  • the japanese have the best footage of jackie chan .He was a great superstar in Japan. From 1981 to 1994, Jackie Chan attended many shows in Japan and made a lot of documentary films about him in Japan. Remember what Jackie said in 1984 ((making of "Lucky Stars in Tokio) in a BBC interview he said ; right now The Japanese market is more important than the American market

  • I managed to get up to the Golden Harvest studios in 1994 before it was sadly knocked down a few years later. So many amazing films were filmed in those studio buildings. It truly was the golden age for Hong Kong cinema. Sadly never to be repeated 😥- Antony

    • you're 44 probably... I am 40, and unfortunately here in Romania we haven't had a single JC movie in theaters during the 80s. We lived under the communist regime until 1989 and the movies that were allowed in theaters have been handpicked at that time. I did manage to watch several movies in theaters during that decade (1980-1990) when my parents have taken me along to movies like Star Wars or Sister 13 (these are the only 2 movies that I remember, but there have been others for sure, just no JC movie unfortunately). This being said, as soon as communism has fallen in 1989 (we have executed Ceausescu live, like a bunch of criminal idiots) Romania has gotten access to many good and bad things coming from the West, some of the things being VHS tapes and video recorders, which have been the craze in the 90s. Thus, in early 90s (probably for 4-5 years) I have managed to watch literally 100s of movies on VHS, including lots of JC movies, as well as American Ninja 1&2, many Chuck Norris movies, Universal Soldier, the entire Superman collection, as well as few Batman movies, the Rambo and Rocky series, the Terminator series, Commando, Predator, and many many more that I don't remember at the moment. So yeah, I have watched many of JC's movies of that era - the best movies he's ever made in my opinion - on VHS, and later on, with the emergence of the internet I have downloaded them and watched them on my PC. Even today I still have over 30 of his movies (only those that I like the most, because otherwise I don't like the movies he's made in america, they're too silly and soft for JC's trademark), and I am watching them regularly (several times a year). Been doing this for the last 10-15 years, and I'll not stop until I get bored of watching the same fight scenes over and over again... which will never happen anyway :)

    • no, you don't! Trying to copy JC - and notice that I didn't say SUCCEEDING in copying JC, because that's impossible, but trying only - is bad for 3 reasons... 1) you will never succeed because every person in the Universe is unique in their own way; 2) you will insult JC by trying to be his copycat; 3) you will get paralyzed or die, because you're not Jacky. JC has been a visionary and a leader, it's been his destiny to bridge the gap between the white and the yellow races, and thus he's enjoyed God's protection in everything he's accomplished. You've not been tasked to bridge anything of this magnitude, therefore - for your own good - you should refrain from doing it. Your purpose in life is other than Jacky's purpose, so keep that in mind and everyone will be safe and happy

      @blabla-rg7ky@blabla-rg7ky4 жыл бұрын
    • @@blabla-rg7ky JC is a huge inspiration for me, and I do understand I would never be able to copy him, and thus I wouldn't even attempt to do things he does, but one thing for sure I love is his energy that he putted into his films. I would like to rephrase my intention, which would be to focus my energy on creating action/animated films that has some energy and inspiration form Jackie. Also it is interesting to me that you mentioned that JC has been tasked to bridge the gap between white and yellow race, which I do believe is true and he did it in very creative way to accomplish it. You must be a starseed yourself since you came to that conclusion.

      @miltfox@miltfox4 жыл бұрын
    • @@miltfox no idea what a starseed is, but I assume it's something good, so thanks :) ... Also, sorry for misinterpreting your intentions. At first, I thought you wanted to do action movies and copy his fight scenes (silly me lol), but if your intention was to get inspired by his charisma and dedication, then yeah.... I agree with that, and I condone it. I wish I had the same drive to do the things I need to do as he does, but unfortunately I'm a lazy ass :(

  • Visionaries make the most impact upon the world, and before anything else JC is a visionary. Glad I'm contemporary with him. EDIT: holy shit, the fall at the end! (49:20)... I have never seen that one before, and the fact that he had not died, or remained paralyzed after that fall is only God's doing. God had had a plan with Jacky so He needed him alive

Many times over the last 15 years I have suffered of depression and have lost all willingness and motivation to do anything, but then, after watching JC for a few hours - whether I have watched his movies, or some behind the scenes footage, it didn't matter - I have been able to pull myself together and continue doing what I was doing / had to do. JC is really one of the best role models for me and one of the greatest personalities that I've had the fortune to be contemporary with.
