Embark on a captivating journey through time with my latest restoration video! In this visually immersive experience, I meticulously unveil the process of breathing new life into a bayonet dating back to the 1870s, a witness to the events of the Franco-Prussian War. Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of ASMR as every nuanced movement takes center stage, from the delicate removal of rust to the precise application of a nickel surface treatment.
Amidst each restoration step, I weave in compelling anecdotes that delve into the rich history of this weapon, providing a comprehensive, educational, and aesthetically satisfying narrative. Join me in this one-of-a-kind restoration adventure, where not only the weapon but the very essence of the past is revitalized before your very eyes. Don't miss out on the opportunity to witness history coming alive in this uniquely crafted experience.
I practice the restoration of objects in poor condition. This is a passion, so it is not my profession. Just enjoy the video.
GOOD VIEWING !! :)

  • Not bad, bro. There are a few things I would've done different but its still decent work. Hopefully those pins hold, as soft as they are...I understand why you didnt give it a full sharpening too.

  • I acquired two of those with butchered hilts. Since the collector value had been destroyed, I re-hilted them as short swords, properly sharpened. They look wicked.

  • Great job. I have a Gras bayonet and looking to learn how to restore it. For future videos maybe you can tell us what products ( like for polish ) you use. ( 6:36 / 11:49 / 12:07 )

    • Thank you for your comment! I use regular polishing compound. The second step is ‘L’impeca,’ a much finer polishing compound.

  • J'adore !

  • Nice job but I think I would have put a drop of oil on inside the handle and over the parts as they will rust up very quickly

  • There are many Chassepot collectors, as there are lots of different types. I have an example made for an American Remington rifle, with a German made blade, that was issued by the Egyptian army, with the St.Etienne Armoury engraved on the blade spine. Madness.

    • You are a beautiful bayonet! unfortunately on mine, the back is full of holes..

      @JSNRestoration@JSNRestoration4 ай бұрын
    • Hi, I also have an Egyptian Remington rolling block Bayonet similar to this one, made in Germany, with no spine markings. It surprised me that these bayonets were mounted to the side of the Remington, - they are so heavy that mounted like that they couldn't have helped the accuracy of the gun.
