The aim is to move away from such categorisations and It's really horrible to see people who want others to call them by a colour.

well we still have very separate neighborhoods between white and black, had we done a better job in the last 60 years of integrating and not neglecting poorer neighborhoods in all these city developments, then we wouldn't need to talk about categorizations. There's still a separation, and we've barely done a good job dealing with racism's past in this country. It was just 5 years ago many people questioned the diversity of the USWNT roster, considering they were in a equal pay fight. Now there are more black players. I'm still waiting for the Asian Americans though, maybe they don't like soccer, even though there are some awesome Asian women's teams.

@@kasoniakisangani there might be actual issues which everyone can together try to solve. but the last part of your comment shows how horrible that line of thought is. you get to the team by your ability not with your membership in any arbitrary group. and its absolutely funny that the people who show to other people that they fight against this are the ones who look at individuals and see nothing but their arbitrary group identity. i know US is plagued with this virus. and it feels like this line of thought is never going to end.

it paints a really bad picture of US for people outside the country. that its a place filled with identity politics ideologues. But i would like to hope normal people dont care about such things and are just normal human beings. @@kasoniakisangani

@@user-so2nm4gz6u well, my last sentence was more of an observation than some critique. But you have to acknowledge that categorizations will be with us until the end of time. They're not meant to separate us. Just like when we talk about different generations, there are different ethnicities. And a lot of problems today exist because of mistakes made in the past. It's foolish to ignore those mistakes, but we can solve those mistakes without being defensive or hateful.

But it's impossible not to, considering history and how cultures have been created. There is distinction and it's meant to be celebrated because there are still those in powerful positions who want to keep people physically separated. And representation matters to inspire others who share backgrounds.
