During a relaxed exploration of the Desert, things suddenly turn grim when Derp is kidnapped by a bandit group that runs an illegal fighting arena! Meeting new friends and powerful enemies, Derp will have to fight for his survival in the desert arena!

I love how derp's fighting style has a clumsiness to it, he's like that one player who unintentionally does cool stuff.

what I really like about this animation is that they finally gave depth to characters that aren't just the main, each character had such a unique fighting style fitting to their personality and the back and forward tension was really good. It wasn't rendered as well and the start was a bit fast/confusing but this is one of the best if not the best animation since a long time.

Even without dialogue, I could tell the context and how the characters interact with each other. The tuning in their reactions, interactions and personality are great in this.
Not only that, the choreography, camera work, story writing and the obviously fluid animation is absolutely flawless. I’m glad to be able to stick to this content for so long.

Great debut animation by Zilleyon. Been a slower year from us, but got some more coming out this month + a big next year planned, so it shouldn't be so quiet from us. "Noob" has such a neat combat style in this Especially love that he showed up to the "final boss fight" with an armful of weapons XD The way he manipulated the chains (sticking them to a wall with a sword, turning them to a tripping hazard) was pretty cool

I really like how derp got his own adventure and getting through alot in his character development, he can be a main character for any reasons, even his fish companion who just can breath air for unknown reason that i cant find rn
Congratulations to Zilleyon for getting to direct a Squared Media production! This is one of the few BPS animations I've watched where I really felt his animation style. When I heard that he had directed this, I knew I was in for a treat, but I didn't expect it to be such a cinematic masterpiece for a shorter production. Not only did every movement have fluidity, but weight and intention. The fight scenes in this were phenomenal, and you could really feel the difference in styles between characters. But their personalities showed even outside the arena, in just how they entered the room. Even the score was amazing and carried the weight of every moment. The shot composition and just how everything all fit together was perfect. This had SoW and Starfall vibes, and it didn't even have voice acting.
Besides the AMAZING animation, I really love the way that four of the fighters survived and not just Derp. I was devastated when the blond guy was eliminated but thanks to the director, he and his three other friends escaped in the end.
honestly, i dont know what it was, but it really felt like i just watched a whole movie that was an hour long in one sitting, the characters felt so alive and the fighting movements were literally incredible, you guys really never fail to bring minecraft to life, ill always come back to this channel from time to time to appreciate every single moment of such amazing artists and work behind these, because this is what makes everything shine to its potential. just scrumptious job to everyone that has worked behind this. supremacy to derp as well
and one more thing, you guys literally never fail to portray the story and the characters interactions without any voice acting, its always so mesmerizing and you can tell of what theyre on about, its really awesome

@@Shrewstorm1exactly! this is what makes me inspired and of what makes me admire the people behind the animations and the productions, the characters need to be portrayed through feelings and when i say feelings i mean THE feels, you need to see it yourself through the screen and to, by any chance, make it relatable or so, for you to understand clearly of whats going on, which is also one of the main things what makes them shine and for the whole product to actually be good on its own, ive always loved whenever people focus on the little details when in reality they can be big indeed
So real, It was worth watching it and i was hyped with the Fights, This must be my most liked Minecraft Animation out of all of Black Plasma Studios (Squared Media)'s animations.
I know, right? I kept checking this was a 20 minute video because something in my brain convinced me I’m watching Gladiator again.

I don't know if I would say that was the "best" fight animation from this channel. I mean, we still have Songs of War and Zombie Apocalypse to consider, but I will admit, this one is a strong contender.

I love the main cast here, all effectively visually characterized which is an incredible feat, Great job Zilleyon We have our og, Derp, an initially underestimated but actually very experienced fighter(has endured several apocalypses with combat skill and quick thinking alone), so much so he can spare enemies with ease. This compassion is also what helps him get out the arena and escape The best friend, the Sleep Deprived one, an ultimately decent sociable guy with a good moral code and sense of honor, also sparing those he could. Also extremely skilled, he would have likely beaten the Hammer Champion if he saw through his opponent’s “challenge” mid ways in the fight as a deception to win. And even then he probably planned that out to ease the escape and got him able to freely get Derp out too The Green eyed great sword guy, a very smart man also decent guy, skilled and kind enough to spare his enemies. He appears to have been there awhile, but used that time effectively to eventually plan his escape, capable of utilizing the Murder Girl’s own reputation and some good acting to fake his own death and then secure both an escape route with time to get friends out And Murder Girl, similarly to the Green eyed guy, has been there awhile. However she seems resigned to her life there, likely killing her opponents to spare them from becoming monsters alive, and living without a care in the arena because she and everyone else will likely die at any time. However she hold no lost love for her captors and is trying to survive like everyone else. She seems to hold a sense of honor as well, coming back to save Derp likely due to him sparing her and she escapes fine for repaying him
I cannot stop rewatching the part where Derp utilized everything he had in his disposal to get a very satisfying blow (and sound) straight to the head of the Gladiator Nevertheless, the animation is so well made, especially the fight scenes because of how they have this weighty feel to have this impact of the weapon mixed with the fantastic fighting choreography Moreover, each character had so much personality and a unique fighting style exclusive to them displayed in this video. Hands down, one of my favourite Squared Media videos
Thats why Derp is my favorite character. Although he looks, well weird, he is extremelly smart and resourceful. He makes use of literally everything, and this fight alone proves that he is one of the greatest characters in squared media.

I've learnt today to never judge others by their looks! This has to by far be one of the best animations I've seen here, the fighting is really great and each of the character's personality are very cool and fitting and you can understand what each character is "saying" even if they don't talk.
All the sound effects, effects, and music too. They were all stunning. There were also such adorable moments!! also the transitions lmao...
Huge respect for the extremely talented animators who created and worked on this.
FACTS
The new combat style Zilleyon has brought to the team is incredible! I especially like the particle effects on weapon clashes & the lithe, fast-paced combat. The only (very slight) issue I noticed is that the background characters often have synced up animations (since the same animation was copy-pasted on multiple spectators). But some minor things are to be expected on a new director's first video. IMO this is one of the best animations Squared Media has released in a long time!

Arbiter617 would be proud of Derp for this. Not only did he survive all the challenges of the Arena, he managed to beat it to the end, then escape with his new friends.
I really love the fact that after all this time, you can still make your animations look so good! I would say my favorite part was where the noob's newest friend was able to split his double sided blade into 2 so that he could have double the weapons. No joke, but this is one of my more favorite animations from the recent category I've ever seen.

I loved the animation and the choreography. The movements for the people with the bladed weapons were fluid almost like a dance fitting considering how some of them were used while the big guy holding the hammer was stiff which fit's well with what he is using and I love how deep's movements looked almost sluggish and uncoordinated showing that he has little combat experience but over time he gets better and better. I also liked that girl with the blades, her mouth looked like it's was doing the 'OwO' face which was cute but the way it was drawn was a little weird but still cute also I liked how the way her mouth moved it made her look like cute, sadistic and seductive at the same time.

I love how the characters move. I can't explain why, but it gives them so much more personality
Probably my favorite thing about these animations is how they can tell an entire deeply written and lore filled story without the use of a single line of dialogue. Keep up the great work
I really liked the derps side of his mercifulness and the fighting, the fighting really is detailed, I loved the fighting the most. Make more fighting scenes (especially with swords).

I remember being super impressed with zilleyons songs of war fight scenes, really cool to see him direct his own animations. Reminds me of the og animations like survival games
I find myself coming back to this animation frequently. If only we could all be master martial artist parkour ninjas. Getting around places would be so much more fun.

Terrific job by Zilleyon himself! It's so awesome seeing his talent over the years coming together for this animation, hands down some his best work yet. Though the fights were the highlight, the other elements like composition, music and sound and the story itself was also really well done. Great that you managed to balance the action with story beats and character focus so you can actually get invested in the characters themselves, something that was refreshing to see. Congratulations on becoming a director Zilleyon, I'm so keen to see your future projects and what other stories you tell!

Gotta say, this is probably the best animation you guys have put out in a while (Other than the Alex and Steve Finale). The characters were really well put together, there was weight and suspense, and the animation took itself seriously which I REALLY appreciated. The fight scenes were excellently animated and put together. I wish the escape itself was more fleshed out and you felt the suspense and struggle of trying to escape the arena (though I loved the one-shot through the cave). You seem to have a cinematic eye, please continue directing animations Zilleyon. Also I hope this turns out into a trilogy. The second focusing on a bounty hunter chasing after them or the necromancer. The third with the main bad guy and his army. Thanks for listening to my Ted talk. 9.5/10 REALLY REALLY GOOD

it's crazy how derp adapted so fast
The storyboard and cameraangles were amazing. The faces and arms show more emotion which is important when there is no dialogue and something about that girl's face is intentionally seductive.
That might have just been THE best Deep movie yet. Storyline is very compelling and the fighting animations are so crisp and fluid! :D Absolutely splendid work.

Absolutely amazing, I was in awe after Derp's fight with the girl and even more after during the Derp vs Knight fight, Zilleyon just brings the fight to life, and for his first video I have to say this is easily the best animation I've seen on this channel in a long time, not that the others aren't good, but the clashes, particles, and the way the warriors flow with their weapons is just amazing, 11/10, please keep Zilleyon on the team, and keep up the amazing work.
i love this story, and it is so impressive that this whole story is told in a beautiful way without anyone talking in the story.

I love how each character has a purpose, depth, and all unique. They don't feel like they are filling in an empty spot but, in fact, are part of the story. We have been given the chance to know each character and therefore have something on the line when they are in the arena. The story telling alone makes this the best animation all year, and we haven't even spoken about the insane quality of the animation itself along with the composition, lighting, and sound design. Everything is just perfect.
Amazing, love every aspect of this video it felt real because of how each character was unique and has their own personalities and fighting style. This was very entertaining and fun to watch pls make more like this

Really epic animation Zilleyon! The fights are super cool and impactful and the music choices are really good! The ending feels really intense and cool. Honestly literally the best i have seen so far that i seen from you guys, I mean I don't think I even need to mention the indebt fighting style owned by each character but my favorite part was that the first time ever I witnessed an uwu face in black plasma studio animations (squared media) really hats off to you!💜!
I have to commend Zilleyon on the absolutely fantastic music and sound effects in this animation. The music really drew me into the story and fitted the characters and scene well and the well defined sound effects of the clashing weapons immersed me into the scene as if i was in the colosseum. I also love the style of animation that has no voice, just showing the depth of the characters with facial expressions and body language and occational hinting text.

Can we just acknowledge that Noob's fish is probably secretly a god, doesn't take damage, both by taking it and having its body used as a weapon, can move on its own on land besides just flopping around, and that it doesn't need water to survive
When you turned into Squared Media, I thought you just changed a name because crucial members left (They will be alwyas in hearts of us, the OG audience) but NO! The animation changed SO MUCH and I can't complain! The movements are incredibly smooth, believably unbelieveable fighting has been remade from scratch, the story is just gold like always, special 2D effects are jsut so well implemented that they're noticable while not disturbing the main 3D element, this all in 20 minutes! (I believe that it is roughly 5 minutes longer than you guys did before) Squared Media was NOT a downgrade, in fact, the exact opposite ❤

This is the best video you guys have made since the rebrand, and it's a good deal better than a lot of the OG Black Plasma videos too! Listen to the praise in the comments; it's true. I could nitpick about the speed at which you changed camera angles during slower or faster portions of the story, or a bit of obscurity in the story itself - but a bit of genius covers a lot of flaws. Blockmen have never had so much personality. Good work, Zilleyon. Don't be afraid to take your time to make videos of this quality. Also that moment where the guy snapped his doubleblade in half was legendary
