  • Sugar Ray Leonard wanted to be like Muhammed Ali, Muhammad Ali wanted to be like Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Robinson wanted to be like Joe Louis, Joe Louis wanted to be like Jack Johnson and so on... we all have inspirations, don't let that stop you from trying to imitate anyone you admire or look up to! Because the greatest had someone to look up to as well.

I wasn’t around early enough to see this generation, and stayed watching things like Bowe-Holyfield as my first experience with my father, but I’ll always remember my father associating Duran with the ‘no mas’ episode, which he told me about when I was too young to even understand it. He died when I was still in high school but I’ve is also gone about 21 years now, as well. It’s become normal for me and has been as long as I can remember now, but it’s amazing when you stop and think, “what if he was still around? Duran s body wasnt functioning, shut down, then the humiliation made Duran quit. (Some say he didnt say 'no mas', the commentator made that up) leonard didnt want third matchup against Duran. LaLonde was a LightHeavyWeight, but Leonard forced the promoters to have the fight at the lighter division, thus leaving LaLonde extra weight drained, which negatively affects strength and stamina. Leonard knew what he was doing. Very Strategically opportunistic. Just like demanding the Duran rematch be several months sooner than it really should've been.
