  • Credit to West Virginia's defense, now if they can improve on it and not foul so much they would be a powerhouse. It was their defined strength that did them in. I actually think they could have been called for even more fouls but hey, we'd still be there if that were the case. The amount of fouls called against them was not an oddity but a norm. In closing, Iowa played West Virginia's game and used it to score by creating many of those foul calls. They are a smart team.

    • Except you can't do that as credible referees. You can't call a game one way all game long, and then when the star player and biggest TV draw is under the threat of losing, you can't all of a sudden change the way you referee a game. What the referees did was borderline fixing the game. I get it, ratings would be absolutely abysmal compared to what they are now without Caitlin Clark, but this was almost blatant. As a basketball fan, I was really enjoying this game right up until the end. It was a hard-fought battle until the referees took matters into their own hands.

  • WV deserves a lot of credit for limiting the top rank offense in the country. they implemented their coach's plan perfectly but Kudos to Iowa for finding ways to win. they show they can win with defense. WV fans can complain about officiating but they got the calls right mostly. WV players were aggressive from start to finish not giving Iowa much room to work. Iowa fans should be happy because if they can win a gritty physical game like this in addition to having an explosive offense, they can beat anybody.

  • The IOWA Hawkeyes came uncomfortably close to losing their game with the West Virginia Mountaineers this evening. Caitlin Clark sent packing in her final game in Carver Hawkeye Arena in front of 15,000 fans would have been horrific. I have got to hand it to West Virginia coach Mark Kellogg. His team had the Hawkeyes in disarray for most of the game. It was by no means a pretty performance by the Hawkeyes. In fact, the team shot just 36 percent from the field and 23 percent from deep. That’s due much to WVU’s impressively scrappy and restless defense for a full 40 minutes tonight.

    @seven0314@seven0314Ай бұрын

    • For sure, WV played unbelievably tight and aggressive on the ball defense, which was a tremendous game plan bc they’re faster than Hawkeyes, the risk you take with that kind of physicality is getting into foul trouble. Iowa played of their 3 point shooters and baited WV into taking 12 more threes than is normal for them. It was ultimately a defensive battle, which can be seen from the low scoring. Well played WV!

    • @@baselee8076 10:30 was a foul on Iowa with 0:52sec on the clock. Would have cut the lead to 2. No call. Harrison pressing (at 10:36) Clark had clamps and they call a weak foul when Harrison steals it. 🤨 I see what’s going on.
