Led Zeppelin: Bron-Yr-Aur - Non-Album Tracks, 1970
I've posted two albums of Led Zeppelin stray tracks that roughly correspond with the studio albums "Led Zeppelin I" and "Led Zeppelin II." This one compliments "Led Zeppelin III." All the songs from it were recorded in 1970, the same year that album came out.
The band's third album was surprisingly acoustic in sound compared to the first two. This is connected to the fact that the band spent an extended time practicing and songwriting in a cottage in rural Wales known as Bron-Yr-Aur. This was a very creative time for the band, writing many songs not only for "Led Zeppelin III," but also a bunch of songs that would appear on later albums.
As a result, this album has some musical consistency, even though it comes from a variety of sources, both official and unreleased, and live and studio. There are a few rockers, but most of the songs are acoustic in nature.
Some songs here are very well known, especially "Hey, Hey What Can I Do," a B-side that still get frequently played on classic rock radio stations. There are a few other songs that were released on various additions of the "Coda" outtakes album. But others are obscure, some even by serious fans of Led Zeppelin bootlegs.
For instance, with the instrumental "Guitar Melody," I listened through an entire album of acoustic instrumentals from around 1970. Most of them were unremarkable, but I liked this one. It had no time, so I gave it one to differentiate it from the other acoustic instrumental on the album. There are a few bum notes played by the lead guitar. I tried to fix some of those by patching in the same note being played elsewhere in the song. But that didn't work every time, so I had to leave some of the bad notes alone.
The bonus track also deserves some explanation. The band initially recorded the rocking instrumental "Jennings Farm Blues." They recorded the song many times, and considered not only putting it on the album but also releasing it as a single. But somehow after lyrics were added it turned into the thumping acoustic song "Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp," and put it on the album. I wasn't impressed with the instrumental. However, somone on KZhead named slumpytube cleverly added just the vocals from "Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp" to the instrumental "Jennings Farm Blues." I liked that more, but it was only two and a half minutes long, while the instrumental ran longer. So I edited his edit to include another minute and a half of some nice guitar soloiing.
I only included this as a bonus track because it's not that different from the song that made it on the album. But still, I think most fans of the band will find it interesting.
01 Hey, Hey What Can I Do (Led Zeppelin)
02 St. Tristan's Sword [Instrumental] (Led Zeppelin)
03 Poor Tom (Led Zeppelin)
04 I Gotta Move - Bottle Up and Go (Led Zeppelin)

06 We're Gonna Groove (Led Zeppelin)
07 Boogie Chillun - Fixin' to Die - That's Alright, Mama (Led Zeppelin)
08 White Summer [Instrumental] (Led Zeppelin)
09 Key to the Highway - Trouble in Mind (Led Zeppelin)
10 Guitar Melody [Instrumental] (Led Zeppelin)

Thanks again to Peter from the Albums I Wish Existed blog for the cover.
Stunning music, thanks Paul 👍
I was just a kid in the 70s and started listening to Zepplin when I was around 7 years old. Within a few years, I bought every single album. I’ll never forget what a treat “hey hey, what can I do” seemed when it first played on the radio. It was like a discovered treasure! Later, I acquired the rare single for the Immigrant Song, which had it on the B side. Thinking back on it all now, as a seven-year-old kid, listening to the likes of Zeppelin, The Stones, Pink Floyd, The Doors, etc. I can’t help but cherish what a gift that music was. I also worry about the kind of music seven-year-olds are listening to today. I don’t wanna sound like that old person, but there was a certain culture of drilling down with only a few albums. It forced you to really listen. I have a hunch that that isn’t happening today because of the overload of music available. Regardless, I hope some of the younger kids discover the difference between organic musicians who have authentically mastered their instruments versus those who tinker with loops/computers. Thanks for posting!
those with good taste will find these gems, i know i did when turned 19. 21 today and still rocking out, what a magical feeling , very unexplainable yet so pure, driving through mountains and hillsides honestly brings out those good feels.
As a Zeppelin fan this might sound crazy, but I like Hootie and the Blowfish's version of Hey Hey What Can I Do better. If you haven't heard it, you should check it out.
Exelente Amigo.!!! Nací en el 66 Vivimos lo Mismo.!!! Aun conservo vol.III Vol.II y muchos discos más.!!!! Saludos desde Mendoza Argentina.!!!!
@@mikegrand4181 Thanks for the info! I’ll be checking that out for sure 🙏
Check out an album called "Encomium a tribute to led zeppelin." It has the best version. I've heard some live versions on youtube that don't sound nearly as good.@@houdinididiit
Ouço LZepp desde 1970. Cresci ouvindo isso aí. Graças a Deus eu pude !!!
Everything from Led Zeppelin is from heaven, greatest group of musicians ever! ! Can't get enough of them, never ever!
🎉 they are the most beautiful amazing rocking band I grew up listening too. Now still listening and blazing this music with a legal Mari on Guam. And I am over 60! 😅
Anybody that knows me has heard me call them 'The Greatest Band to Ever Walk the Face of the Earth.' Period. Dot.
Absolutely!!
Koja je ovo kompilacija??? Odakle ovaj materijal???
Odakle je ovaj materijal,???
I started to listen to rock music (including Led Zeppelin, of course) few years later, about 1975, mainly because of there wasn't rock on radio and in shops in communist Poland, but I became truly believer of rock'n'roll right from the beginning. And I suppose that Led Zeppelin was one of the greatest bands of all time. Long live rock'n'roll!❤
Here in Texas we love the independent spirit of Poland. Long live rock and roll.
And here in Poland we admire the independent free spirit of true Americans. Long live the rock'n'roll and the United States of America!
Ta muzyka to jak powiew wiatru z gór znad morza perfect W moim sercu i duszy pozostanie na zawsze bo ta muzyka lat 60 tych i 70tych ma duszę

Loved to listen to them in the 70s on acid. WONDERFUL TIMES. SUCH A TRIP!
Thank you for sharing this! I was addicted to Led Zeppelin as a kid, still love them.
Hola.
I'm sixty one, and I agree with Carlos completely.

I’m a few months older. Physical Graffiti was my first LP, but many of my friends were 2 years older, so I heard a lot of great early 70s stuff. My friends divorced mom had The Doors, Jimi, Beatles, Tom Jones….. Those 9 volt radios!
I was 14 in 1970! ❤❤
And I was teen but I loved LedZep !
@@jirichochola4841 Love Jimmy Page w/ The Yard Birds & his group The Firm he had!
@@Russell-hd1pmI was 13 then. After I heard LZ on a deep cut FM station in Florida you couldn't get me to listen to anyone else.
I was born in 70 lol😊
I was 6! The 70's were the BEST! I shared a room with my brother that is 10 yrs older than me. For some reason our room was decorated with door beads, lava lamps, a black light, swirly glow posters and rock bands. Sometimes our room smelled funny too. I thought it was just those sticks burning🤣 Grew up with the best music! LZ rocks!!
Excellent upload, much appreciated 😎👍
I love LZS acoustic tracks! The Mandolin and Page just has his own style that’s amazing. You know right away that it’s Zeppelin! Nobody else plays like that and sounds like them! Thanks!!
Check out Bert Jansch solo or his band pentacle, their acoustic English folk was a bit of an inspiration to LZ.
Jansch "black waterside" you will recognize right off.

Super GREAT Legends!! LOVE!! Thank You!! Val
thats alright now Mama. great session
Merci pour ce cadeau de Noel!
Thanks for compiling these! Great to have something fresh to discover and even better to experience as an album.
Best band ever. Lucky to see them in Copenhagen 1979

All I can say is Thanx a million for all 5 of these Zeppelin Masterpieces you have compiled for us Hardcore Zeppelin Fans. My 3 Days After is hearing their first album on 1-12-69. The 7th track on this album sounds like Plant’s voice was run through a “ Leslie rotating speaker system “ , but slightly faster than usual….. I could most definitely be mistaken however . Thanks for sharing this compilation of Zeppelin songs . Merry Christmas to everyone today . 😎👍
Well dude, your a fckng legend. Thank you. I appreciate your magic, especially on the second song, the first instrumental "Tristans Sword." Great work shows devotion. New sub. Peace, Prosperity & Good Health. 🎅
Fantastic work! New here. LZ is my #1 since 1968 when i was nine years old. I love what you're doing. However, I would like to comment on your notes. You say you tried to patch in proper notes. Personally, I think you should leave them as they are. It's 'more real'. Nobody minds Jimmy hitting a sour note! He's not perfect. Well, not THAT perfect, lol. Keep doing what you're doing!
Sheer and utter class.

In terms of the transliteral meaning of Bron-Yr-Aur, it lived up to its English meaning: Hill of Gold. (Or should should it called Hill of Platinum?). Thanks for the Video, it was excellent!
Why not just call it Hill of Gold then? Bron Yr Aur sounds mildly scatalogical.
It's Welsh. From the mystic land of Wales, home of the Misty Mountains. That reminds me of my bootleg entitled Misty Mountain Crop. LedHed Pb 207.20 🎶 🎸 🎹
