honestly more interested to pick up metazoo now as its an interesting case of a tcg that failed, also be easy to open for only 20 bucks lol
I know that feeling! The deals are kinda compelling 😅
There was like 5-10x more sellers than they were buyers and most of those buyers were people trying to flip it in the future for a profit. Once most of the investors left in early 2023, product started to plummet heavily. Only people that were left were a small number of investors buying product in mass quantities at auctions at heavily discounted rates hoping to flip it once again in future. Now that Metazoo shut down, Investors are now gone completely and the only people buying are those few that play the game, and even many of those people left. It's basically worthless now. A kickstarter 1st Ed Cryptid nation box isn't even selling at $900 on Ebay. Nobody wants to put money into this hot potato anymore.

I strongly suggest collectors and investors of card games to learn and play the game itself and to follow the game competitively. A large part of the base of people buying cards are competitive players, and the second these players stop playing the tcg for whatever the reason, the game itself becomes a house of cards. Basically the house of cards fell once collectors stopped buying product as much. There were tale tell signs the card game aspect was not doing well with many people saying there are not many players and not many tournaments. On top of that players that participated in large tournaments hosted by the Metazoo team themselves did not receive their prize money immediately which was a cause for concern.
I agree that playing the game goes a long way! I never played MetaZoo but I do play Pokemon and have benefited a lot from that 😊 Thx for the comment!
yea "investors" like to not think about the player base being important and their just Timmy's buying cards and losing money. But really they should be the core demographic that should be supported and will keep a tcg alive even if the investors are gone

Everybody who pushed this as an investment should not be pushing anything else no more after this debacle. Cant take a single KZheadrs investment advice when they have Metazoo in their collection. You got got, scammed.
I think you have to know what you’re going into and do your own research. I’m fine with the decisions I made 🤷
@tcgbuyersclub Im not gonna sugar coat it as you should not for your audience either. All this talk about finance it is about time you KZhead Investment bros learned a lesson. There are always consequences in finance when you mess with peoples money, my broker would be fired selling me a load of garbage he would lose his license and working at mcdonalds scamming people. It is a scam, how much money did Mike make away with before it collapsed. Like FTX lets look at the financials.
Rudy is still pumping and his fan girls are still defending him. No body really cares and Timmy’s never learn.
Investments fail all of the time. Some great investments still end up failing. Being wrong on investments comes with the territory. No one gets it right all of the time. With respect to Metazoo, I ended up doing really well buying CN booster boxes early for $250 ish and offloading for around 1k average a while back. So, for me, the investment worked. For others it didn’t. Move on and look for other avenues.

RIP sorry for your loss. I think this will crash super hard. I was a big fan of the World of Warcraft TCG and was very sad when they cancelled it. The prices of sealed products ended up soaring because of scarcity but I don't see this happening with Metazoo since it's not tied to a beloved IP like WoW.

I'm 100% glade that I did not drop even one cent into MetaZoo!! I'll stick with Pokémon, and Magic The Gathering if I buy any trading card game (TCG)!!! Pokémon and Magic The Gathering fan based is very strong, and I don't think will do anything but grow even more for years to come. MetaZoo is by fare not the first (TCG) to crash, but one of the most hyped since Pokémon I would say!! But Pokémon had a TV Show, It was a real card game, It had movies, it had Video Games (Gameboy) and more to back it up outside of it's massive fan base. MetaZoo had KZhead???
Hey, thanks for watching 😊 It’s true that the Pokemon TCG was built off the back of other media that had already created a huge fan base, and I think it’s easy to underestimate how powerful that was in establishing Pokemon as a long-term collectible franchise!
Aoki supposedly got out about 6 months ago, artists left due to unfair favoritism, unqualified personnel as the president, discord mute, and Kuromi. Trying to get my preorder money back

Whats funny is the cards are really worth what they were always worth. The game can still be played but with no more updates. Investment into card games is like any Investment. Mega gamble. Its still paper and ink and the value is based on how much fun the game is and how much people wanna play it. Magic cards will become worthless if a bad enough event occurs to stop players from playing.
That’s a good point: as long as people still enjoy playing the cards have value. Without new cards being added and the meta being able to shift and evolve as a result of it, I wonder how long it will last? Thanks for watching!

not shocking whatsoever that this failed. there was never any actual gameplay interest, only investors trying to make a quick buck. without anybody actually playing the game where do people expect value to come from?
It’s true. And I saw a lot of folks who came from an investor background start to promote the gameplay, which seemed like just trying to justify the investments. That being said I really don’t know anything about the game and I’ve heard from several people who really enjoyed it 🤷 Thx for watching!

Some people can't play the card games and they only collect. But everyone who gets cards only for their value and raises the prices of cards is an a hole and ruining the hobby for players that used to be able to buy rarity upgrades for their decks and actually play those cards and not care about grading them

Whats happened to Metazoo is very sad but the worst that came of this whole situation is the sheer amount of backseat drivers and hate that has come from the TCG community towards those that really liked Metazoo. Its like, Yo I don't shit on your interests when they fail - why are you shitting on mine? Guess TCG collectors and players are just like gamers, super toxic at times. Great video and RIP Metazoo 🙏

People should understand the uniqueness of Pokemon as an IP.

Ideally someone else could take over/acquire the IP and relaunch it after the dust settles. I believe something similar has happened with other TCG's in the last year or so. I hope at the end of the day those that are owed money get paid.

You can't get away, with saying metazoo was just another TCG startup, closing it's door, the end, Metazoo had works in their pipeline, toys, cartoons, and a new CN set, with nursery rhymes beastie creatures, which would given metazoo a bigger audience, all this sudden metazoo is dead, doesn't make sense, what makes sense is eBay helping Pokemon, to pay MW to go away, or to make it difficult for metazoo to run it business, I mean really there was no printing presses available to print cards,

It could happen to any new TCG! MetaZoo seemed unstoppable at a time but a couple years is AGES for these unproven TCGs and we’ve now seen how that turned out. One Piece has a lot going for it that MetaZoo didn’t have, but you never know 😅
It is called "Meta Zoo". That was ALL you need to know to stay as far away as possible from this shit.

Yeah, there was a period of time where booster boxes for MetaZoo’s first set in 1st edition kept going up and up and up so there was a lot of attention on it. Both MetaZoo and Flesh and Blood were booming during this time and a lot of the commentary was how they were the future of TCGs. It’s wild in hindsight 😂 Thanks for watching!!
