JENNIFER gave birth to her son in jail. She was handcuffed to the bed for periods of time during labour and after giving birth. The 40-year-old told truly: “The week I found out I was pregnant, I actually went to jail and I spent my entire pregnancy incarcerated.” She explained that giving birth was one of the hardest things she’s done and that she had a ‘meltdown’ when it was time for her to return to jail. Jennifer said: “I was crying, I was screaming, I was kicking because it felt so wrong and so bad and there’s nothing I could do - I’m there because of my mistakes.” She was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a number of theft-related convictions and her son, Dominic, was raised by his dad - Kyle. The father and son came to visit Jennifer in prison every week. Jennifer was released in 2020 and is extremely proud of Dominic, now 11 years old. People question her abilities as a mother and judge her for her past but Jennifer is determined for her family to stay happy. She said: “My story is just one of encouragement, hope and knowing that that is where I was and this is where I am now.”

    • @@NBC09 i understand why you are going down that path but she did her time. She hasn't gone back to that lifestyle even though Im sure everyday there's temptations.. She chooses to grow as a person, women and mother. She has obviously made bad choices but now is making better ones that she and her son be proud of. There's no need for these negative comments when shes trying to do better. If she was stepping out on parole or telling people how to get away with it and giving them a blueprint fine but she isn't. There is so much negative energy on people please dont be another negative commenter.❤ ❤

    • I hope that you’re proud of yourself for turning your life around, because I am and you deserve to be! As a prison reform advocate, I think it’s so wrong and unfair that people continue to judge you for your past mistakes even though you’ve clearly learned from them and became a good mom and positively contribute to society! Once a person has done their time, their crimes shouldn’t be held over their heads for the rest of their lives. Sadly, our system is broken, and Americans tend to believe that people can’t change and they should be punished forever. I adamantly disagree. Thank you for sharing your story with us. I wish you and your family all the happiness and success this world has to offer! God bless you and your beautiful family!

    • Right, im appalled at some of the comments, she did her time. The story is about her being a mother after the fact. I wonder what social media is doing to the world when it allows people to live high and mighty in their glass houses. Are we humans or is everyone morally and ethically living righteous lives ? Geesh ?

  • What an inspiring story! My house was broken into a few times during my life, both when I was home, and when I wasn't... I know how violated I felt, how I'd sleep on the couch for weeks, too fearful to have a good night's sleep... Even if Jennifer had been one of them, I'd only be proud of how she has turned around her life! We ALL make mistakes when we're young! How many teenagers drive intoxicated? How many pregnancies are started before we're ready to be parents...? Kyle is a great Dad! And Dominic a lucky boy to grow up in such a nice family structure! Thanks for sharing your journey here... ❤ ❤ ❤

  • I can’t believe people really take the time out and write judgmental comments when she probably doing better than the person writing the post. So what she went to prison we all make mistakes in life. It’s not what you been through it’s how you get through it and the decisions you make after you get through it. Nobody is perfect you might can learn a thing or two from the person you are judging @jenjengomez keep doing your thang ❤

    • The whole point of prison is for people to be punished. She did her time and gave birth and had to be immediately separated from her newborn. Isn’t that enough? Just because someone did bad things in the past doesn’t mean they should be condemned for life. She didn’t murder anyone. I’m sure the people she robbed would be happy that she turned her life around.

  • Look at Christina Randall. Although she didn’t have a baby in prison, she was released, turned her life around. And she is doing really good. But what I want to know is why did she steal from people? If you have ever had someone steal from you or your home broken into, then you know the violated feeling. Not only being violated but your home is supposed to be our safe zone. That can mess with a persons mind for the rest of our lives . Its hard to feel safe again. For her victims, I pray they are all doing ok & living beautiful lives. Her son is so adorable!!!💜
