Michigan HC Sherrone Moore said that J.J McCarthy is “the ultimate winner”. Colin Cowherd and Mark Sanchez ask if this will translate over to the NFL. Plus, they discuss what makes Jayden Daniels an exciting prospect and which QB in the 2024 NFL Draft class has the highest ceiling and which one should go to the New England Patriots.

    • What did Levi win? Someone explain to me what did Maye do to deserve to be picked 3rd or 2nd? Nothing. He had a worse year than in 2022. In 2022 his team started out 9-1 and then they lost the last 4. Last year they started out at 6-0 and finished 8-5. JJ McCarthy went 27-1. The only loss he had was in the semi final game. Maye had no real pressure and still couldn't be better this year. No pressure and still he lost 9 of his last 11 games. McCarthy had all kinds of pressure and went undefeated this year.

  • Totally disagree w/most of Sanchez opinion. Most of the best QBs sat for at least a year and developed. Teams waste QB talent every year with their impatience & ruin possible franchise QBs. QBs take development. It's bad enough that bad franchises ruin QBs that are already ready to start. But compound the failure rate w/incompetence? That's why there's only a couple QBs out of each class that make it.

  • Drake Maye > Jayden. Idc about the damn school Josh Allen played at Wyoming lol mahomes played for terrible Texas tech. List goes on. Drake Maye also has 100 yard rushing games. Mark talks about new offense. Drake Maye played in a new offense this yr and still put up really good numbers lol. This was Jaydens second yr in LSU system. I like Jayden but Drake is the QB. UNC went 8-4 last yr go back and watch those games. You take Drake Maye off that team they’re 2-10. That’s elevating a team

Was even considered by some (can't find them now) to be the next Brady. Of course, a solid rookie year couldn't hide the truth about the kid. He was easily overwhelmed. Lacked footwork, wasn't a great thrower. All those 'intangibles' didn't matter once he was asked to actually WIN games rather than just not lose them.

  • I’ll bet some sports physics guy has worked it out. There must be an equation that tells you the minimum possible release time for a QB as a function of arm angle. Without working it out the more overhand the throwing motion the farther the QB’s hand has to travel, lengthening the release. With a side-arm motion the distance can be abbreviated partially because the QB doesn’t have to take the ball back far. I can see it in my head without knowing numbers. But guys like Marino and especially Philip Rivers had more side-arm motions. Philip might have the quickest release ever perhaps; Tua and Rodgers are up there. Without looking at Jayden again he certainly doesn’t have the side-armed delivery of Rivers. I would guess though that the more side-arm the lower the delivery which increases the chance the pass gets blocked at the line of scrimmage. I think Marino had a tendency to get passes knocked down although I don’t have those numbers either. So it’s a trade off I think. (Oh. I bring this up in response to Mark discussing Jayden’s delivery I think although I’ve lost his exact words.)

I think a guy like Bo nix or Micheal penix is better suited for the Vikings.Especially long term. Could get them at 11 and could use 23 to build your defense back up

  • JJ elevated his team through clutch plays, not volume. Are we really still talking about this?

  • Finally someone in the National Media is being realistic about JJ. He really should’ve been able to produce on that team. The coaches took the ball out of his hands and ran the ball when it mattered most. He wasn’t trusted to consistently make throws in that offense.

  • Even Sanchez can't get specific about JJ McCarthy. Everyone just sounds like they're evaluating that dude on a hunch, but they get out the magnifying glass for every other prospect.

  • Bryce Young was the ultimate winner too ... put JJ on the Panthers and see how much winning he does ... this is a highly-flawed method of evaluating a QB for the NFl and has failed many more times than it has succeeded ... The big question is "Can JJ throw into a tight spot on 3rd and long?" and nothing I have seen from him, not even 1 throw in college, suggests he can do it... Brady, Brees, Manning... they all could do it and its what made them Hall of Famers

    • You must not have watched any games, McCarthy was #1 QB in the country in 3rd and 7+ situations

    • @@HyzersGR Doesn't mean it was a first down or into a tight window. If I complete a pass for 6 yards on 3 and 8 my numbers say I completed a pass on 3rd and long. So what. There is a reason he wasn't asked to throw in all the years in college. He's a QB the more he throws the worse he looks. The HC let Luck throw but not JJ. Why? He knows what JJ was. A great game manager for lack of a better word and was best handing the ball off.

    • @@HyzersGR Bryce Young was 42 of 68 over 7 yds on 3rd down and almost 50% over 10 yds to go on 3rd down... when you watch the tape of JJ, his recivers have great separation in those situations due to superior talent and great play calling... not pinpoint accuracy by JJ..thjats my pint
