  • One of the most intriguing parts of this Barbara is that in the beginning she is insecure of her looks and self even to a point of self hatred but as the movie progresses she becomes more beautiful in the eyes of everyone but she still isn’t happy. It’s not until she is in her cheetah form that to most is monstrous that she feels the most like herself and is the form she doesn’t want to give up

      @secondarycontainment4727@secondarycontainment472710 ай бұрын
    • Well it’s fundamental to the cheetah character. In the comics she is the wife of an abusive plant god. He makes her basically into an animal and a cannibal and despite Wonder Woman offering her her freedom, Barbara will always choose to be the cheetah. Cheetah is symbolism for women who refuse to leave abusive relationships because of the power that may come with that relationship. Greed is Cheetah’s sin

    • See, I'm not so sure about that. Maxwell Lord is a great character, going off the comics. And his reveal as a villain (after years of seeming mostly okay) was really disturbing. I wouldn't have minded the idea of Lord serving as the primary antagonist, and Barbara being manipulated into working for him as more or less his muscle. (Especially after the Rebirth era of comics reimagined her story as being more of a tearjerker in general). The problem is, this movie didn't really know what to do with either one of them.

    • I think it tugs at the heart strings more. We, as the viewers, like both characters and don't want to see them as enemies. However, Kristen has been neglected a lot in her life, so her new power gives her an intoxicating freedom she can't resists abusing. Also, she admired Diana so much. Not just her strength and beauty, but her kind heart also. When she gained these new powers, her strength and beauty (really, just her confidence, her beauty was always there, but she didn't see it in herself), her selfishness took over. So, even with her new glory, she is still not as great as Diana. Kristen's character's self loathing is the cause of all her problems.

That being said I believe the movie went wrong for these reasons: People thought the animations were bad, the plot wasn't entirely thought out, and the fight scenes didn't make sense. Also the physics of her rope and flying were critiqued. I don't share these opinions. I was entertained by the color palate of the film, Kristen, and Gal Gadot.

While I've enjoyed the Wonder Woman movies, I don't feel like either one hit it out of the park. If Gal Gadot and Kristen Wiig could square off in one more film without any romantic side stories or crazy men granting wishes from a rock, the foundation would be solid for a jaw-dropping cinematic experience. I feel more confident right after watching! It's hard to watch male transformations like this! In most cases, they just get stronger and more muscular. 😅

  • i mean.... the inconsistancies of dc universe powers are just absurd, look how wonderwoman just got tripped over just by a mortal man falling on her. in other movies from the same universe , she just powered through giant bolders and could hold a candle to doomsday. and causally throwing world war 1 tanks around, and taking artillery shots like its nothing. same could be said about liturally any other hero in the dc universe.
