    @SurferSandman@SurferSandman2 жыл бұрын
    • It's actually more like double the hp of the 2.3S. The 2.3S puts down about 130whp, while the mazdaspeed3 puts down about 260whp. Mazdaspeed3 is underrated from the factory like the CTR is. Another interesting fact, the wheels were pig heavy and the factory intake box was a poor design. If you bought the optional dealer intake and bought better/lighter wheels and tires, you had 290whp, which puts the 1st gen Mazdaspeed3 at equal power and weight as the CTR. Watch this video, where that exact setup destroys the Elantra N: kzhead.info/sun/jbifld6ZnJWnm68/bejne.html CTR territory for sure.

Ive tried searching for performance packages or stages, no luck. Its a daily driver and I want any where from 180 to 200 at the fly wheel. Any more and it would spend more gas then what it should. • 5:28 Huge bottle neck right there. The cat back may be 3" but it bottlenecks down to 2.5" at the stock flange on the stock downpipe. Same thing goes for the aftermarket downpipe. No 3" turbo back exhaust is a true 3" turbo back exhaust unless you cut off both sides of the aftermarket parts from the flange to the bottleneck. Otherwise, you have no power gain. Enjoy the power loss, or do it right.

    • Any reputable MQB tuner will be great. To name a few - EQT, unitronic, APR, integrated engineering and so many more. I run APR myself on my R. They’re on the more conservative side of base map tunes. Biggest part you’ll need is a downpipe to go stage 2. Intercooler and intake are recommended but power wise, downpipe is the necessity.

    • I have a 2008 MS3, purchased brand new in 2007. It’s been my daily driver and just hit 280K miles. VERY reliable car. It’s needed some things replaced but only within the past few years: clutch, compressor, struts. I also just put some work into it to replace cracked engine mounts, etc. I do want to get some hp added soon just for kicks even though it’s hella fun as-is. I’ve garaged it every night when I’m home for the past 12 years so the body and paint (True Red) are in great shape. I opted to put $5500 into the car even at this age. No regrets whatsoever.

      @ericalelle1080@ericalelle1080 Жыл бұрын
    • Completely agree with Erica. I bought my 1st gen mazdaspeed3 in 2011. Still own it, and have about the same amount of miles. Most reliable car I've ever owned (I've owned toyotas, honda/acuras, mazdas). Stay on top of the carbon clean (aka seafoam cleaning) as all new cars with direct injection require, and you will NEVER have the issues that people talk about having with direct injection cars. Those issues you heard/read about do not only apply to mazdaspeed3s, it applies to all direct injection cars ==>Carbon build up, study it, seafoam clean at every oil change, and you will love any turbo car that is direct injection, especially the mazdaspeed3. Only issue I had with my mazdaspeed3 is the AC compressor clutch went out prematurely at 100k miles. It was expensive at the time... but now its just a $30 part on ebay and 2hr replacement. I did it a 2nd time recently. Other than that, I've just done oil changes, belt, tires, brake pads, struts, motor mounts, clutch. All regular maintenance. Original turbo, original timing chain, original high pressure fuel pump (which are damaged from carbon buildup, but not mine).

    • @@copperkeyracing6167 I only put 93 in it because that makes a huge difference in performance; it’s the recommended octane. I have another vehicle I alternate driving since gas prices are, well….I should have mentioned that I rarely hit the brake pedal, more like just downshift for corners, slower cars in front of me….My mechanic once told me he could always tell when a woman has been driving a car from the look of the brake pads…until he met my car LOL. I have gotten speeding tickets in years’ past, so now I really only punch it to pass someone. And agreed with all you said.☺️

      @ericalelle1080@ericalelle1080 Жыл бұрын
    • @@ericalelle1080 I also only use 93octane premium fuel. In some parts of the country, premium octane is 91(california), or even just 90. Sadly, many people/women drive an automatic with two feet, and that's probably what your mechanic is talking about, and why pads are worn badly with what he calls "women" driving. As for engine braking vs using the brake pedal... it's cheaper to brake with brake pedal than with the engine/clutch... since a clutch job costs so much more than pads. I'm actually quite impressed that you drive, enjoy, and care so well for your speed3. My kind of girl ;) There is literally no better car in existence, than the 1st gen Mazdaspeed3. So very fast stock, so very reliable, and so much utility being a hatchback... not to mention you can modify these easily and cheaply to 400whp. The looks are a bit restrained compared to modern fast cars (aka CTR) though, yet as fast.
