  • The moment we ask, “Why am I here,” proves we are not just animals. When we understand the universe is just rocks and that life is far too complex to be random chance, we see the divine. The moment we open our eyes and admit we are limited and flawed in living with others we realize the reason we are here. Those who insist on focusing strictly on material things disregard the spiritual. They do not recognize that we are limited creatures living temporary lives whose five senses cannot discern everything in the universe. They believe, in their ignorance, that science has all the answers when science is still in its adolescence.

    @dustyk103@dustyk103 Жыл бұрын
    • I kind of agree with this but you just said that life is far too complex to be random. That makes no sense because the complexity of life and the size of the Universe, the possibility of life and the evolution of life is infinite, so there is an infinite possibility that we exist, but that is still random, 1 small change in evolution and we wouldn't have existed at all.

      @L0rdShad0wz@L0rdShad0wz Жыл бұрын
    • @@L0rdShad0wz So, this belief once again makes us so rare in the universe by virtue of being the most infinitesimal possibility. It’s saying that we are the only intelligent beings and the only life making us the center of the universe. Essentially that, if there no God who is the intelligent designer, then “we are the gods.” It also infers that when we die we just cease to exist because we are nothing more than a random clump of cells and electro-chemical impulses. Therefore, there is no morality by which we should live except for whatever we feel like doing.

      @dustyk103@dustyk103 Жыл бұрын
    • @@dustyk103 Just because we are born, we live for a short period of time and then we cease to exist doesn't mean that there no longer is a morality for which we need to live our lives. We decide ourselves how we live our life, regardless of whether you believe we were here because we were specifically created to be here or because we simply evolved into an intelligent species from single cell organisms.

    • You are supposed to turn your life over to god. I’ve been debating religion for almost 20 years now. You can believe in a high power all you want, but to believe in the christian bible god is for the illogical. You were hurting and needed communion and you found it in a religious community. But you can do better bro. Don’t be a slave.

    • @@johnlittle5267 I know it through and through. Was raised from 6yrs to 17 going to church and decided I’d figure life out on my own. It got very dark over the next 13 years. As an adult man I wanted to research religions, God, Big Bang and anything that would deepen my understanding. I came back to the KJV because the evidence is, Jesus lived, was 100% historically real and His words were accurate. So many instances while studying I had these “wow” moments, I couldn’t deny the evidence of God all around me anymore. We all have a choice and free will to answer those questions over our lifetime. The urgency with Christianity is that our souls are eternal. Thanks for commenting I really do enjoy hearing others beliefs

    • It is an indisputable scientific fact that believers in one or many gods live lives that are not only happier, but longer and more productive (with the exception of a few particularly toxic faiths). Believers commit less crimes and believers function better in society. All other things being equal, everyone should want their neighbor to be religious, their employees and boss to be religious, and if religion were a pill which provided those benefits, everyone would take it. They should want themselves to be religious. It is fair to ask, then, why the universe is structured this way. If religion is a lie, why would everyone who believes in lie be better at LIVING. This is actually the opposite of what we would normally expect. The scientific method and growth of scientific knowledge has taught us that believing in and adhering to real things is pretty much always a better way to function in the world. It doesn't make sense. Unless there IS some kind of divine.

It's a weird time now when discussion around beliefs not religious related have to take on a devout level without question even though, you have to believe it on the same level of religion. You can't find examples of those beliefs in nature. You have to just accept them. You are either phobic or a believer. You are either somehow oppressive, or a believer.

After she has lived in your house and mourned her father and mother for a full month, then you may go to her and be her husband and she shall be your wife. Additionally, all these verses you pulled up from the Old Testament, you have to take all of them I context as to what was going on at the time. The isrealites are obviously in conflict in these verses. They are trying to gain victory over their original captors and God is on their side as the attackers were heathens. Anyway, those verses dont apply anymore because it is parts of the Old Testament that weren't enforced I the New Testament, making them kind of outdated in a way. Heaven is essentially being in the presence of God and God is so loving, he will never force you to be with him against your will. If you really wanted to go to heaven, you would seek him out.

  • Great video! Im a big fan of Peterson. A couple of months ago I routinely started going to church with a few family members of mine for the first time as an adult. Prior to this I hadn’t regularly attended church since I was around 13. One aspect that immediately became clear was just how emotional many people around me we’re getting. I could tell that at least a handful of people were momentarily alleviating some very painful burdens. I quickly recognized a gigantic blind spot in my view of religion: Just how significant of a coping mechanism it is for many people who are being relentlessly tortured by life, not just the metaphysical assurances but also the strengthened sense of community/security. Hopefully there will continue to be more secular substitutes in place of religion. All of the good facets of religion without all of the dogma. In the meantime I’ll just have to settle with going to a Christian church with family

    • There's no doubt that religion is a coping mechanism for many people. But that applies to all religions. Which religion is a person's coping mechanism depends very much on the country, culture and family that person was born into. It doesn't mean that the tenets of that religion or any other are real.

He gives very practical, physical help, as well as spiritual and ethereal. He is limited only by our willingness to open ourselves to the possibilities. The book of James, chapter 4 speaks directly to this. We have to have humility, seek with a pure heart, and nothing will be withheld. Solid truth in my life, time and time again. • I am a man, a father, I have a spirit. My spirit represents my consciousness (my inner voice) subconsciously. I go to sleep, I wake up and find myself conscious in a dream. A world my spirit has constructed and placed my consciousness into a vessel inside the dream. That vessel I call my son and during that dream me and my son share a consciousness and through the spirit, father and son are one. From this persective the spirit functions as a constructor for the creator, the father, whom will experience the creation as the son. This represents the relationship of The Father, The Son, The Spirit. If my spirit can create an entire world and place my consciousness into a body inside that world, I trust Gods spirit can create this universe and place his consciousness into the body of Jesus Christ.

Once you see the sources of the Quran for yourself you will never become a Muslim, or if you are one already, the uncovering of these sources will cause you to leave Islam.
