    • It depends, sometimes I tap into "the zone" and then you just write basically a whole song in an hour or 2. you might come back to it later and change some details but for the most part I can consider it done (The is still the process of recording it with real instruments, however) Sometimes I write some parts but get completely stuck and can't come up with anything good for hours, in such a case I usually put it aside, drink a coffee and work on something else. When I come back for it the next day I can sometimes get some new ideas, I have loads of unfinished songs that are many, many years old and you know, that's like a treasure chest. Because now when I get stuck, there's always a chance that something I wrote earlier could fit in nicely and get me unstuck. I don't know if this is the same for everyone but I don't usually sit with just one song until it's done (unless I am in the zone), If I get stuck I just move over to the next song. I don't like wasting time being out of ideas :D But with games now taking 5 to 10 years to make I wouldn't feet as stressed out as I would back in the day of lets say, Final Fantasy VI-X, Back then it was like 2-3 years development time. The Final Fantasy VIII OST has like +70 track. Finishing that much music of that high standard in 2-3 years is quite an undertaking.

    • @@alihasanaxe4936 as a jazz artist myself. I can confidently say that this is not pre-made. I am quite a bit worse than him and can still do stuff like this (not to this level) but Improv is one of the more Fundemental skills when playing Jazz and my Jazz teacher was able to make songs for us to play in around a week. Which sounds like a lot longer. But he had to make parts for all of us. Not just 1 Piano part. It included 4 Percussion, 2 piano, 3 Trombone, 4 Trumpet, 4 Alto sax, 2 Tenor Sax, 1 Soprano Sax and 1-3 Clarinet and Flute Peices. Sure he didn't have to meld it into a story. Instead just setting a tone. But a lot of high class teachers do this on a basis so that the students always have something that the teach knows they have never seen before that they would play. Called Sight Reading. If you look up "The Raven Song" by Bob Baker. It's part of a Trilogy he made with the Canadian Aboriginal People in 2018. And the 3 songs were made in ~1 month. For a Festival up in whistler that I went to and Played all 3 of the pieces. Sight reading them. I think one of the the other songs in the trilogy was "When the mountains Touch the Sky." Also ofcourse by Bob Baker. And I played the 3 songs infront of Bob himself with the rest of my band. It was the first time he had heard... the song played... ever. It was around 2 months after he made it. Because we were practicing with these peices and a lot of other Peices aswell so that they could sound as good as they did. I remember we got 2nd place at the festival in 2018 only beaten out by an Army Band that played Rocky's "Gonna Fly Now". And they all played it absolutely perfectly. Every single one of them had Solo's that were Improv but they seemed to fit into the song so nicely that if you didn't know what Rocky sounded like. Then you wouldn't have known they were not Part of the Song.

    • @@alihasanaxe4936 it's not like he's making super complex melodies. With enough skill, pianists improvise stuff like this a lot. The movement of the melody is almost entirely step-wise, especially early on. If it were more complex, I'd say it might be pre-made. But this seems reasonably improvised

    • @@Skilow I wouldn't say that. Personally, breaking down works to their origins and inspirations or taking everything literally are often not the reason they were written nor how the author would want it read. This kind of butchering is done in the education system to see if the students understand the material at the expense of how enjoyable it usually is to read. Even with some allegorical or interpretive works, making the process of understanding it into a chore instead of something instinctual or fun can make a good or great work into a burden.

  • A year has passed, her heart still bears the scars of what she had done. Word comes that the villain boasting about what he has done, and it lights a fire in her soul determination and revenge. At first, she hesitates to take the sword once more, the fear sets in her heart, but a quiet gentle voice calls out to her, the hero's spirit that slept in the blade comforts her, she has steeled her resolve and trains with masters of swords and magic. Some time has passed, now ready to face the villain once more, now stronger and wiser than she was before. She makes her way in the layer of the villain and faces off with his generals. The last room before her journey ends stands an armored knight, once more she crosses blades, in each strike and parry there is something familiar, too familiar, her resolve weakens as the black armored knight drives her back, then a lucky strike knocks his helm off, and before her stands the hero, her lost love. His strikes continue, his eyes are blank of any emotion. She now knows what must be done, her training comes back, and is trying to reach him to break the spell on him. The fight rages until she breaks the spell, their reunion cut short as the villain appears, now our heroes tired and worn. The final battle truly begins, in their tired state, the villain has the upper hand. Is all hope lost? Is this the end now that they have been reunited? Be it divine providence or pure luck a ray of light shines on the two lovers and fills them with vigor, the tides have changed, the roar of magic and the clashing of steel resound with such ferocity the world could hear the echos to this day, the final blows struck, the villain falls. The dark clouds break as beams of sunlight rain down from the heavens, the lovers embrace once more.

  • I reworked the story. Let me know what you think. I changed the names btw. The Cursed Path The camp was ecstatic with nervous whispering. Soldiers in battle-worn armor stood steadfast at their posts. In the main tent, the two captains, Neasan Dunne and Emer Macclellan, were huddled around a table, deep in conversation. They had been training together since childhood. Their close friendship had eventually evolved into love. Quietly, they went over the plan again and again, ensuring that they remembered it. They were plotting to ambush the evil Asbjorn and his battalion of barbarians. They pause. “What’s puzzling you?” asked Neasan. His voice was rough, yet caring. Emer looked at the ring on her hand, from him. “I don’t think we should take the mountain path tomorrow.” she said. “It would be too treacherous.” Neasan shook his head. “Asbjorn isn’t expecting us to attack from such a well guarded position. This will be our only chance to get the upper hand and finally take him down.” “That is true,” said Emer. “I guess we should take that path.” They decide to rest for the remaining hours before the battle. They awaken 4 hours to dawn. It’s time. Everyone eats a quick meal and gets their weapons and armor. They start up the mountain, Neasan and Emer become nervous. What if Asbjorn knows? What if we get caught? What if we forget what to do? A million questions race through their heads. They shake the nerves and focus on getting up the mountain. The trip to the top was extremely laborious. There were narrow pathways with perilous falls, aggressive wildlife, and a bitter cold that bit at the army like an icy leopard. After what felt like days, they finally made it to the peak of this earthly beast. It had taken so long that the sun was high in the cloudless sky. Under normal circumstances, this would be a gorgeous and enjoyable day. But now wasn’t the time to relax. “HALT!” barked Neasan, throwing his hand up. The thousands of men and women came to a stop, listening for further instruction. At the bottom of the crater, there stood an abandoned camp, littered with burned out fires and discarded weapons. “They’re gone!” exclaimed Emer. “They knew we were coming.” Shadows appeared atop the cliffs nearby. A gut wrenching war horn rang out, signaling an attack. “Behind you!” Hooded figures leaped from the shadows, swords slaughtering the army men one by one. The war broke out. Screams of rage, terror, and pain rang out like a demonic choir singing of death. Neasan dived away from one of the masked swordsmen, narrowly missing a fatal blow to the head. His fellow soldiers didn’t receive the same luck, their screams echoing through the mountain range. Emer sliced one of the enemy spearmen, his headless body plummeting down the mountain face. Blood saturated the mountain as tens of thousands of warriors massacred each other. For a moment, it seemed they had the upper hand. “They're running!” cried Neasan. “Don’t let them escape!” An ear-splitting explosion rang out, causing the very ground beneath their feet to collapse. Soldiers went plummeting down into the abyss. “Explosives!” yelled Emer. “Take cover!” But the command came all too late. Soldiers trampled each other, trying to find solid ground, as huge boulders came hurtling down onto them. Suddenly, a tall, looming shadow appeared in front of Emer. “Y-you!” she stammered, eyes widened with shock and fear. Sinister, purple energy radiated from him. As he raised his hands, she screamed in pain as if her nerves themselves were on fire. Neasan’s blood turned to ice. He ran faster than Mercury towards the voice he knew better than his own. “NO! STOP!” he yelled. Neasan watched as the shadowy figure leaped off the edge and into the dark ravine below. The man they had worked so hard to find, gone again. And worse, he had taken the love of his life. His lieutenants gave chase, sprinting to where the dark wizard had once been. They stopped at the edge of the ravine, looking down. “Sir, this place is cursed.” Neasan pushed to the front, blood boiling with rage. “Asbjorn has Emer, and I must rescue her, no matter how impossible.” Hours later, Emer awakens, but she doesn’t get up. Her whole body ached, and she was exhausted. Her memory was hazy and jumbled. She put a hand to her head and strained to recall what had happened. Sporadic flashes of war… explosions… purple energy… pain. Why was she now wrapped in blankets deep in a cavern? A fire flickered a few feet away. A man sat at the fire, cooking something she didn’t recognise. His back was to her, obstructing his face. Propped in the corner was some armor, worn and blood-stained. Emer’s eyes lit up when she realized that the sorcerer was completely defenseless. And he didn’t know she was conscious. Her mind raced. This was the opportunity she had been waiting for. Asbjorn was completely vulnerable to attack. His dagger is with his armor. If she was able to sneak over to it unnoticed, she could finally put an end to Asbjorn’s wrath. Her heart thumps in her chest. She is sure he could hear it, but he shows no sign of detection. Slowly, Emer crept out of her cocoon of blankets and crawled towards the weapon. Her hand fit around the hilt perfectly, almost as if tailored to her. It felt familiar. She ignored the strangeness of it and crept up behind Asbjorn. He turned abruptly. At that moment Emer leapt at the man and used all her weight to drive the dagger into his neck. “What are you doing?” the sorcerer shouted. “What you deserve!” Emer shouted as she twisted the blade deeper into his throat. She then ripped it out and drove it into his shoulder with all her strength. A maniacal laugh left her throat. “Fight back!” she taunted, stabbing him again and again. Asbjorn collapsed to the ground, mouth gaping and lifeless eyes wide. Emer’s clothes became soaked in blood. A wave of bloodlust and pleasure washed over her as she watched him fall. She had finally completed her life’s work. But something wasn’t right. As his body lay on the floor, something glistened on his finger. “It can’t be…” The ring was too familiar. She looked back at his face and saw Neasan’s eyes. “NO! NO! WHY ARE YOU HERE?” She rushed to cradle him, but his soul had already left his body. Her face turned whiter than cotton. The reality of what she had just done had just hit her like a tsunami. She had killed her soulmate. She pressed her hands on his wounds, trying to stop the blood loss, but it was fruitless. Guilt and agony washed over her. She collapsed to the ground, sobbing profusely. A sorcerer wouldn’t wear armor! And the dagger fit her hand so well because it was her own! How could she be so stupid! She tore at her hair, screaming “WHAT WAS I THINKING?! HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN!?” A storm of emotions filled her brain. She hated herself and wished she could go back. Asbjorn. He must have cursed her, making her hallucinate. He must have abandoned her, knowing Neasan would come find her. Now Neasan was gone. His touch a cold clutch, his voice a silent memory. She held him close, hugging him as tight as she could. She noticed her clothes were wet. No longer from blood, but from tears. She screamed. The pain was unbearable. She blamed herself. Cursed or not, in her mind, it was her fault. She would never forgive herself. She picked herself up and held the dagger. There will be time to mourn, but not now. “Asbjorn.” She said shakily, “I will find you.” She emerged from the cave. The sky was covered in thick clouds, letting very little light through. She was deep in enemy territory, yet she felt no fear. She took a step. Either she would make Asbjorn pay, or she would die trying. Nothing else in the world mattered anymore.

    @flutterguy2258@flutterguy22583 жыл бұрын
    • I disagree...the way it played off sorrow was a bit cliche, in that it is the cinematic version of the feeling of shock and loss. Like there would be many emotions felt all at once between sorrow and anger for being fooled; basically a flood of the 5 stages of grief all at once. It played hard into the sadness aspect, while not really dipping the toes in so to speak to the other feelings and emotions...and for that, while being a good piece, I wouldn't consider it the best compared to the one trying to go for the duel of the fates vibe. Imo it did a much better job of making the listener really feel what the stakes of the 'battle' were, the chaotic back and forth nature of the fight, and even the despair and suspicion lingering at the back of the hero's mind that they might be so outmatched that the villain is just toying with their prey before the kill. Because of all that I feel that it was much more creative than the 10 hour which sounded and felt more formulaic, trying to convey the trope of loss rather than the _experience_ of loss.

  • "Why?" Ainsley's voice was choked and barely there "Why did you make me do that?" she shook, with the dagger held in her shaking hands. The man, the sorcerer, in front of her winces, guilt, and shame flickering over his face. "Because Ainsley," he said, hands held out in a beseeching gesture "because I had to show you that you were stronger. That he was holding you back" "No" her voice raised into a shout, tinged with desperation "no, I loved him. I only loved him and you killed him. You- you made me kill him." "I'm sorry, I had to show you" "Show me what?" she raised the dagger, she could still see the stains of red from Cynric's veins on the icy cold steel. She had held it so steady then. So steady as she plunged it through her love's neck. Plunged it through his chest again and again until the illusion broke. What made it different now? Ainsley had only had one thought in the year since his death, . But now? Now he was in front of her. He was in front of her and he was telling her why and she was listening to him. "I had to show that you were better. Stronger. you could do so much more than what that army offers you." "I being in the army" "No, you liked being with him" Brinholt snapped, something akin to anger flashing in the back of his eyes "That was the same thing" Ainsley tried to say but she knew the defence was weak. "You can do more" He wasn't even watching the knife, his eyes were locked on hers. He had her immobilised but it had nothing to do with the magic that coursed through his veins. "How can I do more?" She couldn't ask, the knife no longer aimed at his throat but dropped to his heart, the same organ he had ripped out and crushed, and she could tell from his eyes that he had noticed. "I can show you" she may have been shouting from fear and desperation but his voice was steady, stable. It grounded her and gods she hated it. "You took my control from me" her voice was strained, losing the passion it once had "I didn't know what was real... I don't" "I can teach you. I can teach you to never let that control go again." he held a hand out for her to take, and took one step closer to her. "Ainsley I can help you grow stronger. I can help you reach your potential... you'll never be dependent on anyone again I ." Ainsley locked eyes with the sorcerer. He had tricked her before and she had fallen for it... but. But she couldn't pretend that the offer of power wasn't alluring. She was of the army. She had only joined for Cynric and he was gone now... she lowered the knife, dropping it to rest by her side, and with her other hand, stretched out to take the cold hand of Brinholt. "Okay" Ainsley whispered, barely wanting to acknowledge what she was doing. The world still talks of the story. One of betrayal and manipulation. They speak of it in hushed whispers, if it reaches the wrong ears? Well, the birds' talk don't they? The trees have eyes do they not? Because Brinholt the sorcerer has always been and the people can never know if what they are seeing is true or not but Ainsley the Captain? She is so, so much worse. She sweeps through the villages, burning as she went. It has said that the only way to placate her and encourage her to pass over is to place a bloody silver dagger over the door frame. You better hope, however, that no one in your village is you and in love, because if you're unlucky enough for that to be? Well, the fires of hell will be like the depths of winter compared to her rage. You can only do one thing at that point and it will never be enough. But all you can do is Pray. I felt like continuing this? Idk probably not very good inspiration just Hit and the Writing Demon took over but yeah... my interpretation of how the 10 hour piece story ended

    @Lily-uq9rk@Lily-uq9rk Жыл бұрын
    • I think it should be called "Change your Fate" where no matter what you do, you get countered by the boss. The music would seem like you are losing the fight because of the dramatic and strong notes. Near the end of the song is where you start to gain the upper hand. For example, your character has been watched by the boss every single fight. The boss character would know all your moves and every thing you do would be like a cutscene. Then you would bring something out that's new, and defeat the boss. That's just me though.
