Do a video on the Better Minecraft modpack & how fan developers have managed to do things Mojang can't or won't. The Better Minecraft mod does so many things that most of us believe should be in 15yr old Minecraft such as body on death that holds items until collected, inventory management solved(backpacks & such), many block variations & innovations, many different generating structures making the world feel alive, different dimensions to name only a few. I feel as tho Mojang are not very good developers or talented at all, they are just corporate lackies. It is a shame really after looking at all that Better Minecraft has to offer. Would make such a good video. "Why Better Minecraft is Better...or is it?"

This isn’t true, the LittleBigPlanet textures are up to date as of 1.20 although no new textures have been made for 1.20.8 as of yet.
I wish that 4J's tutorial worlds were in Bedrock.

Shame that the current mash-up packs do not include texture packs anymore. I would love a texture pack for the Avatar mashup as some of the textures in that are really nice and would like to jump into creative with them.
It's so cool 4J still updates these. Shows they really do love the game and still care about it
Feel bad for all the ones which got discontinued. I wounder for any of these if there could be updates by the community instead like some texture packs on java got spiritual successors.

One great thing about the console packs was that you could skin your game without buying it and preview it, but you couldn't save the game. This way you could take a look at it and decide if you wanted it. In general, I think 4J's work got better over time; the earlier packs tend to have 16x16 textures and there's not a lot of good depth or detail to them, while the later ones go 32x32 and have much better detail. The ones I dislike usually have a lot of unusual textures which makes it hard to know what you're looking at, Mass Effect, the holiday packs and the cutesy ones are the biggest offenders here. The GUI also matters too, some packs have GUI colors and/or designs that make it hard to tell what you're looking at. But it's good to see some of these packs getting upgrades since it maintains value for them. The mythology mashups were definitely some of the best, with Greek and Norse the best of the four. Norse in particular is really good, and lends itself well to a fantasy look. Skyrim has a similar aesthetic (fantasy Vikings, so it figures), but it's an older pack with low resolution and muted colors, and Norse Mythology just has better resolution, depth and color. Egyptian is pretty good too, though it doesn't look good for cold biomes, the color palette used for them is too warm. Chinese is the weakest of the four unfortunately which is a shame because it has a nice custom world, but the textures are older and don't have the detail of 4J's later work. Pirates of the Caribbean was better than I expected it to be, because licenced properties are often crappy in video games, but it's not bad at all. It seems like the sort of texture pack where you have to build with it specifically instead of slapping it on an existing world. City and Natural are the two best texture packs with Fantasy coming in a bit behind. Fantasy's biggest flaw is that there's a lot of gilding detail on some of the blocks and that gets a bit gaudy.
it's really a shame that some of these packs were seemingly discontinued. Especially the cartoon one. The 4J packs are some of the best texture packs i'd say. also, it's been so long since a toycat "all update features in all texture packs" video.

I literally just bought the Fallout- err... "Vault-Tec" Mash-Up pack today and I didn't even consider whether or not they had updated it for new versions. Upon checking it on the Wasteland world, I was relieved once I saw how the Armadillos had been updated!

I still often use the fantasy textures on my realm. I love the feel and it reminds me of my favorite battle minigame maps. This is a great video!

I've always loved the mythology packs. I used to play with Norse Mythology on one of my worlds in 1.18, where I sailed around everywhere like a viking. Really hope they decide to still go back to do Egyptian and Chinese, as I've always adored how they incorporated the mythology into the game in those.
Having the Warden as a Deathclaw and the pots at Nukacola bottles are some of the best ideas I've seen so far
This really goes to show how 4J had a passion for this and loved doing it, even still updating their old work when they aren't required to
this just shows how much 4J still cares about the community and their content, I'm so excited for that new game if they put this much work into side stuff they aren't even officially contracted for anymore
The Sniffer in the Adventure time pack is modeled after the Party God, and I think that’s amazing

Tip: Add "Natural" before the ones without Trails and Tales and it will look less weird.
My friend and I shared a world for years using the fantasy pack and when we moved to java we transferred the world over but couldn't find the texture pack up to date anywhere, so I spent hours porting it by changing names and moving stuff in folders. It was a pain but I paid for it so I was gonna use it goddamn it. Hopefully there's working pack converters out there by now for both versions but considering the money to be made in Bedrock I doubt it.
WHenever you showed the list of texture packs they made, I went through the order they came out in my head to make sure I still remembered it. And I do. Except for the Halo mashup pack as that one never existed on PS3 or PS4

I believe what’s going on with the Recovery Compass is (based off some of my experience with making resource packs) they were trying to make the flipbook textures have a 2-texture wide base, but never put it into the the animation formatting JSON so it just was read as a 32x flipbook texture rather than a 16x one. Still doesn’t explain why one texture is centered on the item frame though. TL;DR Recovery compass is weird because people formatted the JSON file wrong.
Sad to see they may not continue the Festive pack. I’ve been a Java player for years but have fond memories of playing with the trial pack on the Christmas world with my little sister. I loved the Santa’s workshop and the soundtrack was incredible. I wish modern renditions of the game would have kept some of that charm of having free worlds that show off the packs
I have been checking the fallout texture pack ever update and I was so suprised the warden was a deathclaw. Glad to see 4j still cares about Minecraft, even if they don’t really work on it anymore
4J also made a synth wave looking texture pack called Super Circuit that i don't think a lot of people know about, quite sad at it has some interesting stuff i have never seen on other texture packs at the marketplace
I remember trying to reach that part in the skybox that kinda has the color palate of earth and is triangle shaped in the master chief pack on Xbox 360 as a kid
I still use the Halo and Plastic Texture Packs. I have since the Xbox 360 I’m still so happy that they are getting updated
I love them turning the warden into the Troll for the skyrim texture pack, truly one of the most terrifying creatures in skyrim, that thing has the ability to one-shot you fully armored if youre not careful

I think my favorite 4J texture pack still being updated is the Mario one, a shame its locked tp the Switch version of Bedrock which runs... bad...
the skyrim pack Warden is styled after the Troll/Frost Troll. that being said, you're telling me that the Warden crawls out of the ground and screams at you just so he can bum a cigarette?
ibxtoycat, of course the camel at 3:54 is a more serious mob in that pack, just look at his nose face. That nose face means business.
This makes me want a way to change one or two textures, but keep the rest normal. Like I want a candy Warden, but everything else is normal.
And this one of the top reasons why updates take tons of time so Mojang isn't Completely Lazy
AI might be a decent solution to texture pack longevity, train it on the aesthetic of the 100s of blocks already in the pack and use it to make new textures for new blocks.
You should try out the Legacy4J mod and Re-Console modpack for java edition
it's very unfinished though, even ui scaling is extremely broken (not a single resolution scales everything properly) and it's still missing a lot of legacy edition features, it has potential, but it needs more time so it might be actually good mod
I play with the City Texture Pack permanently. I really like the way it looks (armor trims, bricks, grass) and I wouldn't be able to go back now. 32x looks better than 16x 4J studios does an excellent job on these packs.
Greek Mythology was the first mashup pack I was allowed to buy when I was a child! I'm so glad it got updated
I also remember playing Chinese Mythology this one time and I got sad because I couldn't save it because we hadn't bought the pack. I had spaghetti for dinner that night. It was nice.
