The defense has to be emotional because that’s all they have. The evidence is pretty cut and dried and there really is no logical defense against them. It’s sort of like if you were video tapped doing a murder and trying to craft a defense in the wake of that evidence.

Its a complete travesty of justice that the judge does not allow the defence to subpoena Daniels and Cohen, the two key people involved, to examine them as part of their defence - how can any american honestly say that is right?

The long wait was worthed. Day 7 of the first criminal trial vs the Orange Clown and the details are simply unbelievable.
The prosecutors opening statement was brilliant, the emphasis and repetition of the words “defendant “& “Conspiracy “ laid the groundwork and outline of the entire prosecution. This is exactly what an opening statement should do. Simple, short and sweet. Repetition and then the rest is a fill in for the jury. The rest of the evidence the jury will dovetail into that simple outline and parameters. “Defendant “ “Conspiracy “.

Some defendants wait in jail for their trials who are either a flight risk or a menace in society, but Trump is both & not waiting in jail??
You may be happy to hear that, according to Glenn Kirchner, if Judge Merchan finds Trump guilty of criminal contempt of court for violating his gag order (which he immediately went out and violated again) then it breaches his release conditions in all four trials meaning any one of those four judges can remove his right to be free and he can immediately be jailed pending trial. You know thatd happen to you and me, lets hope one of them has the guts to do it to Trump.

This is so historic. This is the first time we had an ex-President of the USA sitting in a court room accused of a crime. That's the first time in over 240 years of history. This is happening in real time and most of us won't appreciate the magnitud of this event and how our society has changed for the worse because of that one individual.

I;m not always a fan of Ms. Maddow's histrionic style of reporting, but feel her account in this intervirew was absolutely brilliant - so sharply observed and articulately described, not to mention seemingly objective and balanced vs. biased. She was the perfect choice of reporter to be in that courtroom. Kudos to her, MSNBC, and the reporter interviewing her in this video. Just phenomenal reporting. I could listen to this narrative all day long, it's that rich, informative, and fully fleshed out in its descriotions, not to mention, as noted, Ms. Maddow's keen observations and analytical skills.

"Legal Breakdown" with Brian Tyler Cohen and legal analyst Glenn Kirshner, who was in attendance, do a real good job of describing the day from a legal perspective. Glenn articulates very much as well as Rachel, but he is much less polysyllabic and less academic sounding. I do respect Rachel's evident skills very much, but Glenn breaks it down as a longtime former practicing federal prosecuter and he uses language very skillfully without sounding like an obtuse professor. Just another angle on the day's proceedings for anyone interested. ❤
