Turning old jewelry into pure gold bars

Follow-up video on NileBlue (my second channel): • Cleaning up my gold waste
A few months ago, one of my patrons sent me a bunch of old gold jewelry for me to refine. I originally thought that it was going to just be some gold plated stuff, but it turned out to be quite a bit of gold. I was able to purify out all of the gold and then melt them down into some small 24K pure gold bars.

    • You’re kind of obligated to be honest in a situation like that. By any means, even if it were greed. That gold was worth less than $4,000. His video brought in more money than that. And not only that, if he were to scam them out of their gold, he would potentially lose all credibility and his channels would be finished. (They both make hundreds of thousands combined annually) If he were a poor man, and no one was watching him, and he could get away with it with no risk, that’s how you know it was done out of honesty. I’m not ripping on Nile btw, we don’t know him personally, I’m just saying that there can always be more depth and reasoning to someone’s actions and demeanour.

I just can't see someone sending in a $17,000 watch to be scrapped for the gold content in it, which has to be minute at best. I'm sure I will feel stupid once someone explains it to me! Thanks and loved the video!

The magnification on cyclops looks all wrong which makes me think that it is either a counterfeit or that the crystal was replaced with an aftermarket sapphire / glass (perhaps it broke). Regardless, more of a $3.5-4K than a $17K watch.

      @lukaszerecinski5376@lukaszerecinski5376 Жыл бұрын
    • @@lukaszerecinski5376 my guess is that it was just replaced. I feel like if someone was trying to pass a counterfeit there’s no way they would use a crystal with such an ugly cyclops 😭 but idk. But also if it’s genuine shouldn’t the bezel be gold to match the dial since that should be the two tone model? Unless it’s some kind of weird Frankenstein watch lol

    • @@taranmcallister4330 based on what I can see I’m pretty sure it is fake. The amount of magnification on the date is far less than any Rolex I have ever seen also, as you said, if you look up that model, the gold and silver version would have a slightly different color combination as well as I cannot seem to find one that is shiny chrome. They are all some kind of a brushed silver color.

He would indeed have just had those on hand already. it's just like saying you're an auto mechanic, and so have things like complete socket and wrench sets already on hand, so no need to buy anything like specialized wrenches.
