This is an HBO Show called OFF THE RECORD that Ringo did with Dave Stewart interviewing. It was released in May of 2008. Great interview from a musicians stand point. I DO NOT own rights to this video. I'm only putting it up to share with other Beatles and Ringo fans. No copyright infringement is meant in any way.

THO i would say that Pete Best was treated in a bad way by John, Paul and George. They should have give him some credit. After all. It`s mentioned in The Beatles Anthology. As Ringo says: "Peace and love"

    • The J, P & G all said that when Ringo came on board is when they became the Beatles. Ringo was the missing link in the sound they were striving for. Pete Best had to go and there is just no nice way to do that sort of thing. It just has to be done. Hurt feelings and all.

  • Ringo was a fantastic part of those Beatles recordings. I always say he played melodic drums because they were such 'tuneful' rhythmic patterns...he composed 'percussive 'tunes' like no other. The list is so long but Hello, Goodbye and She Said, She Said are two fantastic examples. He added immensely to great compositions.

    • He's forgotten his Liverpool roots. Do you think he'd live there? He scooted off to the US and does not even live in the UK. Another David Bowie. All the tosh about him being a Brixton boy when he died. He would not have been seen dead in Brixton, he wanted nothing to do with England when he got rich and famous.

      @treasurehunteruk9718@treasurehunteruk9718 Жыл бұрын
    • @@treasurehunteruk9718 nope, nothiung like that happened, whatsoever. Beatles or Bowie. At the time, the Labour government of Great Britian had unbearablly brutal tax laws of 90% to highest earners, then those who had enough left to save or invest fell into the Supertax rate of 95% to 98& and left with virtually nothing...just crazy. It was not a matter of them turning their backs on Liverpool or G.B. The Beatles had six number-one singles in 1964 and earned $25 million that year. After management/legal/travel expenses they each grossed $4 million. Their country took $3,920,000 of that from each of them, leaving them with only $80,000 each of the $4 million they each earned. After travel and living expenses, they barely broke even. This is while in the U.S. bands that had just one top 40 hit would net nearly 10 times more than the biggest band in the world. The Beatles were never even given the chance to make their talent and success pay off in England. England did not revise their brutal tax laws until well after the Beatles had broken up. None of the great British musicians of that era left England for any other reason than they couldn't survive there because of the insane tax penalties they suffered because of their success. Rock stars of the 1960's and 1970's leaving Liverpool / Great Britain was a simple matter of common sense and survival.. Their own country forced it on them by overly penalizing their success.

    • Your wrong TreasureHunter, besides the brutal tales factores, I think I've never heard a singer/songwriter that refers his hometown in his songs like Ringo! Nice songs, reflections, memories and even the not so nice aspects of the huge port-city of Liverpool like what he told us in 'The other side of Liverpool' from his "Y not" album of 2010. He also has an álbum named after his hometown: "Liverpool 8" (2008).

  • I remember back in 1978 when I was just 10 yrs old and some friends in my neighborhood started a small band and the hippie parents at the cul-de-sac on our street used to call me Ringo because I was the drummer. I didn't even know who he was at that time but once I found out, he was my main influence ever since. Ringo is amazing because he's the only drummer that I learned to not just play rhythm but to also play the beat for the melody of the song and especially for the singer. He may not be the flashiest drummer ever but he is the master of an almost melodic but steady pop groove. I also love the side to side swipe of the high hat like a paint brush strike he used as opposed to the standard strait down bang. It creates a totally different sound a feel to percussion. He's a complete original and all around great guy! Most importantly he taught me that less is actually more. He got more out of a 4 or 5 piece kit than anyone else on the planet. Lastly, if you believe the old rumors about the real Paul McCartney dying in 1966 then Ringo really is the last living Beatle!

    • Ringo is famous for his unique technique playing the hi hat using a windshield wiper blade motion . many small cars had just one wiper blade mounted in the center of the windshield on a pivot and the blade went from side to side . think of holding a small flag and waving it back and forth thats the motion Ringo uses playing his hi hat . his drumming is as unique as the melodies that George John and Paul created. He certainly was the heart beat of the Beatles. ❤🥁

    • +Da Critter George was down to earth as well... I could easily hit it off with those 2 like brothers, but it might not be nice to hurt Paul or John's feelings

    • Loved the interview. Ringo is so self deprecating. He is so matter of fact with the technical side of his music. He clearly talented but makes it sound like he was just messing around. It's coming out why he did things the way he did like being a left handed player on a right handed drum kit for example. His adaptations were intuitive but he did create a special and unique sound.

    • plusfour1 George was a big help in introducing the others to the traditional sounds of India to use on later album(s)

  • He's so lovely. I always loved him but I learned so much more about him here. One of the most "grown up" and humble musicians of his time. Highly underrated.

  • We were 16 in the Midlands UK not far from Sheffjeld and Liverpool, just about to leave Hugh School and we lived live bands and the new music. Then along cane the Beatles with that sound and rhthyms that went in our ears and filled ur souls till we felt so alive, really alive!. Paul Mc Cartney ,uses the word magic 'magic' and it still is! Over the past couple of days I've focussed on KZhead features on Ringo's drumming and re-listening to the music from a different anggle which has given a whole new dimension to my pleasure in Beatles music. Thank you Ringo, you have given me so much over the years, the glue between the words that made the music so strong. LOVE Eunice
