The final installment in this series! In this video I add siding, a window, trim, soffits, doors, and more to finally wrap this thing up.
As usual, here's a link to my SketchUp model: app.sketchup.com/share/tc/nor...

  • Thoroughly enjoyed this series! A shed is something I’d love to build myself. I’d love to see you compare a traditional lean-to to your post and beam. I know post and beam structures were definitely a go to in Kansas lol and it’d makes sense because of wind and tornados, perhaps makes a stronger structure overall? Can’t wait for the garage tear down and build

    • Glad you enjoyed it, and you should totally do it! It's a good place to mess up 😄 My understanding is that these days with modern building techniques, any type of framed structure can be made to be pretty wind resistant as long as you start with a sufficiently deep foundation, then tie each successive layer to each other. Foundation -> floor -> walls -> roof. On stick-framed structures you can get the aptly-named "hurricane clips" that tie the roof rafters down to the wall top plates which are really handy.

    • @@andymakesstuff Thank you, I don’t know what it is but building structures such as sheds, dog houses, chicken coops, you name it I love and I just need to commit and build a shed. I do love your method, I could see that being a solid foundation as yours is. I’ll definitely utilize the hurricane ties! Thank you for your feedback, this was a blast to watch especially because the way you went with this isn’t as common as a concrete foundation but it’s structurally sound and I can’t wait for garage or next project you pursue! Take care

  • Love this and I am inspired! That is a big step up into the shed. Any steps or ramp in your future? Would love to see that process.

    • Thanks! Yeah definitely planning on adding a ramp / stairs. Figured I'd use it for a while first and see what would be best, but I think I'm leaning towards stairs at the moment. I'll be sure to record it!
