The crane is very versatile and has many construction settings to make work easier. I decided to use an electric winch with a lifting capacity of 3000LBS/1360kg as a drive. Thanks to the wireless remote control attached to the winch, the crane can be conveniently controlled from various distances. To power the crane I used three 12v 18AH AGM batteries each, which I connected in parallel.

At first I thought this was just a basic engine hoist, and then I saw him reverse the legs and put the counter weights. Mind Blown. Good Job!
But could take an engine hoist and mod it to save time and few welds. But good work to the OP's fab skills...

Took all of 5 seconds to figure out this was way more than I'm planning on building, but I still watched. Nice work, very nice shop too.
If you do not have a second person to help you, this crane is very helpful. Great job.

Being Dutch myself, I absolutely love the Orange Signature Color you finish your equipment with 👍
I always enjoy watching these videos. Yesterday, 16 May, I purchased 24 feet of 1.5" x 3" and 24 feet of 2" x 6", it cost me $550 Canadian. These costs are insane and prohibitive. Sad state were in
Those magnetic squares are simply amazing. Must be huge time saver and making the work so much more accurate 💯🔥
Beautiful build. Love that glow in the dark orange! The adjustable outrigger feet are a great idea.
I read some of the comments giving some tips, so here is mine.. just under the pulley, put some guide for cable but with microswitch. So you dont have to worry of lifting too high.. Great project, as always!
People really be commenting on a channel called Workshop From Scratch to ask why he built it from scratch. Nice work, man!
Thanks 😁
Awesome job on moving the legs to the back with the counterweights. Sweet.
Thank you 😁
Great project!!! Small tip: in order in increase battery life I would suggest connecting positive to last battery and negative to the first one. It will still make 12VDC but load on all cells will be spread. Now the first and second battery need to provide more power over longer cables (more resistance) than the first one. PS. Love your channel
Excellent advice.
Dawid, some of these people on these channels don’t take advice too well . As an electrician, I know exactly what you mean .
It is nice to see a video with welding where the person can actually weld. Very good looking welds without having to grind them down to remove all of the evidence of sloppy welding.
This is what is called, "badass cool". Outstanding job!! Add a cover for the pulley to lower the risk of the cable from coming out of the pulley!
This is truly a superior build. I love your videos, and this is my new most favourite one. Such an awesome machine! And great design with the accumulators, so its completely remote - This is honestly great. Cheers!
Thank you 😁
This is an incredible example of solid engineering and top shelf fabrication skills. Amazing work. 👏
Nice work on the crane build and I like the engine valve " scratch awl " tool !
Piękny podnośnik elektryczny. Dobry pomysł z obciążnikami betonowymi. 👌
I somehow missed this one when it was released, which was a good thing eventually, because now I have something to watch and thumb up today! :D
the last option with the counterweights in the back is the best !!!
Thanks 😁
@@WorkshopFromScratch Hi.Please tel the name and model of welding machine and band saw for metal.Like from Romania.Very nice job👍👍
Yes, until that point it could have been just a modified engine crane, the rear counterweight makes a whole new set of uses possible
You gotta love those spiral taps!
Clever Bugger, knows where everything goes. Good Welder ,Great Job
Definitely a cool build. I think i would just buy a decent engine hoist and modify it to use the winch.
kzhead.info/sun/pqySYM-jiXmCdYU/bejne.html
I would convert my Harbor Freight 2 ton crane and add a 2 " tongue for the receiver on my truck to move my car lift.
It would save lots of money and time starting with a engine hoist and custom it out.
It's cool. I have two suggestions - adding an automotive battery isolation switch, as the volt meter and remote control box will kill the batteries by draining them down 24/7 and adding a loop for the hook, so you can use a pulley to reduce motor load.
The last bit just blew my mind, a lot of forethought went into this build. Excellent work.
i know im asking randomly but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb lost the login password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Case Joe Instablaster ;)
@Ramon Juelz thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@Ramon Juelz It worked and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy:D Thank you so much you really help me out :D
@Case Joe No problem =)
You weld like a pro! Loved the color scheme, too!
Thank you 😁
I loved the reverse counter balance design Most issues are the reach limited by the legs
These are the kind of people that make the world a better place.
Everything I saw in your shop pretty much had wheel on them, great job. Keep up the fine craftsmanship
You make all of this assembly look spontaneous.
Good idea And good building I preffer the addition of hydrolic rod for autmatic lifting with steering oil pump
kzhead.info/sun/pqySYM-jiXmCdYU/bejne.html
I loved your idea of counterweights and keeping the arms to the front very short. That makes it so much more useful. Great video.
Thank you 😁

Very thoughtful design. Had to make it yourself because there isn't a crane built like that on the market. The switch from standard engine hoist to counterbalance is great. I understand wanting the design your way for your application. Nice work.
The content of this channel is just PERFECT! Keep it up man!!!
Отличная идея с противовесом, молодец!!!
Awesome idea! Perhaps a cut-out switch where the hook meets the pulley to prevent a mishap? Absolutely love this build!
Thank you for keeping the background music low. I enjoyed your video and didn't have to mute it. Good work!
Nice build as always, will be starting a build on one later this week! Think, a metric ton. I like how you set up your crane wheels to keep the structure as low as possible to get under things. Thanks again
Thank you 😁

That is probably totally awesome thing to have in a workshop. Not all day, not every day ... but when you need it, you NEED it! And now you have it! :D
Awesome indeed. Very well fabricated, neat and sturdy.
Very nice, a true craftsman, also very nice welding.
Thank you 😁
Muito talento, parabéns 👏🏻👏🏻
What a Badass Channel this is? Please don't ever stop. I'm addicted to fab and design and everything machinery and controls
Wow! Great build! Thanks for sharing! 🤙🏻
Fantastic work, dude!!! It looks fantastic and works great! 😮 Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you 😁
Приятно смотреть на работу МАСТЕРА !!!!!!!!
the way you measure and cutting is a good lesson although i've been doing it for years
I like to see a man that knows how to work by himself! Might just build me a portable hoist! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Thank you 😁
Ficou show de bola 👏👏👏👍
Nice job, would be great to make a CAD drawing for it in your library
Excellent build and real heavy duty one, like the idea of using winch instead of hydraulic system, much more precise and easy to control the heavy loads, thanks for sharing.
Thank you 😁
Genius in fabrication and videography. Thanks for sharing your talents with us.
Amazing channel, great projects & super well done! Sad that hobby workshop tools are all flimsy thin metal now due to shipping constraints. Seems the only affordable way to get solid stuff is DIY.
"А скажите, и в магазине так же можно стенку приподнять!?!" (с) 😂 👍👍👍👏
Fantastic project 💯 Even greater second hand tool around the shop 👍 So well done !!!!
I like your work. Very clean and professional. I would like to see a video on that beautiful table that raises up and down.
Great job man, go ahead and get started on mine, lol.

Very very well done. Especially the consideration for counterweight inclusion. Good job.

That is some kind of awesome and my favorite colors to. Great ideas and great job 👍

Great build and video that is straight to the point. I would have made one safety edition which is a cable guide or bracket over the pulley. Basically some sort of U bracket just in case your cable jumps the pulley. It could save a limb. Also, is there a way to add two more pulleys to triple your lifting power?
Fantastic build. A highly skilled craftsman.
What an excellent build. Can I recommend a load balancer before the end of your hook? It would allow you to balance the load nice and square while moving it around. They are simple tools.
Достойное изделие, универсальное.
Китайцы наверное уже срисовали( напильниками шарашут на всю)
Wow it's perfect bro.. I would of over engeneered it too. Also would. Ade a hydraulic one too for my pickup truck to pick-up heavy drums and plowing equipment etc. Great job.
great build, but I would definitely upsize the capacity of that winch. Winches are not made for vertical lifting. And if they do not have an included mechanical brake, it's possible whatever you lift could come crashing down. e
Ohh come on Mann … on this size just for lifting small things very sure can’t put too much weight on !!!
@@Fried298 when there’s a will, there is a way. Someone smart enough to build something like this, might not. However, if you own a winch, you should already know they are not designed for vertical lifting. They are not a hoist. An electric hoist with a mechanical brake is a much better option.
@Terryfolds is right. As long as nothing happens, everyone ist happy. But bei aware, that cranes, hoists and other lifting equipment is strictly legulated by law. If something happens, especially in commercial use, it is obliged to use CE-certified machinery according to the rules of the European machinery directive. As long as you use this hoist for yourself, its your own risk. But be aware, that your health insurance is allowed to repel an insurance case, if ist was caused by an inproper designed lifting device. If you want to sell or give away it another day, be aware, that in that case your are - by law - the responsible person, which is bringing this machine into circulation and so has to guarantee, that the machine fulfills the codes of the machinery directive.
@@spike1670 no, as a winch should never be used for vertical lifting (unless specifically designed) ie a retail unit. Also, that’s not the average weight of an American.
@Spike16Good luck. The brakes of a winch are not designed for keeping up and lowering vertical loads. Hoists have a specified Safe Work Load (S.W.L.) for lifting loads, which must not have been exceeded, but the brakes are designed to keep up the load and also to lower the load without motor in case of an emergency.
This is beyond cool! Makes me want to learn metal working so bad!
Great work. Now I want to built such a crane too, even if I don't have the space or usage for one :-D Besides, I would add a U-shaped plate over the pulley to prevent the rope from slipping off when it is slack.
That’s awesome 👏 would be great to see a collab with Made in Poland one day
Мастеру браво и респект. Отличная работа. 👋👋👋🤝🤝🤝👍👍👍
Excellent build and great video/editing!!!
Thats what I call a " Professional Build " excellent job.
You are so sharp mind God bless you a long life 🤲
Thank you 😁
Отлично получилось! Однозначно ЛАЙК! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
🤝👍👍👍👍👍👍
You are a very talented craftsman and your shop is awesome. Thank you for this. GEB
O wiele bardziej przemyślana i wygodna w użyciu konstrukcja niż ta którą można kupić w sklepie. Na prawdę szacun, dzięki za takie filmy :)
Dziękuję 😁
LOL use my new crane on wheels to move my equipment that is also on wheels across the shop! I love it! Nevertheless nice tool me thinks, well done
I moved tools to show how it floats 😁 Thank you 😁
@@WorkshopFromScratch you just knew someone was going to say that 👍

Thiago Miranda inventos how can I get one of those crane made.
Very nice job! Just a safety remark. Try to keep the suspended load has low has possible.
this is by far one of the coolest builds i have seen, amazing now i wanna learn how to weld
Fabulously talented and well designed. Thanks for sharing.
I have a request for you: could be possible that you share the tools, materials, dimensions and other info about your projects? Thanks in advance!
Yes, I will share it, but I need some more time, because at the moment it is difficult for me to reconcile full-time work and KZhead.
What can I say top project , run out of Idears yet, Hamilton New Zealand

first off, this is well beyond my fabrication abilities, so kudo's do you for being able to make this. Only 2 change i would make is 1) add in the ability to charge the battery(s) without opening the box. 1) replace the bolt in the support arm to upper boom with a Clevis pin, to make it easier to raise and lower the boom arm.
Very nice crane with some features I haven't seen on others. Thanks for the ideas.
Thank you :)
@@WorkshopFromScratch You got yourself a sub too, great channel!
good design, can be improved on adapting hydraulic cylinder on lift angle side by side with the winch..
جناتةظىكة ةظو
perhaps add removeable lift points to objects that are likely to be moved often.
Surely it would speed up lifting a lot
Человек с золотыми руками! Получил огромное удовольствие! Кстати, при небольшой доработке можно сделать подъём стрелы за счёт натяжения троса в конечной точке подъёма груза и так-же опускание стрелы. Мысли в слух.
Loved the quick edits, I would add a hook at end of crane to snatch block the cable to make winch 1/2x speed. Great build.
Are you somehow related to the guy from "Made in Poland"? I'd say the way you work, video editing, body, tools are so incredibly alike.
The guys from the Made in Poland channel are my friends and also my inspiration :)
Guess there's no harbor freight tools anywheres nearby, damn good job though, makes my o.c.d act up. 😳😬🤪😃😂👍💪
My guess is from all the Russians commenting that he's not in the U.S.
Great idea! I’m going to modify my folding shop crane using some of your ideas.
Thank you 😁I have already built a workshop crane once, and therefore, when I undertook the construction for the second time, I decided to make a few structural improvements, and they really make my work easier, so I recommend the modification
Master! Thanks for making these videos
Жаль стрела не поворотная, а так класс!
а про лапы упоры при повороте стрелы мамкин инженер не подумал?
@@user-zr2tq4lp3q То він ляпнув, аби ляпнути шось, головою недума.
Go to harbor freight and get a motor lift , same principle thing.
Very good job building. Excellent idea!
Beautiful work! Have you thought about adding a good handle to make it easier to push and pull around the shop?
"Home made" - Joke? 😀
kzhead.info/sun/pqySYM-jiXmCdYU/bejne.html
Nope.. its made at home.. lol
I grew up with a very handy dad. He did some professional looking fabrication out of his garage. If you invest in the equipment and learn the skills you can build almost anything.
А как перематать в конец ?
Love it! So versatile, thanks for sharing Cheers
Thank you 😁 Regards :)
Brilliant engineering, well made, keep up the good work
