  • First he defeats both Ruud and Schwartzman to make the US Open quarterfinals as a qualifier where he becomes the only person the whole tournament to win a set from Medvedev and now he defeats Rublev to make his first tour semifinal. At this rate Botic has a bright future ahead of him.

    • Botic and Karatsev have been playing in the Challenger Tour for many years but for lack of good coaching and advise, they had gotten comfortable with the little money they earned each year. Karatsev stumbled on a coach who told him you are so good and have been wasting your time playing in the Challenger Tour and just like that, they drew a plan and specific targets and in less than one year, book here we are today. Karatsev's breakthrough triggered a renaissance of believe in Players such as Botic Van Zandschulp and others whom you will keeping seeing propping up in their late 20s. Just so you know though, Botic already beat Rolland Garos even Rublev was not in the top 10 at the time but he was already a top player!!!

I also believe Rublev is more athletic of the two and can add points by forcing his counterpart to move. None the less awesome match from the Dutchman! Amazingly disciplined and was behind every ball he struck, it was an absolute masterclass on hitting the ball. I would say everyone can learn from the technique displayed in this match. Outstanding.

  • What amazed me most were these blistering forehands from VDZ, such easy power and so fast, Rublev was often in the right corner but had no chance, he simply hit through Rublev 1:29

  • A few years ago I saw van de zandschulp losing in the qualies in Rotterdam tournament against Pierre hughes Herbert. Already then I saw that he could match with top 100 players. Now he is finally believing it himself.

  • This is the problem with power hitters like Karatsev and Rublev. When that's all you depend on it's going to work against you when your opponent can handle it and return it back with interest. Not to mention the fact that VDZ has other abilities in his game. Terrific performance by the Dutch player.
