I love to make big lures for pike and musky. Topwater is excellent for big pike, been fishing MN and Ontario successfully for years on top. My 1st 50+" (51.25") came on a homemade topwater in Onterio. Looks like a great place to hunt pike. They need to learn to slow it down at times and fig 8. At 19:50 setting down a rod with the lure in the water, will lead to a missing rod seen it happen more than once.

Awesome video! I love the lure selection that Ben sent you. I'm a Minnesota musky fisherman like Ben. He knows his stuff and has a great youtube channel too. Nice job on the pike. And yes, a low speed reel helps crank in those big bucktails. But you still want to bring them in fast - just let the reel's gears do the pulling for you.

Honoustly, those types of lures is all we had and used around the beginning of 2000s. And A lot of people still mainly use musky lures like bucktails, giant jackpots, suicks, manta’s, bulldawgs hellhounds etc. So not surprising they catch big pikes. I personally caught quite a few nice Baltic pike on topwater lures like bucher topraiders. Great video though

Big Muskie MN fisher here, those are just all around solid muskie baits and I am not surprised at all the first catch was on the dusa. Sometimes you need to not worry about how natural a bait looks, but how interesting it might look, when you are approaching apex predators. Being top of the chain, they know they can, and very often will, want to take a close look at things. Just gotta give em a reason to bite.

Sometimes we use 45cm or langer baits in the netherlands for pike! Even small pike take this big baits

When i watch Musky fishing its only followers or a lot of followers, here its suddenly a lot of followers too. So maybe its the lures?
I think it has to do with the size of the baits, we experience more followers the bigger baits we use. Very generally speaking of course. Thanks for watching👍🏻
