Wolf Pack Hunts A Hare | 4K UHD | The Hunt | BBC Earth

A diet of leverets will not be enough to sustain a growing pup or feed an entire wolf pack, so bigger prey is needed. The problem is bigger prey like the Hare are incredibly agile and can run up to speeds of 60 km per hour. If this wolf pack are not going to go hungry, they will need to hunt as a unit.

  • Canines are so vicious, when a feline catches its prey it suffocates it first and then starts eating, but these wolves just start ripping the thing apart

    @phatato@phatato3 ай бұрын
    • African wild dogs are especially known for this, though that's likely because there are so many other predators that will steal from them if they take too long. I've seen some canines suffocate their prey by biting the windpipe from the front and holding on, like lone coyotes when they hunt deer. However, with a small prey like this hare that doesn't require much effort to restrain, it probably makes more sense to just start eating.

  • Why does the hare often change its direction when fleeing? Wouldn't a straight path be a better strategy?

    @wsy987@wsy9873 ай бұрын
    • Because running straight makes it so that the wolves can just run fast enough to catch it. Also every successful duke creates a great distance between the hare and one wolf.

    • I wonder why. Yet evidence that speaks of the Maker of these creatures is seen in nature. However sin has marred the work of God. Nature doesn't represent Him perfectly but His word the bible does. Mostly through His son Jesus Christ. Now we may behold His character in it's beauty as we behold the Lord Jesus Christ. Thus Even we are transformed to be like Him.
