“That should never go in!!” Higgins Pots 'Ridiculous' Black in Win Over Wilson | Eurosport Snooker

John Higgins breezed into the quarter-finals of the World Snooker Championship with a comprehensive 13-2 win over Kyren Wilson at the Crucible in Sheffield. His play was out of the top drawer and he was comfortably the better player over the two sessions, but he did have the occasional piece of fortune on his side - one in particular during the 12th frame of the match.

  • The authorities must be wanting the centuries record to go. I've been watching snooker since the 80's, I can't believe where some of the balls hit the cushion or jaws so high up but still go in, they shouldn't be. The other issue is it's getting too predictable, if the game becomes it's purely about who gets the first chance only and end of frame then it becomes stale and boring, you want the possibility of a player may miss to create the excitement, so isn't predictable as soon as whoever gets the first chance that's end of frame and it's right next frame who gets first chance now. It's too predictable due to the exceptional standard. I've been of the opinion for years the pockets need tightening due to this exceptional standard. It was refreshing during one tournament a few years ago Ronnie said the same, they need tightening, with Ronnie you never quite sure if he genuinely meant or not, be interesting if he still thinks that. It shouldn't be a game that is just down to the lottery of who gets first chance it's predictable end of frame, we want it more tense, more drama, the possibility of a miss, less predictable, a bit of jeopardy.

    • @@Lmtthw8651 yes but not being funny but one player visit has been a thing for 20 plus years as a consultant….actual WINNERS have a multi faceted battle fatigue armour that then makes them over the course of titles and seasons and even phases in their career rise to the top. So I know what you mean but you’ve been verrrrry reductionist and have given a verrrry narrow bandwidth to the depth of the game mate. There’s no coincidence more and more players are working in their mental game now. Who cares who can clear up…the nuances of dealing with expectations of yourself and the the public and media etc etc etc these things require a deep embrace that is as mentioned deeply psychological so again…who cares about ‘clearing up in one visit’ Silly point but again I understand kid Take care and enjoy the tournament Blessings
