These are outdoor dogs, not house pets. Had they put her in the house with her puppies she'd tear the place apart. The owners may not have had the opportunity to take her and her puppies in the chaos of leaving. But they let someone know and asked for help. I know the area and that overland flooding can happen fast there. This is rez. The citizens were forced off their good non-flooding land to colonization and were put on that flood prone patch of land. There is context and still alot of truth, reconciliation, reparations and education that needs to be done.

To be fair there was a disabled walking aid by the car, The people may have been taken out, rather than left under their own efforts and the fact these guys knew to go to that remote house at all means someone had to have said that dogs had been left behind

Outdoor dog probably was roaming around somewhere when they were evacuated. I'm guessing they sent these boys back since they had keys.

Yes leaving the dog out there is one thing but then it's a whole flood and Snow 🌨️❄️ out! That blew my mind. I couldn't leave my dog out on a cool spring day without worrying or a rainy day I could never. That was sad to see. No food no water just out there freezing 🥶 but I'm so happy to see they got these babies ❤
Maybe they ran to the store for a quick minute for supplies while they could and then weren't allowed to go back, so they gave the keys to the rescuers. I don't imagine they did it on purpose, probably felt HORRIBLE. I'm glad there was someone there to help! A raft would have been a Godsend!

Some people don’t deserve to own such a loving dog. I can’t believe they left her and her babies behind. And especially leaving mama separated from the babies and left outside to freeze. I saw a man on the news who could not evacuate during Katrina because they did not allow dogs on the buses carrying evacuees. He stayed behind with his tiny chihuahua named Killer. His house blew up from the pressure of the floodwaters and he rode a giant wave of water until he and his pup were thrown onto a balcony. They were rescued later. Such a kind and loyal pet owner.
EVERY PET OWNER should be like him. Pets are NOT OBJECTS like those pitiful psychopaths obviously saw that dog and her puppies as.
Well, the handicapped owner at least sent these boys back to get them. So quick to judge.

They changed the laws after Katrina because of this. Now if they're rescued or evacuated they are able to bring their pets. Too many people refused to leave if they couldn't take their animals. It was a stupid rule.

I think I saw damage to the door that looked like Mama had been trying to get in to her pups. She could have abandoned them and sought shelter, but she didn't. And her devotion was rewarded with your kindness.

I don't know of the details but I suspect that this was flooding in Manitoba from May of 2022. Given that there was a car abandoned there as well, I suspect they were rescued themselves. I do wonder if the people who lived in the house were even given the option or worse, explicitly told they could not take pets. Given that these two knew the dog and puppies were left behind, and appeared to have the keys to the house I will take some hope that the people living in the home actively worked to get their pets rescued.
Clearly you know nothing about evacuations. Like, when you're being evacuated by your government, they won't let you take your pets 99 out of 100 times. They tell you they will come back for them.

I hope the dog and pups were NOT given back to the cruel, selfish humans who abandoned them. That makes me so angry! I wouldn't go anywhere without my pets, I love them so much. They are family. Kudos to these kind heroes risking their lives to save them!
There is not an award good enough for you two heroes. It must have been incredibly hard to continue on this rescue when you realised the pain freezing water could inflict. Thank you for your extreme bravery, your mums must be so proud of you both, I know the world is.
I'm going to set aside the thoughts I have for those who abandoned them and focus on the good of the humans that saved them. This is what real heroes are made of.
Maybe watch the video again and see that these men have been given the keys to this remote home so they can fetch the pets of an obviously disabled (ramp access and walking aid) person who has already been evacuated by emergency services who didnt have the option to carry little puppies and their mother away through the floodwater themselves

The losers who owned these dogs were probably planning on selling the pups and this is probably not the first time they have bred the mama dog. People like that don't care anything about the animals. They just exploit them for profit.
Me either! I live in Florida and of course, we are prone to hurricanes every year. I have had to evacuate three times since moving here and you had better believe I took my fur kids with me each time! My relatives lived too far away for me to drive there with my pets, so I have always had to stay in pet friendly hotels just a state or two away. It was not at all hard to find an inexpensive pet friendly hotel such as Extended Stay America and Quality Inn. It's such a great feeling when you get there and see so many other pet parents there who share that love and regard for their furry family members. Each time I got to meet and have good conversations with some really awesome people and pets.😊
It all boils down to local emergency evacuation plans. Florida has some of the best emergency evac plans in the USA. They are well written and practiced to include pet evacuation. Unfortunately, not everyone follows Florida's model. Regardless, plan or not plan, hell or high water, I'm bringing my pets!

It could have been that they were forced to leave their pets behind when they (humans) were rescued. One of that family must have called no one would have known the dogs needed help.

Beautiful mom and puppies. I couldn't ever let my pets behind no matter what. To separate mom and her puppies was even more cruel! Thank God and these brave men for saving all of them while risking hypothermia.

You can tell she’s never been allowed in. She didn’t want to go inside. They prob beat her when she tried. So she wouldn’t go, even tho she wanted to. She only did b/c of these wonderful guys being so kind to her.
By the wheelchair ramp, they were probably handicapped and/or old and told to evacuate. They didn't have the choice. Ok, I watched again and they had KEYS to the home. So it's either fake or the homeowners requested someone help their animals.

Brady and his friend are true heroes! Not only did they save this little doggy family Brady uses his time off and vacations to rescue animals all over the world. He has a beautiful girlfriend who helps him. So glad there are true heroes in the world helping God's creatures. No pet should ever be left behind in an emergency. There are always ways to get help! Thank you for rescuing these lovely dogs. I don’t understand how anyone could do this. I had to evacuate my house after a train derailment and hazardous chemical leak and I packed up all my animals in carriers and took them with me.

I know someone in rescue who saved a bunny. He was found dumped in a trash bin. The trash collectors were shocked to find the scared bun and they called her for help.
It's not reckless or irresponsible to not bring your pets with you during an evacuation from a natural disaster. At least not when it's sudden. Those people were in a deadly situation, and the rescuers couldn't jeopardise the humans to try to save the animals. I wouldn't judge them without fully knowing the situation, which is impossible without being there. But yeah, these two guys are legends.

You only have to leave the area in an evacuation. If you are choosing to use services that don't allow pets, that's on you. However, those of us who actually care about our pets would make arrangements to ensure they were brought with us. I have friends in the US who evacuated due to Hurricane Katrina and they made sure that their dogs were with them. Here in the UK, when we evacuate, even our emergency services will rescue the *whole* family - animals included - because we understand that every life is precious and that animals are not "lesser". So it can be done, meaning that it is absolutely a choice to leave them behind...
