  • You can hip escape and turn sideways which will cause her to lift one knee, at which point enough space is created to escape in several different ways.

  • Interesting... I don't drop to a side for arm bar from there, especially because it creates that window for them to escape. I tend to keep a central base with the hips and work to isolate an arm while still on top.

  • Can we stop with the intermittent use of Japanese to refer to submissions or positions, when we have used the English terms forever? I can understand takedowns, because it simplifies the word of the technique into short syllables most of the time, but this isn't doing anyone any favors.
