If this helps me not break any nails, I -- 😲
As always, don't listen to anything I'm saying ;) and read all manufacturer's instructions before using any products, especially gel. So many of y'all recommended I try a rubber base coat to prevent my longer natural nails from breaking so I did a bunch of research and chose this one from a fellow content creator / business owner @Nailzkatkat . I'll keep you updated on how it lasts and if it actually goes well this might be my new base and I'll just paint nail polish over it? I've seen other nail artists do that so I dunno. Anyways, I hope you had a great week this week:)

  • My nails do not have a natural apex like they are basically flat. So i am not able to create the apex. Any suggestions! And when i try to rotate it for gravity the gel gets on side of my nail or other or maybe pool in my cuticles. Help me please 🥺🥺

  • Yeah, I’m gonna have to get an LED light and something like this. I tried growing my nails square because that’s easier for me to shape than round or almond, the corner bent like it was made of thin water bottle plastic 😔 anything thicker than that is going to be nice.

  • hey guess what helps keep your nail strong? not using gel. if you have to SOAK or DRILL it off you are damaging your nail way beyond simple acetone use.

  • i was wondering why my rubber base gel nails weren’t looking smooth (I would have lumps and valleys especially down the sides of my nails) 🤦‍♀️ It’s because I kept curing the thin “slip” (? I think that’s what it’s called!) layer first and then going in with the big bead 😂 I learn and get a little bit better each time I do it though! I will say however until I save up enough to buy an e-file, soaking it off is NOT fun and takes forever even with the hack videos online… My regular filing skills are nowhere near fast enough to compensate for not having the drill 😅

  • To be honest I’m a nail tech and the most reason people nail are so weak and easy to break is the acetone because it’s use to soak nail for a period of time when clients came back for new nails And this damage the collagen and calcium of the nails Even though you take supplements and oil it, when nails touch acetone for time it’s already death so yeah Cuz it’s happened to me too like rust metal

  • If you have weak nails, get yourself biotin, you might have a deficiency. They will become as strong as iron. Just check first for allergies of some sorts or any collateral effects. Nothing helps more than supporting your body from the inside.

  • I was looking at CND "STICKEY " BASECOAT, any real reviews! Essie polish especially the 5ml sample polishes does break and chip off! My old gels are going on my toes, gel polishes last better on my toes! UK 🇬🇧

  • For weak bendy nails you need Essie "Here Stay " basecoat and "No chips " topcoat! I've been using Essie nail polishes to replace my gel and this Essie basecoat Is very strong! 8 days my long bendy nails didn't snap, bend or chip off at the sidewalls of my nails! Amazing! Like every polish, when the Essie snapped off/ chipped off on day 8, my weak nails were STILL strong and not chipping! Nailtek 2 chipped my nails but Essie has repaired them! Happy yay ! UK 🇬🇧

  • Honestly, whats even better is the YN(young nails) fiber gel. Does the same exact thing as rubber base but is stronger and has keratin built in. As a nail tech, ive been using on myself for almost a year, and when i soak off, my nails are crazy strong. I dont trust whats in a lot of brands and i wont buy generic rubber base, but you have to be careful as many seem to have HEMA which is a widly known allergen and can cause more harm than good. I have yet to have anyone have a reaction the the YN fiber gel.

  • So pretty! The best thing for nail strengthening IMO is a high protein diet. I aim for one gram protein for each pound of body weight a day. Not easy but my nails became eagle talons lol

  • Had to do a chop of my nails. I tried growing them out without a builder and I broke two in a week 😂. Now I got my builder on and am gonna play with my peely base to try different polishes constantly for fun.

  • I've just startled doing this and it's saved my nails. I have a hands on job so my nails get wreaked but I can now put normal polish on and remove as normal and the rubber base stays put and works wonders!

  • maybe someone's already told you but still: you better use clear rubber base as a first layer very thin, first of all to protect your nails from acids in gel! you can also use harder materials such as strong base or polygel (can be also like base, in bottle with brush) and for them you really need this thin layer from rubber base to have a bond otherwise the gel can just peel off hope it'll be helpful! and for the first time you did really great!!!👍🏻

  • Everything is much harder to apply when you natural nail is completely flat 🫤Zero curve. So you have to build that apex and work harder than people who have natural nails like hers.

  • Please apply a thin layer of transparent base before applying the camouflage base. The transparent base must be cured in the lamp

    • It’s natural! I’ve had them for ages:) you get more UV from just from going outside or driving in your car than from a nail lamp
