Today I react to How Keanu Reeves Learned To Shoot Guns For 'John Wick' by Movies Insider. I didn't know Keanu Reeves knew this much about weapons! He skills are incredible. I think Keanu Reeves is genuinely amazing at this and has definitely been practicing a lot for his John Wick movies. I wonder if he used some of these skills in Cyberpunk 2077 by CD Project Red!!!

  • Hey man! thanks for picking our video to react to. And thanks for not roasting me too much :) Yes this was the first time I'd shot any of those guns, and the first time I'd shot any type gun since I was in boy scouts. Not familiar with them at all, and I was super nervous about accidentally shooting my toes off. but it turned out to be a great experience. They also were grilling me about my posture. But in my defense, my posture is bad all the time, not just holding guns. Anyway thanks again and keep up the great videos! - Joe

    • Honestly, it comes with practice. In the Army, we were trained to exaggerate our forward can’t so that when we got on the firing line, we were used to leaning forward. If you buy a gun and continue training with it, practice exaggerating bending forward at the hips and keeping your back strait.

    • You actually did great for a first time shooter, standing and in the high ready position. Honestly, rarely does anyone have a perfect posture when shooting. Range shooting, competition shooting or even in real combat. Standing, kneeling , sitting, and laying down in the prone position doesn’t matter; whatever feels most comfortable for you is how you should shoot. When you tried to aim the with the pistol. You can almost tell it’s a first time shooter, because many people aim with one eye open, instead of both eyes being opened. Whats funny is Im actually supposed to be a left handed shooter because of my dominant eye. However, I feel more comfortable shooting with the right side vs shooting on my left side. I always tell new shooters to picture the weapon as an extension of their arm, always keep the weapon on safe, and muzzle pointed up n down range(muzzle awareness). I haven’t ever seen anyone draw standing square, squat, with a straight back ever, lol. That’s just too uncomfortable to do, lol. But it’s fun to point out things we see because how were trained. It’s actually quite funny watching ourselves after shooting. You see the bad posture, slight hesitation, and everything you do wrong; but during training you thought you did everything right!

    • @Muckan Once upon a year it was. I used to shoot practical pistol on courses similar to the one shown. Great sport. I was certificated to shoot in Europe. In competition you had the standards which simulated about every event likely, being shot in your dominant arm, so dropping the mag and reloading one handed, belt buckle or between the knees by the way, belt buckle caused havoc with the rear sights. Drawing with right and transferring to left and then shooting with non dominant hand. El presidente was a good one involving hostages and the you had the course of fire, engaging targets on the move, had to count shots plan your reloads etc all against the clock, shooting through letterboxes, jumping out of door ways onto mattresses and engaging targets, loved it. It does take a bit of time to when you first start as you cannot get over you are holding a real gun, so you are naturally a bit scared. Once you are confident though you speed up and learn other things. Used to reload my own rounds too, trying to hit the sweetspot between accuracy, power and recoil. Ahh rambling now, I really loved the sport, then some dickhead ruined it.

  • You said about Keanu's skill in reloading a handgun one-handed. He actually reloads the mag and releases the slide as normal, but then he jumps his hand up the back of the grip to pull the slide back with his fingers to check the round has sat properly in the chamber. The reason he does this (so I've been told) is that that particular handgun (I forget which one it actually was) has a regular issue with not seating the round correctly, so in order to be authentic they got Keanu to do that move. Obviously it could have been done two-handed, but the one-handed approach looks so much cooler.

    @charmi711711@charmi7117114 жыл бұрын
    • Doesn't mean its a competition gun. The Sig Sauer MPX is first and foremost a Pistol Caliber Carbine and was developed primarily as a submachine gun. It's just marketed that way on the civilian version of Sig's website, because competitors are primarly the ones buying it.

    • J the MP5 also shoots 9mm but I would not put it in the competition category. That is an SMG. The MPX is an SMG and this is is the civilian variant of it. An MPX Carbine would do just fine protecting one's apartment. It does not quite have the stopping power of an AR-15 but I still would not pass up an MPX for home defense. AR is the superior platform though.

It is not anything like "gangsta's grip" where the handgun is held almost horizontal. The purpose of the CAR is so you can keep your gun closer to your chest while shooting. Looks like Keanu is using a modified weaver stance otherwise. Feet shoulder length apart with your "weak" foot slightly forward but keeping your shoulders forward while turned slightly towards the target. It's almost impossible to remain fast and accurate while standing upright with your shoulders back.

Competition shooters put them on there for shots that are faster when the gun is being held without the stock mounted and weak side shooting. They are usually sighted in for up close shots. I sometimes use mine for really close headshots instead of the red dot during competitions. Most red dots are sighted in for 15 to 25 yds and so the offset is enough to toss a lesser point hit up close.

    • @GROOT Assault Rifle is a legally defined term in America meaning, among other things, select fire: the ability to fire multiple rounds with a single pull of the trigger(three round burst or full-auto). The AR15 is by definition a civilian version of the military M16/M4 which is semi-auto only. Assault Weapon is a political term which is not legally defined. It usually refers to weapons that are semi-auto with the ability to accept a detachable magazine but it can vary by source.

    • @@bryanayers4557 wait wait hold up. I understand now that it's just a legal term, so thank you for teaching me that but the m4 is a carbine and the m16 a rifle so how can the ar15 be a civillian version of those combined?

      @grootsyt@grootsyt4 жыл бұрын
    • @@grootsyt the AR15 can be a pistol, a rifle, or a carbine. Unlike the M1 Garand or M1 Carbine having the same M1 designation but use different ammo, .30-06 Springfield and .30 Carbine, the AR15 will all use a rifle caliber round (5.56/.223 being the most common). You can put whatever size barrel you want on it (insert SBR disclaimer here). The term "AR15" or more commonly "AR" is used so loosely here that my Sig M400 Enhanced is considered an AR15. Similar to how anything that looks like a Kalashnikova is an "AK" Unlike the M1 Garand or M1 Carbine .30-06 Springfield vs .30 Carbine. the M4 and M16 are essentially the same weapons with different barrel lengths and appropriately sized furniture. The trigger groups, bolt carrier group, and buffer, etc. may differ slightly depending on the variant and select-fire options but it's all modular and interchangeable within this weapon platform. Sorry if this came across as a word salad, i ran out of time to clean up my thought while at work.

Basically, if you treat a gun as though it's loaded, you're not going to be putting your finger on the trigger and pointing the gun everywhere all willy nilly, or leaving the safety off when not in use. In short, if you treat a gun like it's loaded, you're going to (should) be extremely careful. Guns are awesome, but you don't fuck around with them.

    • Not an iron sight. You would need something at the end of the barrel for aiming an iron sight, not just a single reference point midway down the barrel. Also, any type of weapon system that would have an optic top mounted would mount an offset mounted iron sight on the right side of the optics to not get in the way. The other option for mounting iron sights would be to have a higher mounted optic, almost always a scope, not a red dot, with iron sights under the line of sight with raised rings. You wouldn't find a set up like that in a high performance gun though. What's mounted is a laser, specifically a Crimson Trace Rail Master.

    • @@gibblets17 Because it's a specifically set up 3 gun rifle made for single stages where you test your equipment before any particular stage and know your stuff is working. This isn't a military weapon. It goes into a case, then a safe, is cleaned regularly, tested before going to the range and is babied. If I was going to war I'd never use something like this. Purely a comp gun. Also, the weapon system has no other attachment points or rails on it other than a top rail that ends before the barrel starts. It's also low enough to not get in the way of the dot in the sight. The entire handguard is designed to dissipate heat and keep the barrel as cold as possible for the rounds you're putting down range.

      @charmi711711@charmi7117114 жыл бұрын
    • CM That’s not 100% correct. A lot of set ups don’t use offset irons and have flip ups for back up or possibly cowitness if it’s not a magnified optic. Though you are right that it’s probably not a back up iron, not necessarily because it’s midway on the rifle, because the rail only extends that far, but also because if you look closely, there’s no rear iron sight to use with it.
