  • Hey Coach, 49 and just build a S&M MOD. Running dirt jumps and still trying to learn to manual. Best I’ve done is 3 parking spaces at a fairly slower speed or 2 rollers in a pump track. I think I will take your recommendation to try wheelies more. I’m actually a strength coach as one of my occupations so I’m fore filling that recommendation. Deadlift 395 @ 164lbs when I was 42

  • On the topic of strength training, Lee McCormack's RipRow is great. It doesn't totally replace weight training and isn't cheap, but it's good for building bike specific endurance and mechanics. I'm a mountain biker, but strength training + RipRow keeps me pretty sharp in the off-season.

  • Tire pressure is often overlooked as a new rider. I ride a bmx (freestyle) bike and need it to be at 80 psi. When it is too low, it makes its harder. I don't know what racers run their psi at.

  • hi coach. I myself am from Russia and our bmx race is poorly developed, but I want to learn how to ride well. When I'm riding on the back wheel, I start to fall sideways. how can this be fixed?

    @anti_pro1137@anti_pro1137 Жыл бұрын
    • I would consider having even pressure through your feet on the pedals, make sure your core is tight, and get the hips past the rear axle. Sometimes side to side balance means you're fighting fwd/aft balance (fix this first).

      @BMXTraining@BMXTraining Жыл бұрын

  • The technique that killed BMX. We used to save that for the skateparks. Half the BMX track is a skatepark now. That is why so many walked away. Now, in 2023, we the people are pushing back and fighting for jumps for all and less tippy toeing across rollers. We fix this problem and we will see a major resurgence of BMX racers and a strong bicycle sales market.

    • @@toddwilson1966 BMX racing on an actual track, died in the late 80s. Even when it became an olympic sport, many would be racers were disillusioned as to what actual BMX racing is and a suitable all around bicycle is unavailable. Your bike cant be ridden on the trails and the track anymore. That killed the sales of bikes. When only pro's ride whats left of BMX tracks and the rest ride the velodrome with bumps, many are turned off by that. Yes, I'm 58 and still race but I dont take it too seriously. The best part of the track has been taken away.
