  • That was fun. You’re not easily discouraged, and it paid off with a nice looking and quite satisfactory Murphy bed. I’m considering building one for my guest bedroom so your experience will prove helpful, I’m sure.

  • I’ve been researching for a similar DIY project for more than 2 years now, bcoz I didn’t want to pay so much money for a ready-to-use Murphy Bed. I was very happy to watch your video (with the construction problems you’ve been going through) bcoz - after seeing so many DIY projects on the Internet- I anticipated those problems in advance. I wanted a minimalistic LIGHT-weight solution which perfectly STABLE and ESTHETIC in the same time. I can already tell you that the hinge solution without pistons is more then OK, if you buy a STURDY slatted frame. This can additionally be re-inforce with all-around metall band., if needed. The “fall-out” bed legs can be attached on the inner side of the slatted frame (which may have a “central support” depending on the bed width you chose) I want my queen size bed to serve asa MIRROR during the day, so I’ll have to use either cheap contact mirror paper on smooth construction cardboard (which might look “too cheap” in the end) or light-weight ACRYLIC MIRROR cut to size (which might be horribly expensive), or a printed wallpaper (with landscape theme ?) or a self-painted light-reflecting XXL-artwork. The other solution will be to hide the “naked” bed behind DIY sliding doors which THAN can serve as floor-to-ceiling mirrors... or even artwork-bearing surfaces. Or maybe... a combination of both - mirrored surface plus framed artwork pieces would look “unique”... I’ll see... That will be the last decision to make. I’m totally frightened but awfully excited about my project. Your video with all the trouble-shooting and bravery 😅 you showed during the process was a huuuuuge inspiration for me. Thank you so much for your courage and sincerity. Given your young age, it’s absolutely impressive that you even DARED to start this project. This fact alone instantly propelled me OUT of my “analysis paralysis” !!! 😂 So, following your example... I will finally GET STARTED for Christ’s sake - and go with the flow! 😂

  • Thank you for this video. I'm building a tiny home in a small box truck. The price to buy a wall bed or murphy bed is annoying and frustrating. Even searching for alternatives is a headache. You've given me hope that I can do this. One way or another, I will find a way. Just like you did. No matter what, keep going & keep trying. Good job!! ✌️

  • I love your humor and also your quote on your info pg here on KZhead. "If life gives you garbage, make art". It's much more fitting for me than the standard "life give uou lemons..." since I am passionate about the need to recycle, and so I am a mixed media artist that incorporates trash into my art wherever I can. TFS, the laugh, and new more appropriate quote. NAMASTE!

  • Glad your bed, is a comfort for you. "YES THIS IS AN ENTERTAINING VIDEO". I SMILED & LAUGHED ( at the correct moments).Plus I learned a bit. however I would have went into a store that had Murphy beds... An would have asked " them " which pistons work best. Or just take a photo of the Murphy bed pistons on their Murphy beds. .Thanks for the video,I really enjoyed it 👍👋

  • Really loved this video! It’s so fun seeing the vulnerability of diy experiences others go through! It’s so refreshing and encouraging for other diy’ers because we all go through endless trials & tunings & errors & redos… &&&…. So it’s so inspiring to watch someone else do the same, but keep going! You were so entertaining! So clever! And your determination is just magnificent to watch! Thank you for sharing this with us all all! Genuinely loved this video. 🙏🏼💖👏🏼

  • i also did a DIY Murphy bed, my frame was made out of 2 doors i bought from Home Depot and joined together with a bunch of plywood braces and panels. It's heavy as F but I also used some pistons to reduce needed effort a little (not much).

  • To make a curve like on that one section another trick is to use foam poster board and make thin slits (making sure not to cut all the way through). This will allow the it to bend easily and cut to your desired thickness and attach with either hot glue or staple gun. Then add the plaster to give it that look you wanted.
