So glad i found your channel. I'm a new diesel mechanic and I get thrown crazy jobs like this with no knowledge on what to do. Your videos save my ass quite a bit.
Always have a new crispy SnapOn 12 point socket on hand , not a Garbage Freight socket . In the event the 12 point bolt head strips , with a 3 pound hit the bolt head hard deforming the bolt head . Then pound the socket on the bolt head. I use Number 2 Permatex non hardening sealant on the outer metal surface of the seal . Pack the inside of the seal with grease , holds seal spring in place . I personally don’t recommend using sandpaper for the seal mating surfaces. When you remove material with sandpaper your relieving the mating surfaces friction fit design. It’s supposed to be a pressed fit to do its job, which is to stop leaks/prevent leaks

when have locktie, use fire to heat the threads enclosing part will help release that 12 point bolts. very often people damage either socket or bolt head.

From someone who does this for a living those yokes don’t come out that easy all the time even with a yoke puller.....lol
I once used a 1 inch impact with a yoke puller AND heat and got the ok to just torch it off, which I hate doing. Some people just don't put nevr seize.

I have oil leak from the same place on my Cascadia, but i realized the bearing has a free play. Can i adjust the free play somewhere behind the seal, is it adjustable???

im doing this right now because some guy drove a hundred miles with a loaded trailer on and the air bags down chewed up the seal got the bearings hot, no flakes or chunks in the fluid though i guess thats the silver lining here i dont know.

Hey if you drove with the brake’s applied a little due to an air leak could that cause a seal to leak on the differential?

So the socket needed for the yolk bolts are 1/2 12 point ?
Yes. Most trucks use that style . There could be different ones out there though
I have never seen someone reuse the old dust cover and seal mate in my life...
I'm dealing with the same issue.

You can do what he did in another video and put a air hookup on the truck for a big impact gun. Let the truck idle for air and you can do anything. Inflate tires, remove big bolts, grind surfaces, etc. etc.
is there supposted to be freeplay in the drive shaft?? mines has about a 1/4 turn when the trucl is off
Yes little freeplay is normal

My truck has problem when I turn differential switch on I hear air does something but only one rear wheel spinning on passenger side. What can be the problem? What's need be checked or replaced?
Its probably just the airline fror the differential switch, put the differential switch on, go outside next to the differential and see if you can hear the air leak

Hey a question. Do you think i can take the pinion nut off with a breaker bar. I font have an impact. Great video i need to do this right now aswell. The dealer wants 1800 to change pinion seal and 2 wheel seals. Im gonna buy all the tools i need and do it myself. I love it. Keep the videos coming.

@@TRUCKINGTIPSDIY we bent a 40in breaker bar. So i got a 3/4 milwaukee impact. Those things are a beast👍
@@Tommytv2 so did u get it loose with a 1" braker bar? And then used a 3/4 impact?
@@orlanmedina3693 no the breaker bar bent and was useless. I bought the 3/4 milwaukee impact and about 1 min of holding it down the nut cracked loose. Definately worth the money. 800$ canadian including 2 batteries

Hello, you can check the hight of the airbags make sure there not to low, also check the U joint, if its worned out it needs to be replaced, also check yoke if it has a lot of Playland that is not worked out where the seal seats,sorry I don't have a a shop, thank you for watching!
