  • 4:23 Hey that's actually pretty quick there! Good job. One thing I was surprised about was that the instructors didn't say anything when he was firing with his neck craned, cheek raised well away from the stock, and shoulders back. Ain't a problem with the shooter - people new to shoulder-fired firearms tend to shoot it like that before they're taught otherwise. In fact, the first time I shot an AR with an optic I mounted the optic too far back and I was doing the same thing - cheek off the stock, neck back and shoulders forward. Range officer marched his ass over and asked me if I was trying to be a swan or ballerina or something and learned me that nose to charging handle was a good place to start. Need your cheek on the stock for three points of contact to get a stable platform, and you won't get a repeatable sight picture without it. Dude seems a natural, though...get him shooting with proper fundamentals and I bet he puts in work.

Also,the rifle the host is shooting here,is NOT an "assault rifle",because it´s only a semi-auto rifle and can´t go full-auto. (semi-auto is one shot per trigger-pull,full-auto is "RATATATATATA".) A proper "assault rifle" has a switch for this,like the M-4 Carbine that the military uses. Generally speaking,"assault rifle" is a technically incorrect term,that comes from the german word "Sturmgewehr" (from "Sturm" as in " to storm/attack/assault" in german). The correct term should be "combat" or "battle" rifle. And no,you can´t easily buy and own a proper,full-auto "assault rifle",as a civilian, not without having to undergo a strict background-check by the ATF (and they take this VERY serious) and going up a tax category.
