    • They dislike it because you don't need to have anything to be a good craftsman, you just need to have a little quality in your work. India, like China, produces incredibly substandard products, they are very bad at making things yet their pride is so high they think this garbage is worth showing off. Look at 1800's and 1900's European metal work. India is in 2021 yet they are living in the 1200's by the worlds standards, and not for any other reason besides lack of trying / caring.

    • Yeah, something tells me it wouldn't pass UL standards. We have safety protocols for a reason. This thing is literally slapped together with recycled materials

    • @@TheNemosdaddy the point is, it was hand made in less that ideal conditions and it works. This is beyond "slapping" something together. This in itself takes a level of skill and electrical understanding a vast majority of people don't have. The only thing it's missing is a warning that says "not to be operated by fucktards".

  • My expectations were low when I saw the video title, and dropped even lower when the video started playing. But I must say, with the addition of a proper electrical plug and a safer way to switch between power settings, I would gladly use this instead of the small welder I already have. Great work, and good craftsmanship, keep it up!

    • There's no thermal protection in the event of an overload. In the event of an overload or continued high duty cycle usage the coils will heat too much and short rendering the welder completely useless.

  • I would buy and use it. It's probably reasonably priced and I use professional welding machines all the time. For the average person at home this is a very good value. It's very good to see people making products with their hands the way things used to be when life was better 150+ years ago.

  • I must say I'm impressed what you can do even if your resources and tools are limited. The exposed terminals do scare me a bit but if no other connectors are available you have to live with this and just be careful. It's always easy to say it's poor technology if you live in a country where tools and components are easily available. Well done.

  • As "primitive" that seems, there is a similar "built" welding machine in the family and it pretty much outlasts every family member. Does better job than most commercial welding machines it has been compared to. It's amazing.

    • When I was in trade school for welding my instructor had gone over to the Middle East to help assess the skill level of the welders over there (this was back in the 90’s) he said they were mostly working on the ground so he was like what the fuck......he built a table and the hopped up on the table to do their coupons he said it was super bizarre! But he also saw a lot of potential for them to become amazing welders!!

  • Very few people use transformer welding machines, they are already in past. Modern welding machines are lighter, more economical and safer. Forbidden to connect copper and aluminum wires, this leads to overheating at the junction.
