Secret Fourth Reich - The Naumann Circle Plot

In the early 1950s, a secret Nazi organisation in West Germany attempted to infiltrate political parties to establish some form of Fourth Reich, a successor to the defeated Third Reich. The organisation was called the Naumann Circle, and was the mastermind of the last Propaganda Minister Dr. Werner Naumann, who had escaped from Berlin in 1945 in the same group as Martin Bormann. Find out the story here...
Dr. Mark Felton FRHistS, FRSA is a well-known British historian, the author of 22 non-fiction books, including bestsellers 'Zero Night' and 'Castle of the Eagles', both currently being developed into movies in Hollywood. In addition to writing, Mark also appears regularly in television documentaries around the world, including on The History Channel, Netflix, National Geographic, Quest, American Heroes Channel and RMC Decouverte. His books have formed the background to several TV and radio documentaries. More information about Mark can be found at: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Fe...

    • People often forget that there was still large support for the NSGWP after WW2. It took a combined effort of book burning, propaganda campaigns, assassinations, jailing, and spying by the US, UK, and USSR to crush the resurgent post-war support for the NSGWP. So it's no surprise, since your grandfather was probably briefed on the local situation in Berlin and the surrounding regions.

  • One curious piece of trivia about Josef Mengele, is that after he died in Brazil, He was buried in the town of Embu das Artes, in an unmarked grave, very close to where I live. He was then exhumated in 1985 for proper identification after the brazillian federal police intercepted letters from his family in Brazil to the Mengele family in Germany, informing them of his death. After the exhumation, his remains sat unclaimed in the São Paulo Institute for Forensic Medicine until 2016, when it was transferred to the São Paulo University as an educational aid for medicine students. I guess they finally found a use for him after all, Terrific video as always Dr. Felton.

  • For those of us who lived during the Cold War and would listen to shortwave radio services like Radio Berlin International, and Radio Moscow, histories like this were common. A common argument of the Warsaw Pact/USSR was that the Western Alliance was really run by NAZIs and would lead the listeners to believe that any military action taken by the Warsaw Pact against NATO would at its root be a continuation of WW2 to finish the job. We hear echoes of this argument to this day with Russia vs Ukraine/NATO.

    • The metal gear solid series of games has a sort of alternate history time line. A group called the Patroits formed after ww2, creating a slush fund to invest in both sides of forever wars. It really isn't so farfetched. Even if you aren't a gamer I encourage you to watch some storyline videos. The second game touches on AI and it is weird how on the mark Kojima was.

      @Karpp1nen@Karpp1nenАй бұрын
    • @@Karpp1nenYes, they were. And the same was true for East Germany. Both versions of Germany needed to be governed. The NVA was the logical conclusion of the Nazi Wehrmacht. The NVA continued all the traditions of the original German army with no shame. If the Warsaw Pact did invade NATO to wipe out Nazism in the West, they would have done it with goosestepping Prussian style super soldiers who were trained in the same way as the armies of the NAZI's. The NAZIs knew how to run Germany, the allies -all of them including the Soviets- needed and used them to their ends.

      @AndrewTubbiolo@AndrewTubbioloАй бұрын
    • @@AndrewTubbiolo I think you're missing a point here of how west germany failed to carry out it's obligations of denazification. It's completely different to have former nsdap members in control of the high courts or ex wermacht officers serving in the NVA.

The only criticism I might have is that the overly loud dramatic music stings are wholly unnecessary. Your reading gets the point across, if more subtly, just fine.

On a side note, I am a huge WW2 European Theater nut & I have been a massive fan of your work for a very long time. You always ask the right questions & provide logical & factual explanatory answers. I honestly have never watched one of your videos & left with any unanswered questions. How you don't have a show on the Discovery Channel or BBC is beyond me (truth be told it's a crime!). Documents have been released after 70 or 150 years. Some particularly sensitive documents are never released. Documents concerning Ultra were never meant to be released, the British and Americans wanted to keep them secret indefinitely, but after its existence was exposed they relented and allowed historians access.
