yes, that was such a heartbreaking moment. This man so loved his country and his democracy that he defended it no matter what. Even if it meant endorsing his own defeat. I never had more respect for a man than I had for John McCain at that moment.
Was that McCain’s concession speech where he chastised his supporters for booing Obama’s name? I actually cried when I saw that speech for the first time (it was being used to illustrate what a different man he was to Trump) and I’m not even American. It was a magnificent display of moral fibre and fortitude. I didn’t agree with McCain’s politics but my God did that man have balls of steel, and more integrity in a single eyelash than today’s sell-out Republicunt sycophants have in their entire collective body. It’s a mercy he doesn’t have to witness what his beloved party has become.

I remember when the tagline of "anyone can be president" was seen as naively optimistic, not as the terrifying warning it turned out to be.
In any other industry, putting someone with zero experience in the very top position would be seen as dangerous and stupid. No one would consider it. American's forget just how young our country is compared to the rest of the world, that the constitution can and should be changed in accordance with the times. If we can take any life lessons from 2020, we all need to revisit the constitution (federal and our individual state constitutions), they're outdated and need to be updated to reflect the current populace. Equality, equity, voting, eliminating the electoral college and gerrymandering, marriage equality, etc.; every amendment needs to be revised to reflect life post industrial revolution, the digital revolution, a global economy, and going forward.
