Faceit's Number 1 ranked player got banned. It'll come as validation for anybody who's been beaten by him previously, but the consequences of the ban on the game's anti-cheat and credibility are catastrophic, and we'll never know the full extent of his cheating. How many other cheaters are out there?...

  • Besides the fact that the overmatch system has not been usable since the CS2 release, I still don’t think that players should do the unpaid janitor work that Valve completely ignores while raking in millions. Valorant isn’t free of cheaters by any means, but there are no ragehacks running rampant like in CS at the moment. On the other hand I’d rather play against a spinbot with a Scar instead of getting invested in a match and trying to win, only to find out that someone was looking through the wall in crucial rounds. I barely ever see anyone complimenting an opponent on a shot they hit, because cheating is so widespread and rampant. Sad state really

Maybe I'm just extremely lucky, but these allegations that cheaters are everywhere seem exaggerated by vocal minorities. It just gives players that suck at the game an easy excuse, that they then use to confirm their existing biases. 99.9999% of players that call others cheaters never even bother to open a replay to confirm. You can suspect someone to cheat or just say that at least you see no clear EVIDENCE that they are cheating, but never that a player is clean. Watching CS2 demos has taught me that even the opponents that I never suspected and who were the bottom of the leaderboard sometimes had blatant wallhacks, just missing the required aim for it to have any impact.

    • What the actual fuck is happening to these games bro. Remember back when cheating was actually relatively rare in these shooters? Now it's fucking rampant, what the hell. I never imagined CS2 to become known as a game full of cheaters with ineffective anticheat. Like why are we experiencing this seemingly sudden epidemic of hackers? I kinda blame it on the wave of people who joined PC gaming back in 2020 during lockdown. The population on Steam probably almost doubled if not more from all the people getting gaming PCs. And now we have to deal with the hacking they brought with them. I HATE to use this word but... it's the normies. Before 2020 you were weird for gaming on PC, now it's normalized. Just my tinfoil conspiracy theory. More people naturally means more hackers. I also think it brought a lot of people in who don't respect the integrity of these games and don't see hacking as a major offense like pre-2020 PC gamers do. Just saying, maybe I'm wrong, but before 2020 I never saw hackers in any game I played. Hundreds of hours of TF2 and CSGO, seen zero. Now? Pfft, they're everywhere.

  • It seems Valve is really stubborn on wanting to have hard evidence of third-party software running on the end-user's machine (along with their commitment to be unintrusive). That's the only good reason I can think of for letting rage hacks run rampant on their servers. In addition to what has been suggested using stats like the ones Leetify generates, it should be really easy to observe a player's camera vector over time and pick out rage hacks. It would be more complicated than this but i.e. a player is looking down for >95% of the round and making crazy flicks getting multikills - that should probably get flagged Things like: -Average player speed per round -Natural vs unnatural crosshair movement (especially during flicks and sprays) - bullets fired per second (like seriously how are those cheats not detected) -wallbangs based on information gained in round (this is a really complex and advanced metric though) Could all be used to detect unnatural behavior. If not banning players, these metrics should at least be grouped together in a trust-factor-like manner I think the idea is that valve isn't quite sure of what bugs do and don't exist in the game. They aren't the type to be banning based off of exploits, only third party software. In the same vein they're also definitely very wary of falsely banning players. If they're not gonna ban based on in-game metrics I think our only hope is a more aggressive trust-factor system based on those metrics.

None of them are hard and fast excepting that extreme rage hack blatent stats such has 99/100 accuracy and 5k every round and odd camera vectors. Leetify does make it quite easy to see who is cheating, based on what I know of cheaters. • Thanks for this video and summarizing how many players are feeling. Playing against hackers ruins the game. People are even questioning whether pros are hacking DURING tournaments. It's such a terrible time in the game. I've been playing since 1999 and cs_mansion was the main map. I played through the days where we had to download the updates on 56k. CS1.6 transition to CS:CZ and CS:S and then the weird transition into CS:GO. This is by far the most profound time that I can remember. No one can be trusted and the the biggest violator of that is Valve. They allowed this to happen. My only guess is that they will implement a system where you have to pay to get out of the lobbies of hackers since they seem to refuse the idea of a kernel level anti-cheat. Something that many people should be very weary of (ESEA bitcoin mining)... The game is unplayable...even in FaceIt. I hope they find something soon, because the game is hurting.

The interviewer from Cybershoke also said they had problems where teams were requested to provide event organizers with videos of each players screens in online matches and they were submitting only 4/5 videos with some players refusing to do so. • Should be noted The Prodigies is not one of the dodgy teams spoken about in relation to Wonderful_Y. The ban on consss was only form one tournament organizer and it is hotly contested if he even cheated or not. The Prodigies was a very serious talent development squad of free agents organized by the Prodigy Agency, meaning young players signed to the agency could get playtime as a team while remaining available to sign for free for interested teams. Wonderful_Y's dodgy teams refer to orgless squads from the CIS region, such as Doge Soldiers with Qweall (strongly suspected of associating with cheaters circumventing bans in Major qualifiers) and Sergiz (famously, a member of Akuma, several members of which are nowadays banned for matchfixing by ESIC). Several other games and teams in open qualifiers and alike, too low to show up on HLTV, and thus go largely unnoticed. Just saying - while consss himself is a bit suspect because of the ban from European Pro League, it's far from concerned and the team "The Prodigies" should not be considered shady by any means.

  • To play online games your forced to have the most intrusive of software possible running on your personal computer? That is the solution? To bad single player games that have you pay $70+ loaded with loot boxes and endless money extraction ALSO force that intrusive crap on you. Not only ruining the game performance with frame murder and stutters. Also taking hold of your hole computer and scanning every little dirty secret. Like what brand of bread you like. Or what company to sell your personalized ad information to. The solution is not to force down to the firmware and kernel level anti-cheat. That is the kind of solution your going for when trying to fight digital warfare in a world war. Or you know... Steal with fake consent your 'data'. It really dose not matter how one twist and turns it. It is stalking activity rooting around someone's else's trash bin. Let alone walking right up to there schedule board and noting down al of it. Or taking sleep habits that not even the freaking person your stalking are putting down as data on a paper or storage device! All for your safety ofc. Or to stop spinbots? Closet cheaters? What is the excuses? All are bad. If Valve or anyone wants full kernel and complete control of a machine? Then the machine better be sold as that too. Like a console ONLY to play those online games. And the only thing that SteamDeck truly have going for it? It is the fact that is is a personal computer. Running opposite to Microsoft and Windows trying to control the costumers device. Nintendo Switch is not a personal computer. It might be able to run a web browser or whatever. You can probably jail-brake it and mod it. You can probably also develop cheats and spinbots for Nintendo games/hardware if you want and cared to. It really solves nothing trying to stop bad actors and cheats. If there is any proof needed then go and look up all the examples of DRM's that ruins games. Where pirates got the clear and in all ways the better experience. The hole POINT of Steam is that instead of fighting pirates they deliver a better service then pirating. I will not buy a console solely to play CS2. Rather stop playing online games completely if your being made to both pay and be handled at the same time like a crook/cheat. Solving the cheating problems is up on Valves and their server sides. Not forcing costumers give them the keys to there front door. And lock to the garbage bin. And optional give up your time table. We want to know when you walk passed a dark corner. For your safety! Totally! Do not mind the pixels I'm holding. Gambled for the pixel in something called loot boxes.
