But dread when I lay down and I can't sleep because I'm afraid what will happen when I wake up (nothing very bad is happening in my life, but my anxiety is just ready for the next bad thing) but listening Kayla helps me fall asleep because it doesn't make me feel alone. Like falling asleep while your friend stays up playing games to make sure nothing bad happens while your sleeping or something.

She would be happy to know the outside is the same, even if the inside has been changed up. Even 8 years since her passing you can occasionally smell her perfume walking in the hallway between the bedrooms and the den/kitchen/living room. She put her perfume on right at the crossing of the rooms before going out

She was born so early that the doctor didn't think she'd live so a birth certificate wasn't issued until the following day. The low that night was 29° in Brooklyn, so my great great grandma laid her to sleep in wooden crate inside their oven because it was more insulated than the rest of the house. She liked Irish coffee, as a Brooklynite of Irish descent. She served in 1940 at age 18 until the end of the second world war as a secretary for the army on the home front. And after settling down, having two kids, and moving to California she worked for the Santa Ana fire department for many years. There's a local bar in the orange county area that has you sign your name on the bottom of the bar stool if you fall off of it. My great grandmother's name graces the bottom of 80% of their stools. Towards the end of her life her body slowed her down but never stopped her, she was still a jokester. She'd come up behind her grandkids (my mother) and "goose" her, aka she'd grab my mom's butt cheek so my mom would squeal and then Nana would hobble away cackling. She was also a very good aim with a flip flop, which she learned from her Filipino next door neighbor, who was also a close friend. And once she wasn't able to bend down and grab her shoe anymore, she learned how to use her cane to lob it at you with just as much accuracy.

Where I’m from, the dining room and kitchen are connected, and there’s a sliding door in the kitchen, and it’s tile on the floor, but not on the walls. And in all the bedrooms there’s wood floor, and the stairs are like floating, no under wall thingys, and the floor plan for the first and second floor are the EXACT same, besides the room next to mine not being a bedroom, but a laundry room😭

And for the life of me, I don't understand why she claims she struggles to make floor plans for those type of houses. The simplest way to set up a floor plan is to have one room essentially be the hub, from which most of the rooms come off of.

  • Im in the uk, in EVERY home ive lived in ive had carpet in every room except bathrooms and kitchens. Ive often used rugs on top of carpet, for many years renting, carpets are usually thin and sometimes not great colours so a rug is great to cover a bad coloured carpet or if its a thin carpet to have a nice foot feel in bedrooms for example. I also like how in open plan homes rugs can define a living area. I bought my apartment 8 yrs ago and the whole apartment didn't have finished flooring except for the kichen and bathroom so i had to get that sorted before I moved in. Cost wise carpet made sense, from my rental life i knew I didn't want the cheapest thinnest carpet but flooring is expensive. So whilst id love real wood flooring, the leasehold stipulated a certain thickness for under flooring insulation with hard floors so I opted for a mid thickness carpet but i still have a rug in my living room and bedroom for extra squishiness, insulation and it helps define my space especially the combo living/dining room. Add rugs to carpet floors if u want to kayla!

  • I also wish we had half tile walls. It'd be so nice! Imagine all the things you could build with that little thing. And talking about garages, a lot of people convert that space into something else, (especially if they don't drive anymore or at all) so that it's not for cars but hobbies or storage. So using it that way in the Sims makes sense.

Had 1 in the living room 100% only because it was a set with the furniture and if it didn't come with the couch, recliner, and tables we definitely wouldn't have had one there either. My extended family with carpeting never had rugs on the carpets either. At one point a SMALL rug like a couple feet was gotten for 1 bedroom to hide a burn in the carpet from an on lamp that was knocked over lol.

I used common measurements for things like appliances and windows to get a relative scale (it's not 100% acurate). Many stoves are 27"-30" and windows and doors tend to be close to 36". Many of these only take up one square in the game, so assume one square is 3'x3'. it works MOST of the time! Have fun Simming!

  • it's wild that what's 'realistic' to simsie isn't even a consideration for me (like we would never ever have carpeted bedrooms, it's far too hot for that. we usually have tile or marble tile to keep your feet cool) or like culturally we would not put the sink on the same side as the stove because we believe it gives a bad energy!

  • Me back then in a german rental, had some carpet floors in an old but renovated building. But the carpet had some spots on it, even after deep cleaning. So, of course I did put a fancy rug on it and it made the room look so much better and more stylish. To me and people living in Germany it seems a normal thing to do, so don't worry dear. 💖

  • Yeah, having the suite on one side of the house/apartment and the other bedrooms in the other side of the house is quite realistic, it happens here in Europe aswell. The apartment where I live has that kind of layout; so does my bestie's apartemnt or my father's or my uncle's house on the other side of Europe. Honestly I love this layout because of the privacy and sound cancelation it brings.

  • I actually have more issues with shells then floor plans, I just do not understand how to make the shape make sense and not be super flat. When I have the overall shape the floor plan just works out so I mostly just do something similar to a sims KZheadr’s build shape but tweak it to my needs.

  • About the rug on the carpet- we definitely do that😂 my parents do that because the carpet is a neutral color but my mom wants some kind of color/pattern but gets tired of it every 5-10 years soooo its easier and cheaper to change a rug than to redo the carpet. My husband and I do it because it sets spaces apart like our ‘living room’ space vs our ‘dining room’ space when they are in the same room on the same carpet in our apartment. Plus, extra cushion for bedrooms!

  • i am TRULY begging for more brick colors in the sims. also ones that dont have the hellish industrial tag making my lot all smoggy. there are sooooo many sweet little suburban brick houses cottagey. i need brown bricks, creamy beige yellow muted orange etc. white washed red ones so they look pink. bricks that are all different colors so they have the look of jewel tones. stone and brick features on houses are SOO gorgeous IRL and the sims 4 is lacking

  • I will never get over the fact, that entrances that are not seperated from the living room are real. In the countries where i have lived, they are usually a small room, completely cut off with a wall and door from other parts of the house. Or if not possible at least a really visible seperation exist.
