Never have I ever seen Stephen Colbert so angry and shaken to the core. This is reminiscent of Jon Stewart's monologue after the mass shooting occurred in the AME Emmanuel Church in Charleston, SC. Today, Stephen represents and speaks for me.... and I assume for many of you as well.

Sheer frustration at Amy's ''back to normal now''. No - they should all be punished and kicked out of town - from Grump and his senators/representatives/mayors and, of course, his thugs and the police who helped them and took selfies with them. A couple of thousand committed crimes and only 40+ arrested so far!!! If they had been BLM there would have been 40+ dead by now - killed by those police who were so slow to arrest the white guys.

To everyone commenting that she’s smiling/laughing: That’s a defense mechanism and a distorted response to trauma - it’s not uncommon. Smiling when discussing a traumatic experience is a way to minimize it. The emotion expressed outwardly is likely very different from how she actually feels, she can’t cry during the interview, she has to hold it together. I think if you listen to her voice only, you hear the emotion. You hear her voice shaky and breaking a few times (like 6:14). You hear her grief, contempt and anger; it’s just less aggressive than Colbert’s. Edit: For the record, I’m not a psychiatrist or anything and I’m not American, but that’s my take.
At 3:42 and on she is fighting back tears. 'Smiling' is hardly the word for her face as she describes being witnessing the mob and being terrorized.
She's just trying to do her job as best as she can. Amy is not the kind of politician that only worries about going on TV to say things that fire up her base. Besides, accusing fellow Senate colleagues of crimes before trial is so much different from hating them in private (which she definitely does!).
As someone who has experienced PTSD a couple of times, I can state firmly that Charlie is correct. Every day will be revealing for each person, as sometimes the blows of the trauma start manifesting physically and emotionally. Bruises are real. It's hard to seem them on yourselves because it makes it even more real.

You can LITERALLY hear her voice shaking as she talks, struggling to remain calm and poised after such a violent and traumatic event.

the funny thing is, that in america, the president is untouchable by law agencies while in office, one can only impeach him, which would result in him loosing his immunity. legal persecution would be a followup step. furthermore, while in office, he can issue pardons for committed crimes (has already done so for past associates). he plans to use this loophole as a "get out of jail" card from monopoly, written while still in office for the time thereafter. it's really comedic, if it was not reality.

Going back to what she said earlier about how she wants there to be more of a bipartisan relationship when Kamala and Biden moves in, it would go against that goal to say she wants them held accountable. Agree with her beliefs or not, the strategy makes sense for what she is going for. I personally agree with it. Yes, leaders lead. And those Republican leaders did not do their job properly or correctly. But they are in the senate and while it is true we have the majority, having more bipartisan support goes a long way in affecting the tenor of this country.

That's the thing about moving forward, it can't be done unless something is done to put the past to rest. That only happens if these people are held accountable. If they face no consequences, these wounds on the American people - and the greater world watching - will be left open to fester until limbs need to start being chopped off.
