  • $44,000 for a standard cab vinyl seat, plastic door panels and floor with crank up windows is far from cheap or a bargain. Good luck finding one of those on a lot too. That’s probably a special order and they’ll charge for that.

I was all set to order a 2024 TRD Sport 4x4 optioned up and my local dealer....after laughing at me for expecting to get one in the next 6 months gave me a price of $60,880. I have a 2017 Tacoma SR5 4x4 double cab long bed with navigation and all options that I ordered in 2016. Paid $34,520 for it. Uhhhh, what? Even an SR5 with the long bed 4x4 now is $50K. Im out, done, this is crazy. On Monday Im buying an unsold 2022 RAM 1500 Classic Warlock quad cab, long box with navigation, the tech, luxury and protection packages. MSRP $52400, paying $39980.

But hey if it's a new truck with a full warranty and the price is right and you don't mind living in the past, I can see that being a good deal! I can also see why it's a '22 and still unsold until now. The dealer was no doubt happy to see you. I hope you got a smoking hot deal on it cuz you should. :)

I’m not crazy about Nissan reliability, however the Frontier shouldn’t be to bad since it’s more of a progression than a total redesign. Honda, if you can’t get pass people heckling you for owning a Ridgeline, isn’t actually a bad truck. • I think it's a safe prediction that Nissan's Frontier pickup will sale well in 2024. Most reasonably priced real truck and a naturally aspirated V-6. These small twin-turbo engines are a unknown as far as longevity, I just can't trust them yet. People are right about auto makers and dealers having priced themselves beyond buyers grasp. The money is just not there. What world does the auto industry live in? Do they not hear the buying public crying out?

My pick would be the full size ones with a little bit of an appearance package so think Tundra SR5, F150 STX, Chevrolet Custom, Ram Big Horn. All of the mid size trucks are too FratBoy/HighSchool jock off road to be legitimate now.

  • Everyone seems to love the truck from "Back To The Future" and the Nissan Hardbody looks very similar to that movie truck. I like the Nissan Frontier Pro-X (2wd) King Cab because it has a 6-cylinder engine and is designed like a classic truck. Even though I don't like technology in a truck I appreciate how Nissan moulded the dash around the touchscreen. I think the Nismo roof rack for the Frontier is ugly and needs some design improvements. I noticed that Honda also figured out how to properly mount a touchscreen into the dash unlike Toyota who put the screen on the dash. If Honda focused on a all-wheel drive sport truck instead of a off-road truck they would have a better city truck than the Ford Maverick. I hate the modern trend to put 4-cylinder engines in trucks. A 4-cylinder works great in a car or small SUV but not a truck. A mid-sized truck needs either a 6 or 8 cylinder high torque engine to move the mass of the truck, cargo, and a trailer. LHT Performance put a V8 in a Chevy Colorado and get 28-30 MPG on the highway which a turbocharged 4-cylinder can't match. When a V8 mid-sized truck is towing on the highway it isn't working hard so it doesn't guzzle gas like a 4-cylinder. Has TFL heard anything about the 2025 Kia Tasman? I don't know if it's real or just wishful thinking. But the Images of the Tasman look good because it is boxy and reminds me of the Jeep Honcho.

  • For 2nd owner value, used with mileage all those offers seemed fair. Actually some higher than expected. For owners selling to buy a new vehicle it’s actually sometimes better to trade in for the vehicle you want because compare the trade in price plus the savings in sales tax from that and add the two together and then compare if you can sell it for more then that as a private sale. Sometimes those numbers are greater then selling private party and no hassles or risks. Then having to pay the next vehicle entire sales tax. If you selling a newer vehicle private party and own it out right. Don’t say in your ad or on phone call you have the title. Say in ad title with local bank and schedule showings during banking hours. That way you won’t be a target to thief’s.

Also that old 20k price was for a hybrid, and Ford is now charging extra for that. Idk, Ford went up way too fast on the Mavericks in my opinion for not much change in the truck.

Technology and creature conforts are what people want and are a huge driver in cost because companies need to be spending hundreds of millions on "what's next" R&D. Technology has allowed vehicles to be far more reliable and long lasting and comfortable than ever before but there's also a price to pay for that, literally.

I fear for the future of this product with the Stellantis ownership. To me they clearly do not understand Jeep Americana and if it were up to them, want to be Range Rover (look at the new design as it screams RR Velar). I fell away from Jeep last year and after 20 years went to a Bronco WildTrak. I’m really happy with it.
