Abandoned 1956 Oldsmobile 88 can we get it running and driving again?
We go find a pretty nice 1956 Oldsmobile 88 that's been sitting in an old tarp shed partially disassembled. Can we bring this classic back to life and get it to run and drive again.

The fact you stopped to pick ya dog up on the way out says a lot about you a guy needs his best friend with him , The world would be a better place with more people like Brent ,
100% agree with you about that!
Tow dog
Lots protection Pablo give Brent too !
I know this guy irl, he is the man! Lol
I love the dash in that car it is absolutely gorgeous that's a nice car
That two tone colour looks great, that patch on the muffler reminds me of the time back in the day I had two kids and two jobs my daily beater was littered with patches just to keep it going quietly, we were broke and didn’t have much but I smile when I look back on those happy days.
Imam 76 and remember back in my poverty days. I had a 59 Chevy that was 12 yrs old. The junkyard was my primary parts store. Fix it on Sunday so I could go to work on Monday. I once took 3 used starters and made 1 good one.
@@tombob671 got to say it made me appreciate every thing we had.
You can’t beat the old bean can exhaust.

So much beauty is this nice old olds. The designs and body lines and that dash! 👌 beautifull! This is a keeper and one worthy of a full rebuild. I love these old cars. Great job Brent! 💪
YES...don't let anyone tell you otherwise just because it's a 4 door sedan...
IT LIVES AGAIN!! You definitely have the best “will it run” vids. Great job and love that car!! 👍
Awesome Oldsmobile! Your music selection really added to the vibe as well!😂👍🏻 Great revival! I would personally love to see you do the rust repair, brakes and tune up! 👍🏻❤️👍🏻☕️😎. Top rate progress!!
Have to love the simpler ones that cross our path now and again. Winning!
That’s a great find. It even looks like all the glass is intact. And talk about a killer dashboard! That thing is sweet. Very enjoyable video.
Amazing find, Pablo seal of approval!
Gotta hand it to you Brent you’ve got some impressive skills and you’ve given this old classic a new life. Pablo is the best sidekick a man could ask for.
You my friend are about the most motivated person I have ever seen on You Tube. I really enjoy watching you get these old cars going again.
I know you did a lot we didn’t see, but that was a fantastic achievement. Nice looking car!
You know that Old 88 could be your next gettin in the snow automobile. Those old cars that I grew up in were great sleds for cruising in the snow. 🤯🦮 Like, share and find an old ride to save. Thanks Brent and Pablo. In back seat like driving Miss Daisy
Dang you made me miss my 56 supper 88 two door. It was all original drivetrain. So a couple things incase you do not know. If the generator does not work you can take a old 70's style alternator turn it upside down and mounts in the original generator brackets. The power steering takes tranny fluid. The pickup tube in gas tank are notorious for rusting off even in dry states like mine.
You are an inspiration to me I used to do what you do then I became disabled and partially blind thank you for your content keep it up
Those were great looking cars Its sad that so few of the beautiful 4 door cars are gone. Glad you saved this one Brent, will make someone very happy some day to own such a deserving piece of car history.
Well done Brent. Pablo with his head on your sholder. He loves the ride. That turned out "Mint".
Pablo putting his chin on your shoulder…❤…what an awesome relationship.
Pablo has the coolest job of all😉 Nice resurrection Brent, driving into that sunset was epic! When you turned and smiled at Pablo I could have sworn he smirked back at you😆 I love that pup!
And that’s how the pablo taxi service was founded. Great job.
For sure that Olds was someone's pride and joy when driven off the lot.Nice to see it drive Brent.Great revival.
The last weekend I on the turnpike heading to fla City, came across a small convoy of 54 to 58 Oldsmobiles, All Cherry and cruising sweet, must have been a car show in the keys. She's a little bit crusty and crunchy, But ya got something to work with.
That is a cool Find . Pablo likes it !!!!
Nice, compared to the usual rotten junk you rescue thats actually a solid looking car!
that's a nice car
great to see an old car brought back to life and to see Pablo cruzin' once again
"I love it when a plan comes together".......Thanks Brent for sharing the Fun.
It was a slow start , but a dab of this and that solved the problems . She looked good on the road and with your co-pilot on your shoulder came around with flying colors . Pablo deserved a treat for keeping his eyes on the road the whole time .Looks like you have a winner with the 56 , Till next time God Bless you and yours , take care , Stuart in Ontario ..
What a hearty V8 you have there she sounds lovely..epic🦾🔥🔥🔥🔥
Pablo makes a great copilot, when he puts his head on your shoulder it’s classic.
My Dad passed in 2021 at the age of 88 and loved his Oldsmobiles. The first I remember was a 1956 Olds 88 (peach and cream) 4 door. Next was a 1959 88 (brown) 4 door. Last was a 1964 Olds 98 (black) 4 door. He had a used car dealer that always had clean Oldsmobiles on the lot and Dad bought from him.
I love how the dog lays it's head on your shoulder when you got in. ❤️
I like the hub caps!
Can't believe you actually got that beauty back on the road. What an awesome job.
Cool old car. Olds knew how to make them pretty. Pablo is man’s best friend! 💪👍🏼
The Dusty Fingers music goes perfect with the overhead drone shots of the cruise along the country roads. I think this old girl deserves some re-hab. Maybe not a full-on restoration - but make into a nice, clean driver !
Dogs really are mans best friend! Great work on that Olds! 👍👍
Great looking Olds. Amazing shape for a Canadian car with our winters and road salt. And very complete. And with a little effort it's a driver!! Incredible. And Pablo gets to enjoy the inaugural drive with ya. All is good in the world. Be safe and stay well.
Favorite KZhead channel. Love the content, always interesting without all the BS. Thanks Brent.
I think Pablo felt that bent front rim and was considering giving you a written warning or a ticket. Best "feel good" ending I've had in awhile. Thanks.
Love those old cars . That pup sure loves his dad . I have 8 dogs and 4 foxes . They are my family . Great video .
Misterys in the fog that happy 😅 face says it all Brent ❤love it
I pick this as my Fav. video! Just enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks Brent!
The car is so 50s what a great find, I love it!
Beautiful lines on those 50's Oldsmobiles. The dash is a work of art. Great video, I enjoyed watching. Cheers. 👍
She's a Beauty! Nice find. She definatley needs some more love!
That's pretty cool. Not a lot to get driving and back together. I noticed that LF wheel was doing some wobbling on the road. Pablo enjoyed the ride. Second best companion in case you have to walk back.
Drove one of these as a young teenager 1966 1967 brings back lots of memories (drove to Florida) with parents
That one would be fun to watch you do a Proper Restore on. I really like that ride. My Grandpa was an Olds Man. So it reminds me of him. Thank You for taking us along
love to see the old ones come back.thank you always liked the oldsmobile
Best part was Pablo riding on your shoulder. Great car, Brent!
Another roaring success! My first car was a 57 Olds 88 4dr sdn. in 1970. It was a real beautiful car with two tone white and blue. That big motor was a real gas guzzler and used almost twice the fuel as any other car on the road. However, it served the purpose of getting me and my cousin out of being stuck on the farm day after day.
Nice job on Olds, good looking running car,, you get an A Plus on this one
That was a great score. Can not wait to see what you might do to it. Keep up the great work
This is a car that with a bit of love, it will love you back. Cool colour, nice engine.
Man what a beauty. Job well done getting it running and it has to be the pinnacle of auto design.👍
Another runner thats road worthy Good find !
I think you have a winner there, Brent. That car has a lot of potential.
Love when my dog gives me a head hug
Loved the shot of Pablo with his head on your shoulder. Always liked those rocket engines👍👍
That's pretty awesome how well it really does run. I love how the pup lays his head on your shoulder while you're driving.
That was a huge win, Brent. Shocker that it went back together so well. They should all be that easy. Congrats!
What a great old car. And you make things look so easy getting it up and going. Thanks for sharing.
Great video!!
Congrats
Yup, it's grandpa's Olds, starts with the first tickle, runs great and always gets you home. It looks friggin awesome. These vintage cars had awesome paint schemes and bright work. Great job on getting her to run, drive and give you a few giggles. Years ago I rebuilt a 327 from the crank up, the first time it fired and ran you would have had to set me on fire to get the grin off my face. Up until the big three started employing plumbers to add\ antipolution crap to the engines, cars were so simple to work on, it used to be a lot of fun.
I love these when you have to problem solve the engine to get it running, my favorites. Nice car also, like those Ponitac's, my Grandfather around that era. But, what I liked is how you knew the engines compression would be ready to go the next day, and it was, like you done a few of those before, worked like a dream. And when Pablo first got in the car, he wanted to put his chin on your shoulder, but with the way you were driving, he had to wait til the ride home. He loves his rides, I thought for sure he would be riding in the front seat, I was surprised when when you stuck him in the back. Take care
You help me through all the BS in my life Brent. Thank you.
Ya gotta be superman carrying and installing that front bumper! 👍
Love seeing you and Pableo crusinvg in the 56 Olds
At one time in my teens (1960s) I was the proud owner of a 56 Olds 98 4dr hardtop and a couple of 4-door 55 Olds 88s afterward. It's all cheap to buy transport for a fresh-to-the-road teen. my hardtop spawned a love of Olds and later while in the US military, I bought a 53-holiday hardtop, a 61 bubble top 88 hardtop, and a 68 442. When Olds went belly up I switched to Pontiacs and Buicks. Now I am a GMC fella in my old guy's daze.
What treat to see this sweet old car come back to life, pablo is such a good boy
Olds have always been one of my favorite cars.
I must say, you have the best montage music going! The jazz piano tunes during the move to the shop was fantastic!
Great throwback video, like from 3 years ago! Get 'er in, troubleshoot, get 'er runnin', get 'er on the road! She is a legit candidate - even with the extra two doors. Colors are boss, style is superb, and she is ALL there - right down to the gorgeous dash & cool bat-wing air breather. The rad is all green, so she's gonna need a blow-out and some brass; the left front wheel is a wobbler, gonna need a new wheel bearing. Other than that, ANOTHER cool ride added to the fleet. Chalk up another WIN! Cheers!!!
That bad boy has a tube radio. Hope it works
Pablo ~ Just remember, you put me in the backseat. You have no one to blame but yourself when I become a backseat driver!✌🏻🇨🇦👍🏻😂😬
Oldsmobile had some really good ingeneering. Spell check failed me,awg...
EXCELLENT! I was four riding in one of those back to town for groceries with the grandma. Blue. Good times! When it runs, that's a win!
You have an awesome runner! Another fantastic rescue. Cheers!
It's nice to see another beauty come to life. It did look like the driverside front wheel wobbles a bit, mint!
I had a 56 olds 2 door hardtop. Factory bronze paint. In highschool. Great car. Wish I still had it.😮😮
It didn't have the front clip initially, BUT, it had 4 hubcaps and everything else . . . knew it was gonna be a good runner with your magic touch!
Super Awesome that it got back to driving, fairly easily. 💪💪💪
Great find friends. had one when I was 15, and Dad was going to buy it for me. Awesome car.
Best One That I Have Viewed So Far!! Loved It!
I like it. Thanks, Now finish the new shop, chop chop.
Hopefully soon. :)
Great job on the ole Olds Brent, loved seeing Pablo put his head on your shoulder when yall went for a ride, too too cool.. ;-)
What a neat Olds. Front looks like a big catfish mouth! LOL
She's a beauty..nice save..look forward to the restoration.
When I was about 14 I bought a 55 Olds 88 from a neighbour who was moving into an old folks home. It was supposed to run, but had been sitting for a while and I didn't have any mechanical experience to go from and Dad didn't have a lot of time, though he did help me get it the half block home. I ended up pulling the front clip off and stripping the engine down , leaving the crank and pistons in the block still attached to the frame, then paid somebody to haul it away. The small differences between 55 and 56 are interesting - shape of the grill and shape of the rear fenderwell openings, 56 much nicer. I look forward to seeing this go back together and hit the road.
Brent fiddles with the Gas Pedal and says he needs to address that...Dude, you need to address the entire car hehehe. I admire your talent. I can change my oil and rotate my wheels, thats about it. When was a teenager in the 1970's I had a 1956 International 236 straight 6. Double clutching. Loved that truck.
Pablo has to put in his ride approval on all the cars / truck's that Brent builds so you no there dog ready like people ready. buddy waits and makes sure there tested be for he goes for a ride guess he don't want to have to walk back if it breaks down on the test drive's lol . keep up the great work Brent
Thanks man, for makin time for this one. Good luck with the shop build/weather.
Love these vidioes I had many 56 Oldsmobiles in my younger days
Such a cool find. And you got it running and driving. Thanks for the video 👍.
Great episode, Pablo is an awesome dog ! He loves you alot
Brent that headliner is amazing 😂😂
I like that olds, reminds me of stuff I had in my youth in the 60s.
That is awesome. I have a 1954 oldsmobile. 2 Door I love it. It's never let me down yet and I drive it a long way.👍👍
😃 Pablo seems to be saying............Are we there yet.🤣🤣🤣
One of my favorite cars. 53,54,55,56, 57,Oldsmobile. I owned a 56 98 Starfire convertible in High school. (circa 1964). Tip on GM keys for that era. Pull the driver's side outer door lock, and the key # is stamped on the cylinder.
