In this video, I take you through a very detailed step-by-step assembly of my new "Prusa i3 MK3S+" 3D printer, and then through testing and calibration. Finally, I show the printing process of the first object to be made on this printer, the common benchmark "Benchy" boat.
Thanks YouTuuba, I replaced a cracked belt tension bracket and then had a bad printer after I replaced that and reassembled the machine. I worked out that the left sided belt pulley and right side idler wheel were too tight and jamming the x-axis mothion. But your detailed calibration section, although slow, matched my observations and attempts to calibrate my machine. The 24/7 tech support is second to none and I got good advice there after showing a few images and short videos via youtube. I enjoyed your channel many times. This was by far the most interesting video I saw on the PRUSA i3 MK3S+ 3D Printer. Other videos show only the fun. You on the other hand showed everything, so the flaws and the tricky things too. Thank you very much for posting.

Outstanding presentation. Thanks for going to all that effort. I just got an E3v2 a few days ago which is giving me nothing but grief (and this is my second round with this model). I'm thinking of sending it back and getting a Prusa, if for no other reason than it being so streamlined and worked out.

i mean, i went with a small MP Select Mini printer to start with... relatively cheap, easily modified and upgradable with a large support community..... but hey..... go right for the Cadillac machine ;)
Great video!.. How is your Prusa doing nowadays?
If the tapping in the extrusion was 'buggered up' as you put it then how do new screws solve the problem? The bad tapping still exists in the extrusion. Future screws will encounter the same problem won't they? Could it have been the threads of the screws that were at fault?
Bob D, the original screws encountered something in the tapped extrusion holes that froze them, and when forcibly backed out, some aluminum from the holes came out stuck on the screw threads. I retapped the holes so that there was at least a clear path for the new screws' thread. I experimentally threaded in the new screws, and they went in 'normally', without unusual resistance, binding, and I could thread them all the way in and them back them out easily. They did not wobble loosely in the holes. This indicated that there was still enough good thread in the holes to allow a good grip between new hole threads and the new screws, although not as strong as optimal. I conferred with Prusa tech support and they concurred that the joint would probably be strong enough, although they offered to send new extrusions. It was my decision to proceed with things the way they were.
The name of the boat is probably 'BoatyMcBoatface' LOL

SNeal5966, no doubt there are other 3D printers of this size that work as well as this printer, for less money (and often a lot less money). But with the Prusa, you are also buying something few others have....all components are very high quality name brand ones, which are less likely to have wear issues or quality control issues (and if a part does go bad, you should have no problems getting replacements), and you also get Prusa's extremely good tech support and community support.

It does seem like you get a lot more for your money with the Prusa units, I just am not sure if you can do better without spending $5K plus......that's what I am wondering. For that money seems to be best option? Also....I am thinking I might as well wait for their new XL version since I don't own a machien now. That looks pretty cool, have you seen that? It's pre-order only at the moment...
Definitely made me rethink getting a prusa. Seems like a lot of adu for very little fanfair. I might just go for a Chinese brand and slap some linear rails on it and call it good. I thought maybe I would see better print quality over other offerings out there, and it doesn't seem to offer a whole lot for your money. Especially with the way the electronics are handled. Say what you would about Chinese brand printers, cramming electronics like that into a plastic box doesn't inspire confidence in the brand. For the price I expected more. Thank you for the video. I just don't like printers with moving beds, it is a cost cutting measure that should simply be forgotten in 2023.
Yes. or go pre order that Bambu P1P. It what I should have done. Its cool for the first 4 hours then you are like, I seriously paid 800 bucks to do this? I am currently on the wiring and found this resource. Like the video said, the instructions for it suck with !!!! connect it correctly or the whole thing gets damage!!! Warnings everywhere. Going to go print the bigger picture becasue the manual one is small and useless. Hopefully I can get it going tomorrow. I already forgot to put 1 square nut in the extruder part....the little lid for the IR sensor, and I wasnt about to pull that thing apart for that one piece. Putting the square nuts into the little built recess almost caused me to put this whole thing in the trash.
Not an expert but from what I've heard the differential is not the quality print but the reliability and long term usage without headaches. I just got an artillery genius pro and is not working at all right of the box so sending it back. I don't think that kind of stuff would happen with a prusa.
@@Drumaier they last about a year before replacing parts.
Listen! I'm working my way up with regards to manufacturers and quality (supposedly) and believe me I did not have any of this assembly palaver with my Wanhao (cheapy) or the one from my local Aldi store (another cheapy). All this hype about the Prusa i3 MK3S is exactly that - HYPE! It is not a quality product! The plastic parts are badly formed and inserting the square and round nuts into them became a major task. And don't get me on about the tapped holes in the frame. AND, if you believe you can do the whole job with the tools provided - think again. The photos are rubbish with some of them not even having a point of view reference. I genuinely am very disappointed with the manual, and the product. I would not buy anoter Prusa printer. Oh, and if you think you're going to assemble this in 8 -10 hours. I would think again.
Revell Cornell, you come across as both foolish and abrasive. Your opinions are just that, and are not as widely shared as you might think. And you must think you are something pretty special to justify your abrupt command of "Listen!".
