M2 Bradley crews fire the 25 mm M242 Chain Gun and Tube-launched Optically-tracked Wire-guided (TOW) missiles from their Bradley Fighting Vehicles on simulated objectives during live-fire exercises.
The crews conduct training maneuvers, demonstrate combat power and proficiency.
The trainings was conducted to assess operational effectiveness.
The M2 Bradley, or Bradley IFV, is an American infantry fighting vehicle that is a member of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle family. It is manufactured by BAE Systems Land & Armaments, which was formerly United Defense.
The Bradley is designed for reconnaissance and to transport a squad of infantry, providing them protection from small arms fire, while also providing firepower to both suppress and eliminate most threats to friendly infantry. It is designed to be highly maneuverable and to be fast enough to keep up with heavy armor during an advance. The M2 holds a crew of three: a commander, a gunner and a driver, as well as six fully equipped soldiers.
The total cost of the program is $5,664,100,000, and the average unit costs $3,166,000.

  • The Bradley did it's job in Iraq. But it's funny seeing arm chair generals spouting about shit they saw in a movie. But never saw combat with them. I was a Bradley mechanic for 15 years and did 3 Iraq tours and was also a recovery guy. I know for a fact I towed in more blown up and damaged vehicles in one tour than 98% of the people in my job back then. The Bradley saved lives and that is a fact.

  • For most of my time in the army, I was a Bradley dismount (apparently one of the non-existent guys in the back) and a driver for a short while. For the most part, a very comfortable vehicle to ride in (and fun to drive) with a great heating system unless you were the driver or in the turret. Ridiculously hot in the driver's seat and freezing in the turret. I for one was very grateful to have the Bradley as the vehicle I would have gone to war in had it come to that. When I first arrived in Germany, I was assigned to the anti-armor company (Echo) in our battalion which was equipped with the M901 ITV (Improved TOW Vehicle). They were getting ready to transition to the Bradley, so the M901's were being prepared for turn in since the Bradley already had the twin TOW launcher, making the ITV's redundant. When that was complete, we were all dispersed to the line companies.

Simultaneously my stepdad worked on the Bradley ifv while I worked on original Teledyne Turbo Diesel for M60A3 and first of 120mm munitions for M60 and M1A1 transition from 105mm. We perfected Turbo Diesel for Israel Merkava that is still in use. Both FMC and Teledyne partnered with Israeli Defense Forces. My almost 4 decades with Teledyne/DoD and my stepdad losing his Life in accident on FMC remote firing range for Bradley Testing made being unseen sacrifice in Winning the Cold War. I'm retired now and he's long dead. USA forgot heroes of the Cold War, but we are everywhere and our family's Sacrifices were quite real. The Gulf War and later "push to Baghdad" had a Million invisible patriots behind our boys and girls in uniform. Cold War wasn't as "Cold" as history books tell it. It was a true Team Effort. I owe great debt to US Taxpayers who supported the effort during Ronald Reagan administration who put the "coup de grace" on the USSR. 30 years ago the effort was quite real. USA may be FAR from perfect but Thank God the USSR folded rather than start WW3. No parades necessary.

I was then off to the Fulda Gap for 20 months in support of a Cav troop. Now 50 years later I can tell you the Cold War is not over. Europe has not funded, equiped, organized, or trained to rebel a Russian invasion. Frankly, I don't think the Russians would invade because much of Europe is a basket case of ineptitude and corruption. All the US paratroopers and Cav units would be "speed bumps" just like we were in my day and there will be no NATO landing to drive them out if "the little green men" crossed the borders.

Our troop got to play Opfor for the squadron, we were set up in an OP high up both observing and extending the range of our Troops radio transmission (can't for the life of me remember what it's specifically called), you could hear the Bradley's coming for a half hour before they were in visual range. They just echoed through the valley. An abrams could move quieter lol. Glad I was always in a truck.
