My job made us go hybrid with working both from home and at the office and I miss being fully remote. It was why I took the job. Every time I'm stuck in traffic, or have to take a detour because of an accident, or almost have an accident because of an impatient driver, I always think, "I wouldn't be dealing with this bull if we were just working remote again." We only go in two days a week, but still. I now half the time try to find an excuse to not go in and to just work from home. This week, I'm dogsitting for my mom 😂. I legitimately am, but this dog can hold himself for up to 15 hours, I *could* have gone into the office today...but my workplace doesn't need to know that. I get the sense my co-workers are doing the same, or they claim they need to arrive late, lol. Nobody likes going in to the damn office.

I stockpiled on TP over 4 years ago. When there were no shortages, pandemic or panic of any kind. It doesn't go bad with age, you don't quit using it, and it takes up unreasonable volume in your regular shopping, so buying a stockpile once several years is my tactic. I still have ~20 rolls and haven't bought one throughout the entire pandemic.

So a regular-sized pack of TP takes up "unreasonable volume" in your regular shopping (which is a short-lived activity and can even be delivered) but a stockpile of TP doesn't take up unreasonable volume in your house for several years?
@@artyb27 My regular shopping is a shopping bag, typically filled to the brim. A 16-roll pack would take up more than half of it. The stockpile takes up an otherwise unused, not so easy to reach shelf running the length of my bathroom, stacked 2 packs high. Buying the stockpile involved a bulk package of something like 20 16-packs, roughly the size of a couch backrest. Very unwieldy but quite light, so it was one trip, maybe 20 minutes of dealing with that BS total.

One good side effect of all the nonsense was London was comparatively a ghost town a year ago. Most shops were open, there were no tourists, and there was almost no traffic. Really civilised. Actually a pleasure to visit. Went there last month and it was like the entire human population had decided to come at once. A freakin’ nightmare.
Our family typically kept our garage stocked with toilet paper BEFORE the panic set in. It was only a minor inconvenience. It’s irritating that people would rather panic about literally anything than attempt to be rational.

I live in the US. Thankfully the toilet paper thing wasn’t AS bad in my area, but it was impossible to find paper towels and cleaning supplies. The local wholesale custodial supply company quietly announced they would allow people to come buy reasonable amounts of things they needed. That’s where we went. They could have charged an arm and a leg, or at least as much as it would normally cost at the store, but they only charged the wholesale price. That made me really respect them.

Never got the toilet paper thing. We dont have bidets in the US, usually, but the general consensus on taking a shit and finding out you dont have toilet paper around is to just hop in the shower. Idk how in a nation where we have people masturbating with showerheads we didnt think theyd properly clean a butthole THAT WILL ALSO CLEAN THE REST OF THEIR BODIES.
You still use toilet paper in places with bidets.

I remember at the start of the pandemic, my Wal-Mart was completely looted of all toilet paper, medical supplies, canned foods, and more. I was starting my junior year in high school when news began to circulate about Covid coming in from China and at first I thought that if it reached the US, it would easily be contained by the CDC, but before I knew it, my school was closed, my town and state went into lockdown, and I had to finish the rest of my junior year online on Zoom, which by itself was a strange experience. I never thought I would live through an full blown pandemic, especially in the 21st century. I underestimated the power of nature, the food and supply chain, and human stupidity. I hope that we as a society learn from all this so future generations won't have to go through the crazy BS that we had to deal with. Also I had no idea that the Great Toilet Paper Shortage of 2020 started in Australia, I thought it began in the US lol
Considering the current economical and political courses of the leading nations, COVID was just a startup. A warm up in a much grander scheme.
