Even when he says Escharum was "just a soldier", that's him acknowledging how determined he was to see his mission through, like John, but also how fallible and small both of them are, in the grand scheme of things.

With all that he's seen and been through (and will continue to see and experience until he finally bites the dust, however much that hurts me to even think about), I'd say Chief will start to act less machine-like and more human to some degree, even if, of course, he'll still maintain his signature stoic, reserved, taciturn, and utterly unflinching/unwavering disposition no matter what. Especially with Cortana musing on who's really the machine between the two of them more than once, something of which still probably replays within the Chief's head. Besides, he does stand there awkwardly after he lowered his arms to his sides (no doubt feeling uncomfortable from being hugged), which is still funny as hell.

  • 0:39 incredible play of light, first, while the spartan suffers the light is red and bright indicating that there is something urgent to do, which is to free him. When he is released and the Spartan stops suffering, the light is neutral reflecting that theres no more urgency and the Master Chief is paying attention to what he has to say, the light on the Spartan's face makes it your center of attention, while the Master Chief remains in the shadow so that he does not distract you, when the spartan stops talking and dies the light turns to a cold blue indicating that Chief is assimilating the death of the spartan, this is reinforced accompanied by music and that he does not speak. And finally, the same red light that previously indicated urgency now serves to illuminate the background, it is important that the background is illuminated and not Chief because that way his anger and determination is better reflected.

Fernando’s journey to face up to what he did and do what’s best despite his fear. Escharum’s goal to finally die in a respectable way, to a valued enemy. Cortana, with her final act. Once and for all, realizing her mistakes and choosing to save Chief one last time. And finally, perhaps most importantly, 343’s redemption. They tried Halo with different formulas, made mistakes, made strides, but returned to what made them all fall in love with the franchise in the first place. A story of a green man, and blue lady, who fight impossible odds to give us all hope that things can be better.

He hints at his family beind dead. That holographic recording most likely being the only thing left he has to remember them by. 3. He spent 6 months alone in that Pelican! No shower and living off of MRE's. Think of how low his morale must have been. And the emotional breakdown he has with those Condors really helps the player in understanding that.

The reason the Banished is a multi-species alliance (including Elites and humans in their forces) is because Atriox doesn't believe in vengeance against an entire species, it offers no reward for the pragmatic mercenaries that they're supposed to be. Atriox would know that not all of humanity is at fault. He would know that it was just the UNSC specifically that was irresponsible with Cortana. Speaking of, does Master Chief respect the Hunters, the Unggoy, the Brutes, the Sanghelei, the Jackals, and the Skirmishers as soldiers, the same way he does with Escharum?
