I would tell my younger self not to be intimated by the change of dressing well. It was my mid-20s before I started to learn more about proper dress. I had a friend help me out and the change did get compliments. I was military and working at NSA when we had a civilian clothes day. My civilian clothes that day caught the attention of the girls in the office. For the rest of my career this became a common theme. Great advice and a very good video. I was unsure about the red tie and this video may have swayed my view.
10:46 Wool sweaters CAN be washed, albeit very specifically! The Gentleman's Gazette has a whole video on it; in summary, the wool rubbing on itself and other fabrics causes the wool fibres to lock together (aka. felting). Felting mostly occurs in the drying process, but is also possible during wash cycles. In short, hand washing wool sweaters and air drying on a clothes hanger is best, but machine washing is also possible; one needs to invert the item of clothing, roll it up as tightly as possible, put it in a mesh washing bag (which is also rolled up and pinned together with a safety pin), and ONLY use wool-safe detergents. To dry, get out excess moisture by rolling the sweater in a towel for a few minutes, then hang on the rack as normal.
Perfect timing, just turned 30 last week. Certainly agree with the power of image and presentation. You can't hope for people to see your potential, you have to step up your game and show them what you're worth. Whether in romance or at the workplace. Not sure if you've done many videos on hair styling? But just like the fit of any piece of clothing, if shape, hairline, thickness etc. is not considered you're possibly going to lose some serious points.
On the shoe topic: Depending on where you live, and with a little luck, a thrift store could be a goldmine for shoes. I never thought I would buy "used" shoes, but someone in my area likes to donate high-quality shoes in like-new condition. A shoe shine kit and a suede eraser is all I need, and I've got about a dozen pair of shoes that all look damn near brand new.
Love your theme song!
Also a great tip for women! Have the entire outfit come together as one look. Not a bunch of separate pieces! Thanks, Antionio!
I've only gotten into fashion from around the age of 30. My fashion sense in my 20s was laughable. Once I realised the impact that good fashion can have - it is game-changing.
I would add that guys should consider investing in a quality tuxedo/formal wear at a younger age, especially if they are climbing the corporate ladder and attending business or social black tie events along the way.
Thanks for the great content. Looking forward to your program
Thanks for watching!
I want a video on what kind of casual shoes for grown men to wear that are not sneakers. If a grown man, whether he is 25 or 32, wants to dress more proper and more sophisticated, what kinds of casual, non-dress shoes does he wear that are not sneakers? I need a guide to shoes for non-dress purposes for men who want to dress like a proper grown man.
I think some sort of boots could serve that purpose well.
Chukka or chelsea boots would do great
Great list! Another thing I learned was not to wash my slacks, chinos, and jeans to much to help preserve the color and stretch function of the fibers. Also, with my gym clothes, wash in cold water and either hang dry or dry on short low heat cycle to preserve the stretch materials. Hi heat can damage good clothes much quicker.
So awesome…. I started changing my style and having my clothes tailored… I love the way it makes me feel and I’m super excited to continue this journey. Thank you for your videos! That are extremely helpful!!!
So I’m definitely going my own way 😂 cowboy boots dark brown , dark navy Levi 501 jeans , navy / grey ish carrheart work tee . Levi’s type III trucker jacket , Stetson Route 66 in mushroom with hand tooled leather hat band with silver ranger 3 piece buckle . Charcoal herringbone wool knee length over coat . Timex expedition white face/ silver finish with black alligator wristband with silver buckle and silver horseshoe ring worn on the opposite hand from the watch. 🤷♂️
I can confirm this is true.👏
My inspiration for dress n casual outfit is usually Daniel Craig Love way he puts outfits together Like 06 Casino Royale grey linen suit white shirt getting of plane and that car valet scene
Another banger right here! My lil bro is 16 and ima be sending him ur way to up his game💯
Sniper rifles, gonna use that one lmfao, RAH, sir.
Great video
What a great video ❤
Very straight man here but I have to say you were really bringing the heat in your military days Antonio.
Hi Antonio! As usual, a fantastic and informative video! Thanks for the great content. Looking forward to your next one!
Who makes that quarter zip sweater you're wearing? I like the looks of it.
11:03 Nice leather shoes and rain. I find this very difficult as I'm on the west coast of Scotland, which like western Oregon and Washington is a temperate rain forest and if anything is getting wetter. I so often hear that leather soled shoes are better, finer and more elegant than rubber or synthetic soles. I have Dunlop welted rubber soled shoes, but they are always chunky. Would you have any videos addressing this problem as I can see no easy answers. Many thanks and all the best.
I would have liked to have the seasoned, mature version of me visit the younger, easily-swayed-by-trends me each time I was in the heat of making a purchase. "Dude, you are not going to wear that. Trust me. Save your money." "What are you thinking? Put that back." "Don't buy three or four cheaper pieces. Invest in one quality piece." All of us on the style journey have paid school dues. I would have preferred to limit mine.
But once cry once -> buy quality , well fitting ( your fit), and timeless pieces ( YOUR style) on sale when ever possible. It’s not about brand, trends, or how expensive; but what works for your style, your build, industry, and budget. You’ll save money, never look out of place, and own/ look like you feel comfortable in your own skin and clothes.
I had a really cool puke green Harris Tweed overcoat with mustard yellow plaid lining in my 20s that I not only washed in a machine, but then dried in a dryer. Yep..... that happened. 😑
Men: "I shouldn't have to care what I wear. I wear what's comfortable." Also, men: "Dating apps are broken. I can only score 5's and my wife looks like Shrek."
Facts 😂
Wish I'd seen this video 20 years ago. Better late than never.
I just watched zoolander, is that you as one of the models?
I wish I saw this when I was 30.
I think there's nothing more creepy than someone who won't stop making eye contact while talking to you
Did u just change the thumbnail?
When you wear a suit you should wear suspenders or side adjusted. NO BELTS!
Suits are dying Antonio... its over..😢
If that's true. They'll be back. People will get tired of the ultra casual look after a while. People love diversity, and it will inevitably swing back, and it will be the next big thing again! If anything, you can take his advice, pocket it, and be ready for that day.
Respect for featuring a hijabi in your video. 🎉
Im 30, skinny, and baldy... All this doesn't matter in video
One of those things you can actually change. And I'm almost sure that if you did, change that one thing you can. The things in this video would start to matter to you.
Fancy shoes look nice but after a few hours yer feet are on fire. I need bouncy soles !!!!
Make sure that the shoes are all leather and your socks are made of natural fibres, e.g. cotton, wool, bamboo, etc. And make sure that everything is the right size!
@@eddiemaxwell6949 I bought some Loake's many years ago. Hand made in the UK, top quality stuff. I wore em twice and gave them to the charity shop.
I would add: consider religion. There's going to be about 50 weekends a year, plus other special religious holidays. If your religious community is more formal than your job/job interviews, then you might have to re-prioritize some of your formal wear purchases. It's also a great place for young men to learn how to dress well for their community. Know your congregation. One famous example: you might need a black suit before a navy suit.
I'm not religious but I still think it's respectful to dress properly when entering a house of worship
Embarrassing, god isn't real and doesn't deserve respect.
@@rigo.acosta Here's where your wrong: God is definitely real, because the belief in him is real.... that needn't mean he exists, which is an interesting discussion, but for another time. But because he has a real effect on people it is very much needed to show respect by for example dressing well and having proper manners when entering a house of worship... whether that is a church, a mosque, synagogue, or a mandir. (If for no other reason... at least so you don't get lynched by religious fanatics.)
@@basicpatrik218some people believe in leprechauns and unicorns. Imagine what that would do to your sartorial preferences.
@@hendrikjanriesebos1293 Yes but the difference between God and Leprechauns and Unicorns is that Leprechauns don't define people's lives, let alone their culture, whereas God definitely does that. Also, I am yet to see any houses of worship for leprechauns and unicorns. You needn't respect God as such if you don't want to, but do show respect towards the effect he has on people. P.S.: I am also yet to see any extreme leprechaunists who would be willing to lynch you for disrespecting leprechauns.
Be Muslim ❤
Boomer tips for boomers, so cringe. This dude has still no sense of style 😆
