  • One of the best battery videos I've seen with good advice as well. Just short of 30k miles on my 2019 LR RWD Model 3. Basically I've followed your same routine. Locally I only charge to what I need. Rarely over 60 percent locally. Even on road trips I stay between 70-30. Store the car between 30-50% between drives. Supercharged 36% of the time due to road trips. Still around 305-310 miles of rated range. It was 325 when new. The BMS can swing pretty wildly when you keep to a low SOC regime.

  • I have a 17 100D on 19 inch wheels that I bought used with 41,000 miles on it in December of 2020. Charge at home to 80%. Have lost just a little over 4% in range over the last 4 years and has leveled off and seems to be holding steady. Full charge gives me 320 miles under optimal conditions - at 80% the car still delivers 253 miles at 79,485 miles. No worries here.

    @MichaelKirven@MichaelKirven2 ай бұрын
  • 1 year old 23 MYP says around 292 to 298 mile range. (usually 148 miles at 50% soc) Only charge every 2 or 3 days and have less than 60 miles. going from 50 to 70%. However I've noticed the indicated soc going quickly down from 70 to 57, then slowly to 50 when I then plug it back in. I will try plugging in everyday to 60% and see if it improves the BMS.

    @vroomzy1@vroomzy12 ай бұрын
  • I typically charge at home to 80%, and the car gets plugged in every night. I only charge to 100% for road trips, although watching your road trip videos I noticed you rarely charge to 100, instead opting for more stops, but shorter stops. Normally if I'm road tripping I've opted for fewer, longer stops. I've downloaded A Better Routeplanner since my next road trip will be from my home in metro Detroit to Chicago (my daughter wants to see the K-pop group ENHYPHEN) so it'll be interesting to see what Tesla's navigation recommends vs. ABR.

  • Do you know the price of the new Tesla model 3 performance?

    @logtec1162@logtec11622 ай бұрын
  • I think every Tesla owner need to take a chill pill about the battery. I also have a 2022 Model 3 Performance, and I barely look at the range I have. I go by the battery percentage, I I have never worried about battery degradation. I do take care of my car, I only use superchargers when I have no choice like going on a trip. I also charge up to 80% unless I am going on a trip. Only a few times I charge to 90% when I know I will be doing some extra driving. In general, my car sits at home at around 60% to 70%, I charge at work as we have free charging which is the same power as I have at home, so no stress for the battery. On the other hand, I do accelerate hard many times, but that is one of the reasons I got the Performance model so it is what it is. I live in Florida so no worries about cold weather, only have to watch for floods. My Tesla just turned 2 years old so I will do the test you did whenever I have the time just out of curiosity, but unless I see some red flags (which I doubt it as my range seems to be just fine), I will not be paying much attention to any small degradation. If I want to preserve the battery as new, then I would not be able to drive at all, so, no, take a chill pill and just do your best to treat your Tesla good, and enjoy driving it. I will probably sell my car in about 3 years or so and get the new Ludicrous or whatever it will be called... or maybe a Model S Plaid if I can. Still, i will enjoy the car and don't worry much about the battery. Cheers.

My advise is just charge when you need to. Dont leave it plugged in all the time sitting at higher SOC. Battery likes it best at 50% and anything closer to that is good

    @lt9357@lt93572 ай бұрын

    • Excellent approach to maximize your NCA battery. A youtuber got his hands on a tesla battery technician's paperwork and what the tech used was 30 and 80...anytime, within the car's life, the battery went below 30% SOC and above 80% SOC it was considered red- harmful...inside those percentages was considered green- good. This is what Tesla uses to determine why a battery degrades more than others. Tesla finally admitted to maintaining 80% max (lowering it from the typical 90% rule) for daily use but you'll never get them to admit the min 30% SOC....that means you can only use 50% of your NCA (LOng Range and Performance) Teslas...

  • I have a 2023 TM3SR (LFP battery pack) and in the 6 months of ownership I have seen the max range even though the battery will read 100%. I will normally charge upto 80-90 daily and to 100 once a week. However, whatever I set my charge limit to, my range is always 1% less than the charge that I set. For example 100% should get me 272, however this is not the case. 100% will get me 269 miltes of range. If i need the extra e3 miles of range then I would have to charge to 101%

With the winter I would do 80 and some days I would lose 8-10% just sitting idle in my parking lot while at work so some days I would use 15% while other I would use 40+%. Lots of variety of miles driven per day so I leave me more options.

      @BurnseysRT@BurnseysRT2 ай бұрын
    • I think it’s probably because of winter which reduces your range or it could be you have some sett8n and technology turned on. I recommend just driving up to speed limit when you can and maybe turn off some Tesla features,probably like sentry mode, or maybe climate controls when you don’t need it. Those types of settings kinda drain battery so that could be the case. Either way, experiment a bit with settings that works for yo7 and that doesnt

Having to put thought on when to charge at 80% or more, is just anxiety making. Charge and go. Worry later about a battery. If 100k down the line the battery has 50% less range, then sell it for what you can and get another car.

  • My Model 3 LR has 80k and almost 3y(jun/24). I did my maintenance test and tested the battery last year when it had about 60k. It showed 3% battery degradation but today when I charge to 100 whenever I need, it shows 328-329 miles.... Go figure

  • It can show you any number it wants. Bottom line how much were you able to drive when you got new car and now. Mine full range is 315mi. I could get 305mi. Now its 288mi but actual miles is 170. There is an "estimate fraud". Otherwise tesla would be packed w battery warranty replacement requests.

  • So much debate of what % to charge to. Who cares? Nobody is keeping a Tesla long enough for it to ever matter. I have a 2022 MYP with 50K miles and I charge to 100% all the time. NO ISSUES. And don't care either way because it two years I won't own it anyway. For 99% of Tesla owners it's completely MOOT. Do whatever the hell you want, drive it, and get rid of it like you do any other vehicle you've ever owned.

  • china made - battery in the Australia market is better quality than the US market which is from Panasonic. Check your battery where it is made from. You are lucky if you got a LFP CATL battery or blade battery from BYD.
