The original Aero Wars of NASCAR ended in 1970. Through passion, hard work and dedication; The Garage Shop has brought them back to life with our Ford Talladega and Dodge Daytona. This time, on the historic Bonneville Salts.

Check out two runs over 200 mph on the salt by our drivers Aaron Brown and Vance Kershner.
Wow! The Talledega was really moving! What a car!
Yes, that was its best run by driver Aaron Brown
Really enjoyed this content. Was in my early 20's when the aero war was happening. Great to see the old cars, drivers and crew getting the respect they deserve!
Glad you enjoyed, thank you for watching. Yes, it has been fun bringing back the past
Grown men with large toys. I guess the boy in us never leaves.
No it doesn't I'm 64 and I was outside in the cold working on my bmw track car
Hats off to this crew for bringing back the aero cars! The Talladega exterior they built is quite a bit off from the original though so any smack talk is pointless.
Thank you, we had to add some modern touches here and there
Here from Stapleton's channel and man what a car that Talladega is.
Hello Bubba, welcome to The Garage Shop. Yes, the channel and the car are all pretty awesome
The garage shop. Where can I find more photos of these amazing cars!??!?!
My Money is on the Ford !!!
How much? 😁
Listen to that Hemi sing
Looks like it was a very successful time at the salt flats. Two flat spins that did not result in too much damage and fortunatley with no blowovers and then both cars well over 200 MPH. Very nice to follow the adventures along with you on KZhead.
Thank you Jim, it was a good barometer of what each car can do and we learned a lot out there. Appreciate you following along.
DAMN...................awesome
l live in Australia. just subscribed . saw Stapleton video where you mentioned the cars you took to . Bonneville. Also you have an awesome collection of cars from the real speedway days.
Thank you Robert, appreciate your kind words and following along.
Ford for the win, 👍🏻❤️🤘
Speaking as a Ford guy I think both cars look and run great
Thank you, we do too, Jim
They both sound amazing - slight nod to the Dodge on engine note.
What is the wheelbase of the Talladega?
The Blue Egg Does It Again
Did the Dodge have a restrictor plate...LMBO great job guys
Thank you very much, there was no restrictor plates involved
I'd like to know the differences in the engines. If a current Roush/ Yates motor was used that could explain the difference.
Yes, we use a new Roush - Yates RF 9 engine. It creates some serious steam
The Garage Shop , you just got a new subscriber. Keep those videos coming. How about some videos from on track at Talledega ? You guys are awesome I just retired , are you hiring ?
Hello Adam, and welcome to our KZhead channel. We don’t have a whole Lotta video from Talladega, we only were allowed to be on pit road.
What motor does the dodge have in it?
50 Years ago Bobby went 217 with a hemi 50 Years later 211 what happened ?
This time out, 50 years later… We are looking to honor and match him… Next time, the gloves are off 😁
@@TheGarageShop200 You guys rock...Nothing but class..Much luck
Exactly what I thought. I think Harry Hyde was smarter than these guys.
@@plymouthhemi426 The garage shop rocks..Check out the video as he explains what they tried to accomplish !
Harry Hyde is a legend, no doubt
What engine is in the daytona
Penske Dodge R6
@@TheGarageShop200 sounds so good
I would have expected 230-240+ mph -- is it the track then ? With these engines and cars - which look incredible- I expected much bigger numbers
The elevation has a detrimental effect on hp
At the 2.5 mile mark the salt got pretty sketchy as the days went on.
How about we put a full tilt boogie 426 Hemi in the Daytona and try that again? Or if you want a "modern" motor, the Hellcat Redeye motor?? There's no way the Ford was better aero wise, it just had more motor. Either way - THANK YOU - for doing this. I'd like to see both cars hot lap around Charlotte or Talladega once more as well.
Thank you for your input, we would love to see our cars take a few laps around those tracks, as well.
The talladega torino was much better aero than the Daytona...........that fastback was perfection..........and the Dodge nose created lift, thats why they raked this car so far down to the ground.
thats funny, originally the Fords were better.........uh 29 wins for the Torino vs 6 for the Daytona.
Where's the heavy chevy?
??
@@TheGarageShop200 I think he's implying you guys should build a classic Chevy nascar to complete the holy trinity of Detroit lol
@@SUPRAMIKE18 Ahhh
NEITHER car is anywhere NEAR in the trim or configuration they were in when they raced against each other in 1969 and 1970. But the numbers tell the facts.....Torino 29 wins, Daytona 6 (sort of). Two of the Daytona wins were in races in which there were NO factory fords entered
Talladega Tornio 29 NASCAR wins.........Dodge Daytona 5, 6 if you count the talladega exhibition race of 1969.
Ford is the best that's why nascar is always putting some type of limit on em
They can't talk smack about the Daytona, that Ford is massaged way more than the Daytona.
Trust us, with this group of guys… The smack talk will continue. 😁
The Ford sounds better
