That would be like playing dark souls for the first time and having someone who is max soul level just carry you through the game. Where's the fun in not overcoming your own weaknesses and getting better yourself?

The game's built around how well you can mirror the opponent and whoever slips up enough times dies. There are some exceptions with different weapons etc but all "high level" duels in this game with longswords or messers just end up being that.
I mean I have never fought with real swords, but I assume that's more or less real sword combat.
@@legomanc4555 Absolutely NOT. If you've even seen any real fencing, you would know that both sides tend to have healthy respect for defense. So much so, many would rather play mind games with the opponent, than be the one who strikes first. Because once you've given your guard up for attack, the fight will almost always be over very quickly. Mordhau, while an arcade interpretation of melee fighting, is somewhat more accurate. The various swing manipulations with riposte creates situations where you don't really want to riposte predictable attacks on every single parry, because it gives opponents initiative to feed you mix-ups.

Nah only noons mirror each other in a fight for an hour doing the same attacks back and forth. You have to break their flow of combat by mixing drags, kicks, jabs, and movement.
@@Darkstar198 Though I think for the sake of the game, defence is less of a priority as many people prefer fast combat to hitting once every 5 seconds. Interesting perspective though.
That second fight felt like a fight out of a movie, both opponents forced to switch it up and the battle goes on so long there weapons are knocked out of their hands.
Not only that, but they both ended up fighting with their opponent's weapon. That was really nice to watch.
Best duel I've seen so far.
First one was disarmed, then picked up a weapon off the wall, eventually weapons were swapped when the player tried to throw his weapon and picked up his enemy's before disarming him and subsequently decapitating him.

Dude that first duel was incredible, swapping weapons at the end, all kinds of cool stuff. It *looks* high level, and FUN, AND dynamic. Way more than any mordhau gameplay, anyhow.
to follow that up, i genuinely rooted for you in these matches. i think chiv ii is a thousand times more watchable than it's counterparts as a "sport" in the competitive sense.

Idk tbh, I’ve always found chiv (both 1 and 2) to be incredibly clunky when compared to mordhau, everything in chiv feels so robotic, like there is no fluid motion in it

When I first started playing Chiv 2, it felt like absolute shit coming from Mordhau. It felt like things were hitting my block before the windup was even finished, making countering ridiculously hard. I think after getting used to the animations, however, Chiv 2 generally has a much healthier combat flow for both 1vX and duels. I also believe the system allows for proper strategic gambling with jabs that Mordhau only has a gimped version of through kicks. Overall, I think Chiv 2 better captured the aspects of what makes the FPMS genre enjoyable.

A good tip is to always assume a dane axe user has initiative. Because they do lmao. also use kick more if they start to predictably block every attack. A lot of good players wont go to block immediately after an attack in anticipation of a kick some times though.

Remember you can parry projectiles in this game. I like heavying a parry off a knife throw to steal initiative and punish their health or stamina :D

@@troxity5589 lol same i get on chiv every couple a months for a few hours max and never play it again. The animations and "realism" of chiv 2 just bothers me. I play mord every day and never get bored of it lmao, just hit lvl 100 today.
The only pros to chiv really are the maps, gimmicks(ie. grabbing everything/being able to throw everything), and the voicelines. I like the voices of mord better but chiv just has more voice lines.
Ye chiv map design was fucking amazing but bad anims meanwhile its the opposite in mordhau.

Major props to playing in 1st person much harder and skilled than 3rd person
My tactic in this was perfect, especially against cautious players who block. Mirror them for 2 blocks then throw a kick and finish with the face thrust! I'm a major Knight main and the greatswords are excellent 👌

I live in Brasil, and here, outside the city on rural areas we have a sort of sword that is called "facão" or "pexera", normally it have the length of the lower leg and having no police in those lands the people solve problems by their own, so it's not very rare to see swords fights until death on those remote places, normally they take one sword on each hand and start to fight but takes long before someone gets hit because they defend with precision.

My brother and I, when we have time, we get two long clubs and fight until someone hits the other. It is really close to the fights from this game, but without armor and 10 times faster. It's a great game.

Whats the learning curve like on this game if you're already decent at mordhau? There seems to be a couple big differences that will take muscle memory time to get used to, but other than that is it pretty seamless?
if you match your controls to closely resemble your mordhau inputs it will help but takes a decent amount of time to get used to the differences (I'm at 40 hours rn and got the hang of it at this stage)

My favorite things is spamming overheads with the Dane axe and turning to hit thier ankles lole
No matter how strategic the game may look it all comes down to who can't hit the other person the fastest And longest. And gotta say, it's pretty fun.

It's fun even for noobs imo. Getting close to 30 hours and still enjoying it a lot.
