Charlie: All black with no thumbs. He thinks he's spiderman and climbs in the window screens. His favorite snack is wtv book I'm currently reading.
Clawdia: Black and white with a beauty mark. She has thumbs... wouldn't surprise me if she stole them. She's pure chaos but she purrs and cuddles me so it's fine.
Chunky: Black with a white patch on his chest. Has thumbs. Needy, crusty, whiny baby... can't live without him.

What are the best books you’ve read so far in 2024?
My favorites are The Passage (horror/sci fi) and Camelot (historical fiction/fantasy). Can’t wait to read The Will of the Many when I get it from my sister!
Buzz, sting, bite: why we need insects. A non fiction book I picked up on a whim and enjoyed a lot! I learned a lot of fun facts. Highly recommend! I also really enjoyed the city of nightmare duology. I normally don’t read books in a series so quickly after another but these were such addicting reads and got me out of a slump. So I just have to mention them.
I finally read the Themis Files -series and really enjoyed it! I think the first book was my favorite but all three were still totally worth it
One of my top books so far this year is from the same author as Part of Your World. Just for The Summer is her newest book, I preordered it and read it as soon as it arrived. Part of Your World is still my favorite but Just for The Summer is a close second. Abby Jimenez just seems to be really good at writing characters that feel like real people but also people I'd like to be friends with. They have an undercurrent of kindness to them.
Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson and My mother the Psychopath
3 videos in one week?! 🤯 this is Christmas 🔥🔥🔥 thank u so much
I hadn’t had the time to edit all my videos lately and I’m trying to catch up 😂
10 minutes and 38 seconds was soooo good. It was one of my favourite reads of 2019 and I still think about it randomly from time to time.
Just finished “10 minutes and 38 seconds” yesterday! İ really like Elif Shafak’s work and this was no exception. İ can highly recommend “Honour” to you. İt’s as traumatizing but definitely her best work!
I watch your videos for your reviews even though we have different tastes and of course, the cats. 📚🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛📚
Just borrowed the audiobook of 10 Minutes 38 Seconds! I’m excited to listen to that one after I finish Jade Legacy. Your vlog really got me so interested in it! It sounds sad but with the purpose of making some social commentary and showcasing the importance of friendships. Heavy books work for me because I feel like they depict society more accurately, tbh. I tend to really enjoy books like that. Thank you for all your awesome recommendations Emily! 😊
I also added that book to my tbr. I hope you like it!
Yes!! I love darker books for similar reasons. Once in a while a fluffy one is fun but I always go back lol
Love this camera setup!
That’s good because the next video is also like this 😂❤️
I’m proud of you for dipping your toes more into the Romance genre
Just a toe though :P
English is not your first language? Wow, you can't tell. You speak so well. Very interesting books you are recommending. Will have to check some of these out. Thanks!
I read Part of your world last month and it's also one of my favorites this year! Otherwise I would say the Scythe trilogy, I loved all 3 books!
I've read some amazing books so far this year! For non-fiction I would definitely recommend "Invisible Women" by Caroline Criado Perez, (which explores how the modern world - from infrastructure to jobs to housing to medicine - has been designed primarily with men in mind) and " Messalina: A Story of Empire, Slander and Adultery" by Honor Cargill-Martin, (which examines the facts around the Roman empire's most maligned emperial woman) For fiction "Love in the Big City" by Park Sang Young was a re-read and I got even more out of it this second time (and even, by some twist of fate, got to talk to the English translator about it!!!). I also couldn't put down "His Only Wife" by Peace Adzo Medie, I'm not sure I agree with all the blurbs that call it hilarious but it was definitely a compelling read!
I'm finally reading The Fifth Season, and I'm really enjoying it. I just finished Alex & Me, which I thought wasn't going to be that engaging, but I really liked learning about the scientist's journey with parrots, Alex in particular.
The Fifth Season is really something!
Your reviews are so fun & lively.
Thank you
Hi! I'm so glad I found you here! I used to watch your KZhead about makeup (would still love to see new videos btw)
Random comment but that dark green colour looks amazing on you! 🖤
Thank you!!
I also thought of MLMs when I read The Will of the Many - it’s totally that! Didn’t help that I’d recently read Hey, Hun, a non-fiction with the author talking about her experience in MLMs 😂
Great reviews Emily thanks for the recommendations 📙🩷📚📚🩷📙🩷🩵📖📖💙💙💖💖❣️🌸🌞🪷💚💓💜💜💛💛🌹🌹💘💕🌈🌈🫶🏻💘🌻🌼🌸💛💖❣️🩷📚📚🩵📙🧡🧡📙🩵📚📖💖💖💜💜❣️❣️💚💛💛💛💚💙💙🌞🌞
I really like Elif Shafak's writing. My favourite book by her is The Island of Missing Trees. It's beautifully written 😀
I haven't had a fantastic reading year so far, and most of my top rated books have been nonfiction, but my best books have been Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands, Bookshops & Bonedust, Starter Villain, and Romancing the Duke (which I picked up on a whim because I haven't been in a historical romance mood for a long time and it was a pleasant surprise). My biggest disappointments have been Interesting Facts About Space and The Last Unicorn.
For fiction book by far Nicola Vath: The Rule of Three. I can't wait for the 2nd book in the trilogy.
Hello, I have some favourites recommendations: - Non-fiction: Humankind. A hopeful history - Historical fiction: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peal Pie Society (LISTEN, I don't usually pick up WWII books either BUT this one was sooo cozy! My favourite read of that year!) - Fantasy: The Neverending Story Why you should read them? Because most of my top 20 reads you also like!
My favorite so far is A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon. I know I am late in the game lol. It's even better than Priory somehow! Right now I am finishing One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez (I love magical realism) with I Who Have Never Known Men next up. Woot!
I liked the prequel better too!! Definitely let me know how "I Who..." goes!
Best novel I’ve read so far has been the stormlight archive, the best comic series has been Akira by Katsuhiro Otomo (I highly recommend this series even if you don’t read comics)
My best book so far this year was “What You Are Looking For is in the Library” by Michiko Aoyama. It is such a good, inspiring, cozy book!
I have a difficult time with romance too! I want to enjoy them but I noticed I get the ick with the dialog and certain tropes 😅
So fsr my favourites have been Barbarian Lover by Ruby Dixon and A Court Of Silver Flames by Sarah J Maas! .
I normally can't stomach romance books; however, the Jimenez one sounds like it might be fun and something light to throw in my bag.
My favorite fiction book so far this year has been The Physician's Daughter by Martha Conway. My favorite nonfiction so far was Dead Mountain: The Untold True Story of the Dyatlov Pass Incident by Donnie Eichar.
I'm currently reading the Will of the Many right now!!! It's SOOO good!
Yay!!!
Check out "No Gods No Monsters" by Cadwell Turnbull its like if S.A. Cosby wrote an Octavia E Butler book. The Witch's Heart by Genevieve Gornichec was a great norse myth retelling from Loki's wife's perspective. And it made me cry. Just finished Ghost Station by S.A. Barnes, 4☆ I liked it about as much as Dead Silence.
I'm on the same train as you but with Blood Over Bright Haven; first book I read this year (per your recommendation) and it's still the best one
It’s so bitter sweet because what will top this??
I just finished The Will of the Many yesterday, and really enjoyed it. I also gave it 5 stars, despite some minor quibbles like the book never explained exactly why Vis's family was killed, and what lead up to it, and the ending was just a little screwy and confusing. But I guess we'll get more explanations in later books.
That's why I've been saying its a tentative 5 for me haha Lots of positives but a few bits that... I can look past if the second book is good!
my favorites so far this year are Kindred and all three books in the Green Bone Saga.
Oh you've been through it so far this year lol
we have such similar tastes. we love and hate the exact same books, it's insane. btw, I read "Blood over bright haven" in a SINGLE day. It's a record for me and I loved it.
In a day!! I’m glad you loved it too!!
I am reading Ready or Not by Cara Bastone. Cozy romance you might like.
I have had few 5 stars so far this year too, and I'm normally quite generous! A recent 5 star was The Bodyguard by Katherine Center, a very sweet romance.
Fine you win, I’ll add it to my library waiting list 🙄 I need some romance books for this summer 😂
@@BookswithEmilyFox hahaha 😂 I giggled and cried
I just read Just for the summer and now need to read part of your world 😊
Loved these both! Also recommend yours truly!
I need to get a copy of The Will of the many!!!
Is part of your world Little Mermaid themed? And also I have to say, black is your color. You look absolutely gorg 🔥🔥
Have you read The Justice of Kings by Richard Swan? It's amazing, I think you would really like it!
Best books so far: Augustus by John Williams The Vicar of Wakefield by Oliver Goldsmith Bicentennial Man by Isaac Asimov I, Claudius by Robert Graves Neighbor Rosicky by Willa Cather & I love Goblin Emperor and can't stand the companion novels!
The Mars House by Natasha Pulley. You will love it.
Emily, please let me know what lipstick you are wearing! 🤗 My favorite book that I have read this year is To the bright edge of the world by Eowyn Ivey, it is historical fiction so I don’t think you will enjoy it, but maybe give it a try?
It’s a makeup forever lip liner in Wherever Walnut with a clear gloss on top!
@@BookswithEmilyFox Thank you!
A reading AND an enjoyment slump maybe? You're still reading heaps! :) The best books that I've read this year have been re-reads, so... that's how my 2024 is going.
So many of us are struggling XD
I read Other Birds and enjoyed.
Part of Your World sounds like Hart of Dixie TV Show (maybe a little more mature than the TV show?). Can anyone confirm or deny this?!
Of these I want to read "The Will of the Many".
Part of Your World was THE book that made me delve into the romance genre! The main characters were mature so it isn't too cringey. I hope you like the 2nd book! The male lead is such a green flag and a "must protecc" person 💖
I was so happy that for once I liked the male character more than the female one! Looking forward to feeling like that again with book 2!
Hello! Just curious...how many hours a week/day you read.?
It really depends! I try to go to bed an hour early to read and I listen to audiobooks while doing chores/getting ready.
Happy Birthday! (late oops)
Thank you!! I usually upload on my birthday but didn’t have time this year 😂 I appreciate it!
Where's The Three Body Problem ?
My best books so far this year are Enter Ghost by Isabella Hammad, and Brotherless Night by V. V. Ganeshananthan. Both quite heavy and violent, but important. Don't read them back to back!
Best book I read this year Canadian boyfriend 😊

Oh what is your first language then? Cuz I've always thought that you're an native eng speaker
French!
@@BookswithEmilyFox merci beaucoup pour votre réponse :) (I had to write that just to feel the satisfaction of the fact that after 2 years of learning french I actually can say sth lmao)
The will of many has so many bad reviews to go with the good ones idk who to believe 😭
Me? Just kidding but some books are more hit and miss. personally loved it but it has its weaknesses
@@BookswithEmilyFox you've recommended so many 5 star reads for me without even knowing(thank you!), so based on that I will give it a chance lol
❤️❤️🇵🇸
