It's not altruism. They don't believe the planet is about to be destroyed until it is too late and the whole point Zod was banished was BECAUSE he refused to follow the rules of his society.

That’s one of the problems with Batman vs superman. How can Bruce Wayne be a genius detective yet not deduce Kent is Superman brushing his hair differently and wearing glasses. Sherlock Holmes could find the truth from the smallest of details, Bruce is thrown off by glasses.

The best thing about it is that that wasn't even their first try. Green Lantern was supposed to kick off that universe but they decided that it was too shitty, even for them. And despite everything that was wrong with it, Man of Steel is STILL arguably the best DCEU film to date.

That discredits your statement as if you didn’t think it was good enough to stand on its own, so you had to let the reader know that you think it’s funny. Just say your genius comment and since it’s so funny, the reader will get it and think your that much smarter.

@Kryptoskillet Welll, did Pa Kent need to be the guy to go back for the dog? Even without using the super powers, I feel like Clark could've saved the dog without dying? And I think it's kinda funny that the people who owned the dog left it in the car as they left
@Kryptoskillet Seems kinda contrived though doesn't it? And it's really odd to let someone die to hide your identity. Doesn't seem like good ideals for a superhero
@Kryptoskillet I'm not sure. Maybe they spread rumors, maybe they do the spiderman thing and be like "iz okay. We won't tell". It's still a very shitty moral compass if you would let someone die rather than expose your identity and Pa Kent's not really giving the best advice there. If you wanna send the message of "you can't save everyone" with that then just have Pa Kent die of natural causes. Just feels needlessly convoluted to have a tornado
@@bipstymcbipste5641 the Christopher Reeves Superman had Jonathan Kent die of a heart attack not long after Clark started developing his powers. "I have all these powers but I couldn't save him." It really stuck with him and the audience he's not a god. Just a man with gifts who tries to do good in the world.
@@burger_kinghorn It seems like such a good character moment that way and a lesson to superman that not everyone can be saved. I think Snyder wanted the visual of Pa Kent dying in the tornado.
